In the window is a late 60's EB0 with the slotted headstock, in walnut. Good sound bass, not had the headstock snapped off at any point, although is well played, and has plenty of character. Only thing that spoils it for me is that it has had a set of P bass pickups fitted near the bridge. Guy in the shop is asking £1500, though I guess this is negotiable. I'm in no way connected with the shop, just thought it might interest someone who is into vintage Gibbo's. Wouldn't mind it myself if I had the readies Sorry, forgot to snap a piccy on my phone, but PM me if you want the shops details
I'd say that's well overpriced if it's had a P pickup added.
 2. I've got the urge to do this now but can I find my lemon oil?
 3.
If the weather is nice enough, I'll do it outside. Would like to have done it today or tomorrow, but have F1 to watch amongst other things. If I do it inside I'll fill the bath with water and float the guitar on something in the middle while I work on it!!
Then if it catches fire you can at least feel that you've given the bass a proper Viking funeral.
 4.
I think the 5er will eventually be the standard, but there's a few years to go yet...
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..............................
 5. So what is the 'most live' live album? I've got to say that I remember Slade Alive sounded exactly like Slade live.
 6.
Like you say, old news! It's not a recent thing either... The Last Waltz, Eagles Live...
Thin Lizzy Live and Dangerous: all vocals, guitars and bass overdubbed; drums and audience live.
 7. On a more serious note, does lemon oil work OK on ebony?
 8.
I now have microfibre cloths (and lighter fuel if it's needed) at the ready.
Please be careful with the lighter fuel, accidents can happen:
 9. I've forgotten more songs than I do remember or care to remember. But many I could learn again in hardly anytime.
 10. And the description begins: Gibson Les Paul SG Custom 1961.
 11.
Great clip... thanks for posting it! What a nice man. I wish he was my uncle.
The other videos on that link are also interesting. Carl Pedigo (as well as Dan Lakin) has some interesting things to say about nuts, zero frets, pickups etc. that are of interest whether or not you're a Lakland user.
 12. Someone has copied a list that was not the most up-to-date because my Mesa Boogie Walkabout is now missing as is Wayne's new Bongo when at one point they had both been added - and for all I know other things too. BTW, congrats on that Wayne.
 13.
Whats the point in reading a set of posts by idiots?
Because some of us disagreed.
 14.
Think I read somewhere that during the 60's and 70's if an electric bass was called for it was labelled as "Fender bass". Not the number of strings but the manufacturer (bit like Hoover I suppose).
I'm still advertised as 'Electric Upright Bass & Fender Bass' on the publicity for one of my bands (but we are quite retro).
 15.
By the way, I have a 1 string.
And what's the scale length on that?
 16.
MB1. I hadnt noticed it at all before to be honest... but now you mention it..... Les Paul and Barack Obama.....Theyre so Alike!
That's why you never see them in the same room.
 17.
I have
Well done Clarky, you beat me to it again - not that I've got any money.
 18.
Nice to see there's a few poepl on here who don't slate Ashdown, then.
You've not read the Ashdown are crap thread then?
 19.
Hi all, I've put my nice Tokai Jazz Sound P/J bass on eBay (item number is 330362381146, or follow this link directly). Starting price is 1 (whatever currency unit you may choose) Cheers, Christian
It doesn't come with any strings I see.
 20.
Shame Thmastik don't do singles of the 'regular' flatwound strings - I just bust my G-string (oo err missus)
The only place I can remember being able to get singles was from Steve Barr at the old Dudepit, he would split packs.
 21.
Nice work. Super !
You're welcome - I had it bookmarked
 22.
Oh come on, that forum is nothing but yes-men that praise his every idea. Don't get me wrong, i love EBMM basses but it does get a bit sickening on there reading comment after comment kissing his arse.
+1
 23.
As a muppet, I would expect a 4 grand bass to do the bookings, play itself, make the tea and service the van.
At 4 grand I'd expect a van to be included in the price .
 24.
Just came across this on Amazon - Fantastic value for money - its got lots of the great Prestige recordings (Workin, Relaxin, Steamin and Cookin) and Miles' 'Miles Ahead' stuff. The second box set is Porgy and Bess, Milestone and others. All for less than £4 each. If you haven't got these (all have Paul Chambers on bass), you have to get them. Its the law....
