1. It may be just shy of a metric tonne, but can someone tell me specifically what is poor quality about a late 70's Precision?

DIY cabs

Afew reasons why only plywood is worth using to make a cabinet here: http://www.zinky.com/construction.html I didn't know what a dado or rabbet joint was, leading me to find this- a useful article on working with plywood here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/3797/Plywood-users-Guide If you want to save it as a pdf, use IE (didn't work for me in Firefox).
3. Maybe someone who has one will tell us how they play and what they sound like....
4. Don't wish to sound rude but the drum sound is very thin, quiet and trebly. Not enough bass or "guts" to the sound of either track. It sounds like the vocals have been recorded as a track (and sound good) and there is a microphone in front of the rest of the band. The production lets the music down, which sounds a bit We Are Scientists (my PC is connected to an amp and some Celestion speakers so I gave it a "proper" listen).
5. Bungee cord (through the cab handles and over the top)?
6.
you simply dont see them that often
My mate's band have a female bassist: http://www.myspace.com/theofficialkarassband
7. I've had another listen... I hate the vocals in IAS_9 but that might be because the guitar is lower in the mix and they're fighting for space and the drums are higher/ clearer.
8. I preferred IAS_2+ I thought IAS_9 was too trebly and not as gutsy; I winced when I played it straight after IA2+. I'll put the speakers on their stands and have another listen after lunch.

I've never seen someone brush their hair at a gig before....
11. Thanks for a great post, especially as it was made at 4.47am!
12. Are any of these basses are worth more/ cost more to buy now than when they were new? Or is it a case of minimising depreciation? Is there a cycle to prices? For example, how much did a '79 Fender Precision cost (standard USA in Ash) when new? I think I paid £150 for mine 10 years ago. Are there "better" (build quality, sound, playability, etc.) non-iconic basses than similar but more pricey iconic basses? I hope that makes sense...
13. Someone's English is good enough: see Item number: 160121738459 How did it play? A bargain?
14. Cheers for that. Any other brand suggestions for light heads (headphone is less of an issue as I've managed to play through my computer)?
15. Where's the PLAY button or do you have to register? edit: ah, just seen the "Please login or register to download this song."
16. Thanks for all the replies and comments- all useful Food for thought... It's hard to find UK info on Eden heads- lots in the US and loads on Markbass (and all is good), so good to hear some opinions here.
17. ah- I think we're at cross-purposes I only meant the heads: Or you meant you've tried the LMII and the NA650 or 320 with the same cabs?
18. Was there anything particular that you disliked on the Nemesis? What was poor about them? What did the LM do better?
19. Thanks for the reply. Another head that fits the size/ price bracket is a Kustom Groovebass 1200 (although not the weight).
20. Has anyone tried both the Markbass Little Mark II and either the Eden Nemesis NA650 or NA320? I need a smallish head as I've got a dodgy shoulder and a headphone socket is a nice-to-have (which the Markbass doesn't have). Comments, suggestions, advice etc. muchly appreciated. Thanks
21. Not a bass amp site but you may be able to get parts from World Designs: http://wduk.worldomain.net/
22. £1.29 from Maplin for this or £3.39 for this
23. Cheers guys
24. Vintage to me means before I was born
25.
a 20 year old bass
Hell's teeth! Is that considered vintage? Surely not?
