1. Hi. Just fitted an Artec SE2-A to my OLP MM3 and it works but I am getting this huge buzz. Gets worse when I pan to either pickup. Have checked the wiring and nothing obvious wrong. Any suggestions?
2.
It's here: http://www.youtube.com/user/RushZappa2112#...u/0/fZmP4FngzHA I'd say impressive is an understatement.
Wow. Listened to Moving Picture loads when I was a kid. Forgotten how good it was.
3. Just been watching some video of Will Calhoun (Living Colour). He's pretty cool.
4.
I have fairly middling hands but rarely do truly one finger per fret - instead my thumb stays where it is (in the centre of the back of the neck most of the time) and the rest of my hand pivots about it. This lets me cover quite a lot of fretboard without shifting. So when stretching up the neck my thumb ends up headstock side of my index finger whilst when going the other way it can end up level with my little finger. Alex
Aha. So you move your thumb only when you need to change positions. Thanks. I will try that.
5.
I have a similar problem and I've just damaged my little finger which has been caused in part by stretching too much. As a result of this I've been practising this week very slowly with my little finger tied to my ring finger with a hair band. It was a bit weird at first but its helped me think in terms of 3 or 4 frets rather that stretching and trying for a range of 4 or 6 frets
Not sure. My thumb tends to float. Was trying to focus on anchoring my thumb earlier but not suer where it should be. Opposite my fingers or closer to the head? Opposite felt weird but seemed to help.

8. Hi, Having small hands makes long quick stretches along the neck a bit of a challenge for me. Currently trying to learn the bridge part for the Jackson's "I Want You Back" and finding the first two phrases a bit hard. Requires me to move my whole hand quickly (rather than simply place a finger) which is a bit hit and miss and makes it easier to loose my way. Anyone got any tips? Ta
9. Korg CA-30 does it for me. About 10 quid
10.
Use some washers between the bridge and ball end of the string so the single wound part of the string rests on the saddle
That's a really interesting solution. It's almost intonated so that would probably do it. I noticed after posting that the bridge is actually a bit wonky, the B end is slightly forward. Might try that one.
11. Hi. Been messing with the intonation on my OLP MM3 B string and not happy. To get it right I have to wind the saddle right back so that it's under the thicker part of the string where it is double wound. Not sure this is a good thing. Also notice the string doesn't ring as well. Apologies for the cr*p picture. Hopefully you can see what I am on about. Any suggestions what is going on and how I might fix it? Ta
12.
Also i wouldn't imagine one of the passive ones would be as good at all... a passive musicman style bass seems to defeat the object a little bit to me.
Hi Interested in why you say this. I have a OLP MM3 and rather like the passive tone, it has a nice bark to it. However I have never played the real thing so cant really compare. Am thinking of replacing the cheap electronics at some point but now wondering if I should go active? I have passive (pre) and active EQ (post) on my pre-amp already, would there be any value add in going active? Thanks BTW the OLP is rather good value IMHO. Electrics are a bit flimsy but it's lovely to play, sounds great and is very good looking.
13. I Want You Back by Jackson 5. Just been learning it. It's real fun...
14. This is a great bit of kit. I have a TB and love it. Check out the reviews.
15. Great tips and very timely. Thanks. BTW does anyone else find reading white on black a little nauseous or do I need my eyes checking?
16.
3rd string 6th fret, 2nd string 6th fret, 3rd string 4th fret, 3rd string 6th fret, 3rd string 4th fret, 2nd string 4th fret, 3rd string 4th fret, 3rd string 6th fret, 2nd string 4th fret, 2nd string 6th fret. I think... It's difficult because the keyboard is doubling the bassline and mushing it up a bit. Who needs tablature eh?
That works. Ta.

19. Hi. Trying to learn the bass line for this. Cant work out what he is playing on the fourth bar of the verse (the last phrase in the loop around 0.43 in the vid). Anyone help? Ta
20. Watching the Bristol posse emerge in a thread lower down I got to wondering what the collective noun for Bass Players might be? A Fist?
21.
Well I haven't heard any of the new album yet, but I did see a quote about their new album having slap bass. Mark King seems to like Status basses a lot and I certainly wouldn't argue with him. In fact, I wouldn't mind a KingBass!!
He slaps on Undisclosed Desires but I didn't notice him using the Status for that one at Teignmouth. Was rather distracted by the really odd Keytar thingy Matt Bellamy was using.
22. I have an Ashdown dual compressor thats the same. Basically it clips if you put something too hot through it. The mods are here on the Ashdown site for those who fancy doing it themselves.
23. Apologies for the repost but it's buried way down in the Muse thread and it makes me laugh everytime I hear it so thought I would share it more generally. It's a clip from the Radio 1 Muse Night show last Monday. Zane Lowe is treated to a bit of bass in Chris Wolstenholme's bass room in their Lake Como studio. As you would expect, it's rather loud. Incredibly loud
