1.
To my ears it's more African than Cuban feel-wise. It's on the beat too much to be salsa. It does have a 2 feel though...
Wow. How do you tell the difference?
 2. Wife reckons it's a Salsa. I think she is right. The 16th tip is a really good one, ta. I found myself doing it naturally after a while. The album is "Mark Beswick & The Power Praise Worship Band - The King Is Coming" and can be found here (CD) and here (iTunes). Enjoy!
 3.
Ah, that's the kind of groove I was practising last time In the chorus, it's all about the upbeat thing, which you have to get.. Sadly, (at least, for me), there wasn't any other way, than practising over and over along to the groove. With time, upbeat 'feel' will become more and more friendly to you, it simply needs to take some time. What would I do, is to put recorded bass part in to the front, and play along with it for a few times. (do it slowly) Then, cut the bass out, and, at the same tempo try playing it all again, and, if you can, record it. Recording will not lie BTW, awesome song - listening for a 5th time, no break Astounding rhythm section. Faith
Thanks. Good tip! Been practising and it does come with time. Found it helps if I "play" some of the missing notes/beats in my head, or occasionally add them. Got the album. The bass playing is phenomenal. Whoever he/she is... Freddy Thompson?
 4.
I like the idea of the platform trolley. I was contemplating cobbling together a sort of wheeled tray device as an option instead of having to drill holes for casters in my new Hartke 410 cab. This would allow it to be pushed across floors easily and also to be lifted off for good floor contact for live gigs. The other option is get the drill out and install some detatchable casters to it. I'm really not sure if sitting on plastic wheels affects the sound quality, I guess it depends on the floor. I suppose with the tea tray option I could push round the PA speakers as well if needed, and it keeps the 410 cab pristine. I'd fix a small lip to it so the cab didn't slide off when it was pushed.
The trolley is fine for moving stuff around but I wouldn't leave my cab with on it for a gig. The combination of 60lb head, ground clearance and and wheel spacing (which gives good manoverability) would make it a little vulnerable to tipping over. You would have to consider this in your design.
 5. I use a platform trolley I got off ebay for a fiver. It handles my peavey 115 with ease and my mate used it to get the engine out of his car so it must be pretty sturdy. Rather like this one.
 6. Been trying to play along to this Latin based bit of gospel. Would love to be able to play it properly but the feel in the chorus (where everything is off the beat) is beyond me. I can get the right notes in the right place but after a few bars I begin to lose it and start wandering off. Any tips on how I can lock in? Ta
 7. Hi. Just got some Rotosound JAZZ BASS 77 Guitar Strings Monel Flatwound from String Express for 22.75 free postage. Ordered on the 27th and arrived today despite the hols. Couldnt find them for less than 30 quid anywhere else.
 8. Hi. Thinking about putting a battery box in my OLP. Already active but the battery is currently under the pickguard. Was wondering about who would do it round here (Bath) and rough cost (bass only cost 100 quid so don't want to spend to much). Ta
 9. I think it's an audio memory thing. Some people are simply better at it than others. Having sung to the same kinds of songs in church and played guitar since I was a kid (over 35 years now...) I have moderately good pitch memory (my dad did too). Given a tune I know well I can usually make a good stab at the key it is supposed to be sung in without using an instrument (which is useful when there are no musicians at a meeting and we want a good sing song). Or work out what a note is based on my memory of what the top E on a guitar sounds like. Occasionally I surprise myself by being spot on. But mostly not (just tried to remember E, tested it on the piano and found I was whistling a D!).

 11.
If only, its normally "can I have £20 to go and get bladdered/stoned, Dad?" On topic: I also thought the dusty end was at the body end of the neck
it's the other dusty end for me..
 12. Hi. Learnt a couple of pieces recently that were tabbed mostly around the first few frets (e.g. Pump it Up). Made me realise I don't really like playing down there as I am a bit of a chancer and get all confused if I run out of board because I am too close to the nut. Was wondering if there were any significant benefits of playing down there. Ta
 13.
You're mad!! (it's all very subjective eye of the beholder and whatnot )
Yay!
 14. Am I mad or is the Yamaha SBV a beautiful thing... Link
 15.
... except he wasn't in tune at the end.
16. So now I am worrying about the electronics shorting out against the shielding. There is not a lot of space in there and the Artec circuit boards are bare and vertical. The contacts on the main one are near the bottom of the cavity. I dont think anything is shorting as it seems to work just fine but I would feel a little more comfortable if they were insulated somehow. It there anything I can use to cover the contacts on the board You can see the Artec here Ta
 17. Ta. Had a go yesterday. Quite enjoyed it and nice and quiet now.
 18. Hi. Have acquired a A4 sheet of sticky copper shielding for my OLP MM3. Am thinking I might be able to cover the bottom of the cavity with one piece but wondering how best to create a template. Anyone got any suggestions? Ta
 19. That's interesting. The guides on the bridge are offset (the top one is closer to the tail). Not seen one like that before.
 20.
The best thing to do is rout out a hole and fit a battery box. I did to my MM3 - Those Gotoh ones are probably the nicest ones.
Yeah. I saw that. Did you do it yourself? I'm afraid I will bodge it.
 21.
That's quite possible. The transformers in the amp generate large electromagnetic fields that could have been swamping the pickups at such close proximity.
Very likely that then. It hums quite a bit when I get close to the head. Particularly when only one coil is being used.
 22.
How is the pre-amp? I have got one to go in my G&L L2500 with some fancy pick-up switching.
It's loverly. Havnt cranked it yet but at so far it seems to done my B string quite a bit of good and overall the tone is clearer and has a bit more bark. And that's running it flat. Quite a bit of boost which I havn't really tried yet. Not used an active bass before so hard to compare but so far it was well worth the upgrade and cheap too (fifteen quid plus shipping on ebay). The old electronics were little more than switches really. Now wondering what to do with the battery, currently its sitting under the pick-guard. G&L L2500 eh! That's a nice looking bass.. What you planning to do?
 23.
Hi. Just fitted an Artec SE2-A to my OLP MM3 and it works but I am getting this huge buzz. Gets worse when I pan to either pickup. Have checked the wiring and nothing obvious wrong. Any suggestions?
Seemed to have fixed it now. Resoldered an earth and now it's fine (may have also been to do with me testing it while it was lying on top of my amp?)
