1.
SWR built them to run HOT..as they used very good componets. My amp tech says this is a poor design... but I disagree as my SM400 hasn't missed a beat in 20 odd years. Thunderfunk copied the amp, IIRC..and they aren't bad amps either. It was likely brought as a studio pre amp... and the tone shaping is very powerful. By todays standards it may seem underpowered but I still have my SM400 and can't bare to sell it even tho I never get to take it out these days, it is worth more to me than the sum I would likely get for it.
I agree with JTUK, If its tone your looking for you've got yourself a bargain there. I used to own the SM400, which i had for 10yrs, but managed to trade it for the upgraded SM400s which has a built in fan & an extra 50watts per channel of power. I can't see myself selling mine either, as its capable of producing a great variety of sounds & i would never get back its true value. I own alot of SWR gear, so welcome to the SWR Club.
2. I haven't seen Thin Lizzy play live since the Thunder & Lightning Tour. I'm tempted to go see them this coming week, when they play in Birmingham. Does anyone know if they play any new material from the forthcoming new album? Oh yes, Marco is a wicked bass player
3. Unfortunately i'm in the same boat too
4. Autumn Bump !!! Keep Your Precious Cabs damage free. Keep them warm & dry
5. Damn, Blast !!!! I wish i had known about this earlier. I would've loved the chance to see Hiromi live.
6. Please don't forget about me. I want to keep your expensive, nice sounding cab warm, dry & damage free. Please buy me as i want to feel wanted. Have a look at my pics, i'm clean & very healthy. I've hardly been used & look great for my age too. Bump !!!
7. Looks like the same model that Doug Pinnock (Kings X) was using on their last uk tour. But of course his was the lefty version.

10. Drool !!!! I've always wanted to own a Goliath Senior 6 x10, that would be part of my dream rig. Unfortunately i have transport issues too. So i wouldn't be able to accomodate it. Damn Blast !!!!! Good luck with the sale.
11. Oh !! My word !!! I think i'd have to be someones slave to pay for this gorgeous bass
12. Well done Clarky, sounds like you've got a good gig there. I like the music & there's plenty of scope for some nice bass lines.
13. Also for me simple is effective. All i use live is bass, sansamp for a bit of bass boost / little grit to cut thro & amp job done !!!! I do have a few effects, but use them to experiment with at home & to help keep practising exciting.
14. Bump for amended 1st listing. Only 1 Flightcase now available

16. I've played thro both cabs. They both have their plus & minus points. It all depends on what type of sound your looking for. From my personal experiences with them live, i found the Ampeg to be very boomy & the engineers & my guitarists were forever telling me to turn down the bass. So the sound lost its character. With the Swr, the engineers would usually commend me on the sound & afford me more volume,as its bottom end wasn't so big & they could control the mix better. The guitarist liked the sound better for the reason of that it was a lot cleaner sounding & they could hear the actual notes i was playing & didn't muddy the onstage sound. I personally also found the Swr to be a clearer sound onstage, it just cut through what everyone else was doing alot better. It wasn't as bass heavy, but that depends on what amp you use. I've tried them both with different amps, the Ampeg almost sounded the same didn't matter what amp i used, whereas the Swr sounded different depending on what amp was used. If at the time i could've afforded & had the space i would've gone for the Swr Senior. As it is i own Goliath 2 x 10 juniors. The best advice i could give is try before you buy, but with the amp you have, i personally would stick with the Senior.
17. Drool !!!! I've always gassed after one of these, its a pity the reviews weren't in english.
18. Nice looking bass there. I'm liking your avatar too.
19. I'm starting to get nagged by her indoors, about the "space issues" where these cases are kept. So i'm prepared to listen to "ono" offers on a cash on collection basis only.
