No real need to go string through with that bridge and have to worry about flatwounds or tapewounds breaking...it's a high-mass bridge after all. I've owned several Thunderguns and a Mercalli and have always used the top load option with tapewound strings...they're well suited for those pickups and electronics. You might like these...second best tapewounds made. Perfect tension, I have them on my two Dean Exotica acoustic basses, too.

If you have to buy without trying, it's always a bit of a gamble, so go with a store that has a good return policy and a bass brand that has a good track history. I have seven basses, bought five of the from Reverb. No problems whatsoever with any of them. Keyword...savvy.

Some people don't like the high price for an MIM, but wasn't the Milky Way MIM Jazz bass $1,500? $1,500 or $1,600 is what people should expect to pay for MIM signature basses, whether it's Blu DeTiger, Mono Neon, Mikey Way, Mike Kerr, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Mack Weakly or any of the big-name bassists of today. Other than that, both basses look better than anything you can put together on the Fender KCS. And let's not forget, they didn't add $100 to $150 to the price of the new Player series basses, so this new Jazz bass isn't exactly a money grab.

If they had to go yellow, why didn't they go with Markbass yellow?

Not a PJ fan, but does the typical Fender PJ problem exist with the Japanese J pickups? Other than that, they do have a traditional P bass, although I have to wonder about their name choice.

I've heard plenty of people say the acoustic Kala U is surprisingly loud, it's not, but the plugged-in tone is pretty good. The solid-body models are nice little basses for kids who want to learn bass but still find something like the Ibanez Mikro too big. I'm not saying it goes against the original reasoning behind the U bass, but... I would d buy this one, though

Haven't tried some high-end and rare basses because you just don't see them hanging up when shopping here or there. I'd try these, but I'm afraid I would never buy either one.

What about a bass with an extreme fretboard radius, very flat or very curved? When this was first being developed, I suggested they go with sapphire crystal, like you can find on Movado watches. Now, I'm no longer in product development, but sweeping up and taking out the trash is still a job.

I'd pay good money to see someone do it in 2 minutes!

This is Flamingo Pinkburst from their Custom Shop configuration page. Only pink available, but the configurator is pretty good, much better than the Fender one.

Once they were priced accordingly, but now, £1,500 and up...way up! Seriously, I'd rather buy a Fender, and I 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 buy Fenders.
