1. Stew 2 tips Slacken the strings. Sit on the floor, put the bridge between your feet, the back of the body/neck against a knee and gently but firmly push the neck straight while adjusting the rod. This will take the strain off the trussrod. If this doesn't make it free-er take it to a luthier.
2.
so there's somewhere to comfortably put your right hand, and they've got a winner on their hands.
My thumb rests on the top of the pickguard and then travels on the E A and D strings muting those above. It means I play close to the neck but use of the switch/controls sorts that out for me.
3. Newtone do strings to order as well. Could be useful.
4.
get them in before it rains!!
Bugger, too late!!! Chamois anyone?
5.
How do you like the 64S?
It's one great bass Steve. The slimmer neck and vintage style pickups are a real asset. It also has a zero fret. Peter
6.
4003 MG with VTC
Rickenbacker 4003 model in MapleGlo colour with Vintage Tone Control (a switch that puts a capacitor across the treble pot and gives more treble'ly 'clanky' sound). Peter
7. I met Nick today and without doubt he's a genuine guy. Great bass too Nick, many thanks. Peter
8. I am one very happy bass bunny: 2005 4003 MG with VTC 2006 4001C64S 'Macca' As of today, thanks to 'Old Horse' Nick 'Murphy' 1999 4001CS 'Chris Squire' Peter
9. Black, Villex
10. I sort of thought about having another clearout sale, but didn't actually get around to it. I will try to sell my Les Evans, Zoot Custom fretless 5, Bass collection SB320 and Bongo 5 H/S next year I promise The pile of cases and gigbags in my spare room is ever so impressive. Not on the ceiling yet though. Peter
11. The 1st bass I tried was a Hohner Jack professional. On a whim I tried it in Manson's in Plymouth and bought it. So that's both questions answered. Why a bass and not a guitar? That's a good question Peter
12. Coincidence, I've got 14 basses. Sold my R1200GS this year and gave up after 37 yrs of biking. Peter
13. Is it just me? It seems like there's an awful lot of really nices basses around at the moment at good, and ever reducing prices, and no-one seems interseted I'm not sure what things are like on eBay at the moment, is it the same there? I have several basses that I'd like to put up for sale and I'm waiting for the market to be a little more buoyant. It seems like I've been waiting ages There really are some stunning bargains around though Peter
14. It certainly looks absolutely stunning especially in white. I've got nothing in white/cream, yet! Peter
15. Handbags at Dawn I've had a lot of 'can you send me some photo's' or I'll have it next week stuff over the years on this and other forums, not all bassist, followed by zilch. Personally I'd find it good manners to at least say 'thanks' or 'I was pissed and can't really afford it' etc. I hope the eBay goes well Steve. Peter
16. Personally Chris I'd sell the two ropey looking ones Peter
17. Thanks Ped. I has a shave and needed a change
18. Thanks for that Nick. I'll have a think on it. Peter
19. I've dealt with Nik in the past at least once and I'd say that he's one of the nicest guys I've come across. Peter
20. Mine hathn't either, and it's still a beauty Peter
21. It sounds like it's be worth a go Peter
22. Has anyone tried one of these. I've seen some good reviews of other Exar pedals. http://www.diago.co.uk/effects-pedals/exar...compressor.html Peter
23. Thats sounds like an excellent recommend there Nick. Shame Leyland a little bit too far from Kendal Peter
24. I don't think that big hands necessarily means you like a fat neck. Obviously not in CS's case anyway. Although I'm pretty sure he has a P too. I've got fairly large paws and love the feel of a slender neck, bass wise too of course Peter
25. Is the bass set up well? String wise I'd say maybe try some Newtone strings or some DR sunbeams. http://www.newtonestrings.com/ Another possibility would be to fit a Villex Booster unit. Hope you get what you want out of this bass. Peter
