1. Birthday boy enjoy the new bass. Happy Birthday too
2. Wow this is gonna be very nice. In that I know it'll look nice but... Being an ex Harlot owner with my new one in the pipeline looks aint everything because as well as looking stupendous it's gonna sound awsome, balance, have a great neck and just be generally all round amazing in terms of quality of construction, ergonomics etc. Mine's not far off and I'm excited in case you can't tell Peter
3. For a moment I thought you had a set of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana fashion strings.
4. There are many that say they prefer the tone of the 2EQ. They'll be along in a bit
5. Good to have you back!
6.
You could actually come to the forum and talk to us about the matter (and ARGH) instead of slagging us off on here.
Absolutely. At least you'd have an opportunity to criticise in an informed way for a change Oh and apologies, this stuff doesn't belong in this thread. This thread is about a celebration and rightly so.
7. That's not at all silly Carla. I do know what you mean. Theres a couple of odd ballad type songs the guys I jam with do and playing root A over a Am chord sounds quite wrong. I've had success using a minor 3rd, 5th or minor 7th instead. If you're talking say Am the minor third is C, the 5th E and the minor 7th G. The pattern obviously follows throughout. Peter
8. That Buckeye Burl really is a bit special. Interesting the way Bernie builds the bass around the nect and then cuts out the body shape. My new bass has a burl front , Amboyna (Hondo Mahogany body, Flamed Maple rear). It's at the spraying stage as we speak and I'm gettin' pretty excited I can tell ya.
9. Well Hamster you can be John Nettles. I prefer Nigel myself
10. Yep Sarah, what they all said, welcome back and with ref being single I'm sure that someone as stunning as yourself AND a bassplayer won't be single for long I think it's overrated as it 'appens. Singledom that is not bass.
11. I'm with Bilbo. Let's celebrate the return of the bass to it's righful owner. Berating Jake says more about those who need to keep on doing it than it does about Jake himself. Judging people totally on their behaviour is often flawed in my experience. I've met guys I've liked who've done far worse. I don't expect you all to agree with this btw
12.
John Entwistle's sound in his later years springs to mind!
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TVl39LBZGMw http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=IfDE-ZvfOwU&...feature=related
13. Ref the big fan, I had my amp running for 3 hrs and it didn't kick in. Amp wasn't at all hot. The doughnut's a Feck off transformer
14. And very likely sold too! Peter
15. Yep, +1 on the Herc!
16.
The tumbleweed forum?
Hmm.... It's smaller yes but quality sometimes makes up for quantity. Yes I do frequent both.
17. What use is that? It's left handed
18. I'm looking for around the £500 mark. Like all these things the value is in what someone is willing to pay for it. So £500? Sound a good price? Peter
19. The time has come to offer up my remaining 5 stringer for sale. It's here in this porn thread: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=4473&hl=BB5000 Comes with original hardcase and a Fender 18V pre-amp neatly installed. The string spacing is very narrow too. This was one of the 1st 5 stringers around. Peter
20. Yeah sadly it isn't the return of our Rigsby. He is Royalty indeed
Didn't he go off to finnbass in a huff?
Not quite, he was banned.
21. Hiya Nick Did you manage to get a case for the Ric? I'm thinking of running my 4003 in stereo with the bridge pup to GS112 via LMII and the neck pup to GS112 NH via my Hartke LH500 hehe...
22. Hmm... not too far methinks, thanks Hamst.
23. Does anyone know of a good valve amp technician in the NW? I think my Sound City 120 might new new capacitors.
24. 'Interesting' I bet its a tad neck heavy.
25. John Surely if it's a P you are after then with your collection you don't need to make it more like something you already have? Just a thought.
