1. I was GAS free until I saw this!!! Amazing bass, love the finish, my favourite colour as well Tony
2. I may be able to keep this now, but still open to selling if someone is wanting a fine fretless, may also consider trade for 4 string stingray Tony
3. Consider yourself told, now! Lol Would like another JD, totally irrelevant for what I do now. But such a good bass to plAy! Tony
4. were these a custom shop bass (team build?) My CS is very well put together! Tony
5. Pair of Klotz La Grange 20' leads Good quality leads, bought from PMT a few months back, chnaged my board around and now need right angled plugs, doh These are great quality, but quiet a rigid cable Cost me £70 for the 2 £20 each or £35 for the pair
6. Good afternoon Martin, how's things! Ok, here's a deal! Take it as either fretted or fretless and leave me with the spare neck for £550! I'll collect some hardware and get a body made for the remaing neck!!! Tony
7. Recent pic's with fretless neck
8. Some old images with fretted neck, more current images with fretless necl to follow
9. Get both I have a jazz and a sterling, that is a better combo than a jazz and 'ray for me as I have smallish hands. I find, the range of tones from both basses is incredible, they cover just about anything! Add to that a fretless Jazz and I'm very happy! Would like another 5 string, but difficult which way to go, Jazz and MM! I would go 2 band! I aint played one for a while, didn't miss the mid control when I did and i remember they sounded great, one less knob to tweak as well, I like it simple when on stage! Classic sterling for me, 2 band, in powder blue, will be joining a sea foam green jazz and a lake placid blue jazz! Tony
10. Intresting to see that the Sterling is now a very different animal, lost the 3 way switch and now just 2 band eq, which I believe has never been used on the sterling before, it being a much newer introduction! Where's my 2005 buttercream 'ray, I want it back lol Tony
11. Ain't it odd how somethings work out! Bought this off Bass chat member last week, as I felt like my fretless jazz was missing something (i had previousley own a pedulla, so the benchmark was high lol) around the same time I also moved to an all valve rig, which brought out a lot more from my Jazz, and made me a lot happier with it. Now I find myself in an odd personal situation, as the BC member who rang my house last week found out ("he doesn't live here anymore" said my ex mrs!) and could do with some cash back in the pot (I need to escape for a while!!) I will dig out the link to the old pics and include more detail this evening I have spent the last week playing both this and my Jazz It is a little heavier than my jazz, but has a lot fuller sound especially around the bottom end, with the bridge pick up on full with bass on full and treble backed of, it goes kind of jaco style, but a lot fuller, sounds really great and doesn't have a dead spot like my jazz! The bass balances well and the neck is nice and thin, like a jazz. I would love to be able to keep it, but I am going to stay with my jazz and probably try to improve it further by changing out the stock p/ups and pre. The bass is in mint condition, aero p/ups, baddass II bridge, 18v EMG pre, ebony lined fretboard with great skunk stripe on back of neck. Cherry burst finish and comes with a hard case There is also a fretted neck, can be swapped on this bass, or another option is to get a body made! I'm going to leave this up for a limited time, after that, I know some other stuff is going to happen for me, so may not need to sell Price is £600, collection from Manchester
12.
Here's that tempting link again! New Squier VMs
The VMJ is a great option, but I would stick with the G&L, I gig fretted and fretless and have two Fender jazzes, they are a great pair and make it really easy to switch between the two, not that it would be that difficult if I have another fretless (which I do, and that is similar to the Jazzes anyway) I like basses of a certain neck profile, that of a Jazz, so I tend to stick with basses like that, so that would be the only thing I would consider. I dont know what the G&L neck is like, but suspect it would be more chunkier than a Jazz? Tony
13. Gonna take a chance and ask the question on the EB forum, wish me luck! T
14. Its cool if you are into the vintage stuff, pre EB etc, I like the sound of the newer basses as well, having owned a fair few in my time. So post EB takeover sound with 2 band eq is good for me. I like the look of these (my Jazz is sea foam green!) so I will probably buy one at some point cos I can Would be good if I could get a stingray body with a sterling neck! I know they do the SLO versions of the std stingray, but would they do that on the classic series? I like the sterling neck, but the body is just a bit small for me, hence the reason for the mix! Tony
15. Bought a bass off Rich' yesterday, absolute pleasure to do business with, my only regret is I couldn't have stayed longer, nice to play some Statii as well! Tony
16. I got a single socket under mine, along the inside of the front section, fits OK with a Gator PSU wall plug in it. It's on a long extension lead which I just coil up on top with my leads Tony
17. I want a blue one, tort pick gaurd, RW fretboard, white p/up cover
18. I've had nothing but good experience with Fender CS basses, the first one I had, a custom classic in blue, with maple neck, was a joy to play, but it didn't sat long as I was playing 5's all the time. I picked it up in the shop, didn't notice what it was and it played like a dream! The reliced Dakota red bass you saw, I think is a limited run of basses with a mahogany neck, 50 I think, hence the high price! I have played one, it wasnt as good as the CS i owned, I used it for some recording, but had to do some minor set up to get it to work right for me and the recording! I now have a sea foam green custom classic, it's sweet, plays and sounds great and was about 1/2 the price of the one you played. I waited for ages for either a SF green or sonic blue bass to appear and ended up taking a chnace on one from the US, based on my previous experience of CS basses the risk was minimal! I do think the deluxe basses are close to team built custom shop models, and I have played some great mex' jazzes!!! Tony
19. That Ibanez looks like a good option, I think I will try it next My bag does get hammered, and like I said earlier, leaving pointy strap locks on doesn't help Tony
20.
The Mono??!!
I meant double gig bags, not the mono! Strap locks left on your bass don't help, as I found out!
21. I use these a lot! On second one in twelve months, both had the stiching go that holds the zip on the bottom the bag where most of the weight is have always carried 2 jazz basses Warwick deluxe bag lasted a good while, then got a fender bag and the stitching has now started to go I need a good bag! T
22. Hi Is anyone going to be moving between the Manchester area (or anywhere near) and south coast area in the next week? Have a cab that could do with travelling further south to help it's new owner collect it, it is fully flight cased as well! It needs to get from manchester to Andover, but anywhere near to any of these locations mean that I or the new owner can drop off and collect Any help would be appreciated Cheers Tony
23. Am I right in thinking, this will not drive 8 ohm cabs, the impedance switch I'd for 2 & 4 ohms? I like the idea of this, would be great for gigs with my 2 x 8 ohm 4x10's, but most rehearsals are dine with one cab! Tony
24. Would trade for all valve head. Preferaby Mesa 400+ with cash adjustment
