Geddy Lee Jazz Project - carbon fibre content!

I’ve had a Japanese Geddy Lee body hanging around for a while, did contemplate selling it at one point but never got round to it, then I started looking at a few options for it I did consider until very recently a fretless neck, I did see a mex’ neck for sale but didn’t take it any further The local Cello player tried to persuade me to sell it and he had a Japanese 70’s neck lined up for it in the meantime a very neglected Mexican jazz bass came into my possession for some much needed TLC, so I borrowed the neck off it and it worked well, but only a short term solution as the neck needs to go back from where it came at some Point so I continued to casually look for an alternative This came up last week, a Klos carbon neck, slightly unusual looking compared to a traditional neck with the 3+1 head stock and off set position markers but it appealed to me, after some research a deal was done It’s a very wet and windy day in Manchester so a good day to play with necks After I told the local cello player what neck I’d bought, he did suggest adding a black pick guard, sounds like a good idea, so if you have one knocking about, let me know

I’m a long way from home at the moment, will try and get something on video next week Tony

Had 10 minutes last night and there’s a lot to take in and adjust, I have 3 leaf GR to compare to and it didn’t seem as easy to dial in a good sound, but I need more time

They were out of stock when I ordered and it looks to be like that now

Couldn’t help myself! All I can say at this point is, it’s a ‘weighty’ pedal, all pots turn with a reassuring smoothness, feels well made, not cheap, even though it is when compared to the original

In stock at Anderson’s! 😉

I looked at these last year, started a similar thread to this Got some good advice, ended up with a TC BG208 which is ideal for me and it also saved me some money going down that route Tony

I’ve not tried stems on MPC yet, I’d aw it and bought it for a tenner but not used it I'm about to work on a couple of jam tracks with my Mrs and want to use stems to create some backing tracks we can have fun with but going through Logic as I believe it’s really good then will try in MPC, will be a good comparison im stuck between logic and MPC at the moment, probably because autumn sees me spending more time in my studio summer was MPC in the conservatory with my old MM sterling and little TC combo

@RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE retirement is great, thanks for asking! I have never been as busy, it’s like I used to go to work for a rest re: MPC started using it eventually, once I had time, which you may think is an odd thing to say now I’m retired I watched a whole load of videos then realised a lot where before they did a major OS update, back, chipping away But, I’ve been spending more time with my DAW, getting everything work over midi in a way that makes for an easy life That includes my old Novation Ultranova, a Roland SE-02 I bought last year to use with the novation circuit that I had at the time and a Korg minilogue XD, because I’ve always wanted one Also have an Arturia keystep and a Behringher X-touch controller which is the last thing to connect it all runs through a Tascam Model 16, which was another retirement treat, a mixer upgrade from my 12 channel Mackie so next I’m going to throw the MPC into the USB hub and see what happens, now entering the world of midi clock with so much hardware, not something I’ve got involved with before I saw the Live III, probably makes a lot of sense for what somebody already called a ‘power user’ I suspect a few months in, as a mere mortal, I will only just have scratched the surface life is good 😊 Tony

Tech 21 Sansamp YYZ Geddy Lee pedal in mint condition Includes instructions and sticker in correct tin box Wanting to streamline and simplify his gear for new projects, Geddy Lee partnered with Tech 21 to design a signature rackmount SansAmp, the GED-2112. This challenging collaboration involved distilling a boatload of equipment into a single rackspace. Challenging ourselves, to bring a super-compact, portable alternative, we further distilled the rackmount into a pedal format. The SansAmp YYZ offers Geddy’s core sound and the versatility for many different styles. All analog SansAmp technology enables you to record directly and enhance previously recorded tracks. For live performances, the YYZ can drive a power amp and speakers, augment your existing amplifier set-up, or run directly into the mixer of a PA system. Mix control to blend the ratio of high-end studio clean and dirty bass tube amp tones. Tight button to add definition to your notes in cleaner settings and make distorted tones snappier. Drive adjusts the overall amount of gain and overdrive, similar to when the output section of a tube amp is being pushed. Active 3-band EQ. Master volume. Operable with 9V alkaline battery (not included) or optional DC power supply (Tech 21 model #DC2, #DC4 or #DC Postage included in price Tony
