  1. It’s a good option, missed it in my searches, but an older GK model showed up a few times, used
  2. Yes, it’s got my attention! missed that one on my searches, but the older model showed up a few times
  3. would be great to visit a music store but sadly Manchester is not the best place to be so it would mean a decent drive to somewhere like Bass Direct, hence this post!
  4. Been mulling this over for a while, much head scratching Now I’m retired and have more time to play / practice, I’m looking for a small bass combo, for portability around the house, bottom of the garden in the gazebo etc instead of heading up to our very well equipped music room Got to be portable but able to hold its own if I have friends round for a jam, the odd open mic night and also with the Mrs when she decides to have a honk on her sax or Akai ewi! Also needs aux input for my MPC which I use to write on and provide beats etc and I can also plug my Mrs Akai EWI into it Was considering a Phil jones BG-110 Also the BG-120 which pushes the price up a fair bit But I have no experience with those tiny drivers Then there is the Phil Jones bass engine, 7” driver but bigger than the BG range Comparing bass engine to the BG range, it’s cheaper but bigger, I’m guessing the higher price of the BG range is because of the smaller drivers and overall size being smaller ? I just saw a GR Bass cube 110 on the bass direct website, it’s pushing the budget but takes me into more familiar territory as far as speaker size goes with its 1x10 driver Seems a good size and lightweight, not heard any GR Bass but seems to have a good reputation Whilst looking at other small 1x10 combos, saw the Markbass Marcus Miller CMD 101 Micro 60 which seems to tick all the boxes Any other options? Thanks Tony Edit - worth adding, been at this for years, owned some epic Rigs including Aguilar DB750 and 2 Aguilar 4x10’s, a Matamp rig of doom, loads of stuf, currently have a couple of vanderkley 2x10 with a genzler head , but never ventured down the small combo route
  5. Well I got it but my time leading to retirement is hectic, no rush, it will still be there in 4 weeks
  6. Taking early retirement soon (end of May) where you used to get a carriage clock or a gold watch, we now get points that can be converted into vouchers so after enjoying my novation circuit I decided to go a step further and treat myself to an MPC one + was also because I wanted to use more electric pianos and other things that were probably doable on the novation, but easier on MPC and also because, I’m worth it 🤣 points were converted into Amazon vouchers and it was purchased along with a 128gb SD card, arrived Saturday as I’m out all day tomorrow Tony
  7. Korg Volca Keys Analogue Loop Synthesizer Bought as a gift for my partner, mid December, but changed my mind and bought something else for her I put batteries in it and turned it on, that’s it I also bought a power supply as I didn’t have the correct polarity supply, that will be included I still have receipt should the new owner need to use the warranty

  8. Brand new novation circuit tracks, night Jan 25 change of plan as I was offered an MPC, hence sale 2 synth tracks 2 midi traCks 4 drum sample tracks inputs for two external devices so the unit can act as a mixer With box
  9. Yeah, I have, but not in the UK right now will get a photo when I get back it worked well
  10. I found the CT really easy, followed a few videos on YouTube and got the hang of it Tracks 1&2 are the internal synth, it’s very novation sounding (I have an ultranova) Tracks 5,6,7&8 are drum / sample tracks, plenty of sounds and packs can be added if you have an SD card using Components software Tracks 3&4 are midi so they control the Roland SE-01 and Korg volca The audio from the Roland and volca go back into the CT so can b mixed in with the other tracks so you don’t need a mixer unless you add more synths For me it’s better using a keyboard like the Arturia, but it needs to be set up right so the CT is the main clock for when using the arp’ Also, I can’t play the ext synths with the arturia yet, just waiting for midi merge and midi thru boxes to arrive Then I’m putting it all, except the keyboard, on a cheap pedal board with all the cables, including power, tucked underneath Hope that helps Tony
  11. Detaching myself from my Mac and all the other stuff that makes up my DAW is something I really liked the idea of, so have recently got myself a few bits and pieces that can make a kind of portable set up, that I can use anywhere in the house And in the garden once it warms up it’s been good learning how to use a standalone sequencer and also delving into midi deeper than I’ve ever needed too! Picture of everything laid out whilst I worked through a few problems Should all be nice and neat today, providing my midi thru and midi merger arrive
  12. Bought this album back in 1980 when I was 15 Paul Grays first album with The Damned Playing a Ric’ 4000 (correct me if I’m wrong) If you’ve not heard it, it’s the band starting to head off in different directions, but you got to check out the live side of this double album (I play the vinyl a lot, hence the vinyl reference) Especially Smash it up part 1, the bass sounds so good and is right up there
  13. Thanks, I did see that looking to see if anybody else had tried one for a few different perspectives
  14. I know it’s been mentioned a couple of times, but I really like the look of the Ashdown Roasted Capri Ticks a lot of boxes for somebody like me who has been contemplating trying SS! Not a road I’ve ever been down for very long, apart from the odd bass I bought on a whim many years ago Anybody got one? Cheers Tony
  15. Not a good colour! and that’s coming from someone who owns a yellow car 😳
  16. The latest offering in the Sadowsky Metro Express range
  17. I posted this in the GB owners group on FB earlier today Bernie replied Haven’t seen that bass for many years. It’s not a Rumour. I made it to the customers spec and is the only one of its kind. If I remember correctly it has or had two D tuners fitted. It couldn’t be made now for anything like the asking price. its a bit special! Good luck with the sale
  18. Ian king has a YouTube channel where he talks you through the various jobs he gets A recent one was for ITV’s New Years Big Bash at Wembley Arena. It’s a good insight into what’s involved when you are doing that sort of thing
  19. Surprised this is still here, I have one that was once the exact same colour, but it got resprayed in lockdown These don’t come up often and sound great
  20. I’ve got one of these from around same period sounds great and lightweight too! someone’s going to get a nice bass
