  1. Most of the whole wide world manages quite fine with 34" scale. It's all about the strings and pickups.
  2. Join the club. The only way I can do it is with 'stupid' amounts of repetitive practice. Then when it's action time it sounds like someone else is playing the bass while I am doing the harmony. It's the very defintion of an out of body experience, well worth the effort. Yet I can't call myself a singing bassist as I can hardly even talk over bassing!
  3. Could be my memory is faulty due to the knobs being donkey backwards from everything else.
  4. Clock positions. Bass 10. Treble 10. Low mid 2. High mid 1. Contour hard left, or 'off'.
  5. Unlike your common garden variety 410 this one disperses mids and highs evenly and widely.
  6. Beats me how that process is supposedly more complicated than a carnet. Give gummint two copies of your inventory, leave, come back with same inventory, boxes checked and on your way home.
  7. If it's anything like NZ there will be a threshold value for collecting revenue on your total importation. Below the threshold they don't make you pay. Not sure if duty free booze and fags count against the total.
  8. More watts make more loud until speaker until speaker say enough of this malarkey. The power soak angle isn't applicable to a 500w solid state amp but there is a sort of corollary with some users of Genz Benz Streamliner amps. It's possible to rewire 4 ohm load worth of parallel drivers to be 16 ohms instead. With a Streamliner driving hard into 16ohms it will do the hard driving tone with much less power coming out than normal. Still no help to OP as the answer to the question is a simple hard no.
  9. If you like your tone as is then it's a done deal. Backup Stingray.
  10. Puts out like a fridge but pick it up with one hand if necessary.
  11. For bedroom volume 1x ten is ample. You could buy the £40 SWR spare driver in the classifieds and put it in a half size copy of a Goliath JR.
  12. Never got much traction on this. I am pretty safely scoring a big donut having not bought anything or sold anything this year.
  13. Because electrons are so very very small. And Peavey spent a lot of time and money to optimise their multiplication without creating heat so it could all fit in a smaller than believable box.
  14. I do believe you just done fell down a TimR hole. There's an escape hatch but you have to leave the computer behind to get through it.
  15. My 10c of the current? Rumble 100, 112 I believe... multi band festival in a sizable bar. Jumped on stage for my turn, expected to see the stage combo plugged into the PA. Not actually. Granted, it's jazz bands, but they're big derrière jazz bands and all those horns aren't holding back. Impressive to say the least. Contrast that with a year or two previous and the much bigger Rumble combo sounded like derrière with every band that was on that night. Imagine your amp with the mids scooped to the max and buried in a pile of duvets and that's what it sounded like. Nobody fixed it so either all those bassists liked to be invisible or it was incapable of anything else.
  16. I am another blind buyer. Surprising how many bassists must have such lousy pitch sensitivity that all need intonation. Otherwise few complaints.
  17. Same same but for the impedance switching.
  18. Slap a couple of battens on top of the amp and it will hold up a couple of midgets and sound even better.
  19. Not a plectrum player myself but it's obvious that an anchor point for the uninvolved fingers would make hitting the strings with the pick much more accurate than doing it from the wrist.
  20. The risk of damage is serious if you don't get with the reading. Serious.
