  1. Andy, I get the sense that we need an event to remember Nick and a few others we’ve lost? It’s at times like this that we recognise we’re a real community ❤️
  2. That’s nicely done mate 👍
  3. I don’t use FX and pretty much never have. But our next band project requires being able to change a few things on the hoof. Most likely I’ll be able to do a lot/most of it via the footswitching on my Mesa M-Pulse, but A) I’d like a little more versatility and B) I don’t have those options in my other amps which makes me anxious if I have an amp problem. Most of what I need will be - for example - switching EQ from bright to dub, adding heavy compression and/or distortion, possibly some synth tone, and shifting volume as I do all of these. I was looking at the Bass Fly Rig but reviews are a bit negative. Suggestions welcome
  4. You cannot beat a decent bitsa 👍
  5. Here are the answers to your main question 👍
  6. Condolences to his family and friends. I never met Nick but those on here who did had nothing but good words to say ❤️🙏
  7. Well I’ve got four heads here, Mesa M-Pulse, Ashdown Drophead 200, Ampeg PF50-T, and Musicman HD-500, the first three can go very dirty, the latter more grit than dirt. Probably a case if which amps you choose really?
  8. Not if you put a VT pre in front of them which us to all intents all your current amp is doing. If you want that sound ‘naturally’ it’s large all tube units, or a good compromise is SS amps with tube pres. Seems if you got the tone you want from the VT you should simply stick with it?
  9. A feature is, for example 4-band EQ That’s not a feature, that’s a design flaw and it’s shocking how many leave the factory like that
  10. Same as you woulkd play a normal fretted bass. Seriously that is IMO by far the best way to start. The worst way - again IMPO - is to try and play, Jaco, Karn, or Pino. Best thing I did to was take my fretless along to rehearsals and simply integrated it more each week to the point that I was giging it around 6-weeks later. Good luck, it's fune 👍
  11. Welcome to signature models 👍
  12. I'd not have said that, I guess it's which amps you're used to, as @Bill Fitzmaurice says, if it has independent gain and master you can usually get dirt, I guess it might be you're looking for uber-dirt?
  13. I was hoping for more granularity from Fender, it's long overdue 😁
  14. Agreed, I bought a used bass from this forum that had been bought from Sound Affects what I understand was a considerable time before it came to me. A problem came up and they fixed it for me FOC. Very good people 👍
  15. Clearly not, you tell the truth and offer real solutions. You'd last 5-minutes in government
  16. Ever considered a career in politics @ped 🙏
  17. My over-riding sentiment on this - without wishing to further criticise the OP - is that there are too few physical shops that stock decent basses as it is without us lot making their lives and their business any harder than it already is without real justification 👍 I've criticised, among others Bass Direct, Bass Gallery, and Barefaced in the past, usually not because they were unprofessional or in error, but because for whatever reason I was pissed off about something they did or didn't do. It's easily done on a forum like this, and we should all remember that these businesses are part of the UK bass community, not prey to it 👍
  18. I'm going to order one of those now, thanks for posting @jazzyvee 🙏
