Bought on here recently. Working nicely and a quick (20 minute) solderless installation is all that's required. For avoidance of doubt, whilst this is perhaps THE BEST Precision PUP available - knocking the socks of everything else I've tried to date - they do not install very well into Rics No more Precisions here so not much need for this. Details here Manufacturer's site http://www.bassbalsereit.de Thomann listing here (£152.99) http://www.thomann.d...it_standard.htm There's no point in talking about how it sounds because that will largely depend on that magical interaction of strings, woods and amplification of which to my mind the PUP is a pretty small part. However, it has been suggested that one of the virtues of this unit is that quite small rotations of the PUP in the bridge can make quite significant changes to the tone, so for the dabblers out there, this is ideal compared to most of the bridge mounted PUPs. Like so much of my DB amplification stuff, I never got around to using it more than a couple of time YOU WILL NEED TO DRILL A SMALL HOLE IN YOUR BRIDGE TO MOUNT THIS PUP (sorry for shouting but thought I'd make it clear

I'm embarrassed to say that, having played violin and cello back in the day I assumed that bowing a DB would be simple. However, I have neither the time or the patience (or really the justification in terms of the music I play) to learn at this point in time. Having bought this lovely bow thinking it might be easier to use than my wooden bow, and then having discovered that it wasn't), it has been used for no more than 40 minutes. My foolishness is your lucky day if you're in the market for a decent French pattern bow! This is where I bought it and the same price, I have receipts etc. http://www.thestring...double-bass-bow Chris

Now on eBay at http://cgi.ebay.co.u...E:L:LCA:GB:1123 although I'll of course still entertain enquiries here. I may be persuaded to trade/PX with bass gear that might be easier to sell (Fender/MM/ basses, Markbass/PJB amps etc). Chris -
All round amazing bass. Best fretless I've ever played to be honest. The body is a single piece of mahogany with a stunning koa top. The neck is quartersawn, flamed birdseye maple. The fingerboard and bridge are made of lovely striped tiger ebony. Weight is a ridiculous 5lbs13oz. These seem to be pretty rare over here, and if you want one new you will have to get in line at Bassdirect, wait a few months, and then pay about £3500 for one in this spec (Koa, matching headstock + fitted case) Looking for £1800 shipped (no trades sorry). I'll be very sad to see this go
Looks just like the sort of bass guitar Ovation would like to make Seriously though, stunning sounding instrument
I had the same set up. i used the head with various cabs, and with the 15E it sounded very close to a B-15. Fantastic tone!!
It is pretty lovely for sure, and yes, B-15 can be done pretty easily as well as a whole lot more (and at about 5 times the volume). Head only now for sale and I'm open to sensible offers. I can probably post it at a push and, within reason, at buyer's risk (by that I mean that I will do everything I can to ensure that it gets to you in one piece including packing in a large wooden crate).
I'd love to check it out at some point Chris - not sure when I can get to Canterbury though. I'll check the diary. What's your availability during the day on a weekday?
Hi Mike, I'm on leave for a while from Monday 11th so could certainly arrange something in the daytime with a bit of prior notice. Cheers Chris -
These amps really are the Cadillac of valve power sections. ANY pre u clag in front of it will sound amazing. They also make OUTSTANDING Hifi amps. Hell, I'm considering buying it so I can have 2 of em in stereo for my Hifi at home!!!
Ha ha, living next door to that would be fun
I guess this used to be mine too - masses of power and sounded great paired up with either an SVT pre or (slightly mentally) an EBS valve drive into a Marshall VBC412. Sold it to fund SVT Classic, as you do. Brilliant bit of kit.
It sounds pretty lovely with an SVT pre. I also ran a Tech 21 VT Bass into it and it sounded, well, huge. It takes even a passive bass quite well but am looking to run an East preamp straight in to see whether it happens. If so, it may be staying with me
