1.
They have done this before!!
And isn't that Morten Harket wearing the 'phones?
2.
Thers one in warrington for sale for 380 no case but needs a fretdress. Pm me about yours tho mate i have cash
Hi mate, I won't match the price of the other as mine does have an original case and doesn't need a fret dress All joking aside it's way too good an instrument to let go for much less than the asking price, especially as you know I had the tuners sorted after buying it (in fact if I remember correctly you have actually played this very bass so you know how good it is) Cheers Chris
3. OK, now definitely back on the market. C
4.
Sitting there bold as brass between Tom Waits and Various Artists:
I'm embarrassed to admit that it sits between Tom Waits and Van Halen on mine (so so close to Van Morrison and all the associated Celtic credibility as well)
5. Thanks for the PMs on this rig guys, I'll answer the questions here if I may I will sell the rig for £600 and won't split, despite saying in an earlier post I would. I will split for a higher price. Part of the reason I'm selling it is that I need the space in the new house The gain control shaft has snapped off. It can be adjusted but it's a fiddle and i wouldn't want to have to do it in a hurry on a dark stage. It's not a pliers job, more a case of using a flat-faced screwdriver to tease it around. Ideally it will need a new pot installed although I'm sure a temporary fix could be sorted with some superglue or similar. The old V4Bs didn't have a gain control - master only - so I guess it's not a huge loss as much of the tubey feel of the head comes from the power stage anyway. I currently have gain set at a level so that through the active channel I get a lovely smooth tubey but clean tone and through the passive channel a little more grit that goes into distortion if I really dig in. This would vary from bass to bass of course. The cap of one of the tone controls has also come off. The control still works fine and to be honest I hadn't even noticed until a couple of days ago when I found Beedster Jnr 2 tugging away at it. It's now been moved to a less accessible location! I travel between Canterbury and Aberystwyth frequently so can arrange to meet up en route but would need payment ahead of travelling Chris
6.
Go on then. Is it modular? I have a bass with a P in it but it is not a P so the mounting holes are not P shaped. If it will fit the bill I will take it.
Hello mate, how are things? I'm not quite sure what you mean re modular. I think it would be a stretch to get it into anything in which the holes are more than a few cms shy of the standard Precision format. Perhaps you could post a pic or dimensions and we could work it out? Cheers Chris
7.
God dammit! Why cant this be more local?!? Id have this in a heartbeat
Well I travel to Aberystwyth quite often id that's any help
8. House move and various other things. This is kinda on hold but in case he doesn't come through, re-listed here also. No trades, sorry Chris PS thanks Martin
9. Right, the perils of living with two very young kids! The gain control and the front of the mid control have been snapped off. Gain is actually quite nice at it is, helped by having both active and passive inputs, but will ideally require a repair. To be clear though, it's still 100% playable and still sounds immense. However, I have a house move coming up, and I have neither the time to get it fixed or the space to move it into, so I will let the rig - head and 1x15 - go for £600 collected or meet up somewhere mutually convenient. This is a serious bargain for a lovely rig. Chris
10. Forgot I'd listed this! Re the above post it's not very loud (which in the hands of children or numpties - both of which are to be found Chez Beedster - is of course a clear advantage), and the strings insert into the usual ferrules. Re scale length, I doubt there are any rules, this feels much the same as my Ovation MM68 to play length-wise, although the neck is slightly slimmer on this. Chris
11. Bought on here recently. Working nicely and a quick (20 minute) solderless installation is all that's required. For avoidance of doubt, whilst this is perhaps THE BEST Precision PUP available - knocking the socks of everything else I've tried to date - they do not install very well into Rics No more Precisions here so not much need for this. Chris
12. Details here Manufacturer's site http://www.bassbalsereit.de Thomann listing here (£152.99) http://www.thomann.d...it_standard.htm There's no point in talking about how it sounds because that will largely depend on that magical interaction of strings, woods and amplification of which to my mind the PUP is a pretty small part. However, it has been suggested that one of the virtues of this unit is that quite small rotations of the PUP in the bridge can make quite significant changes to the tone, so for the dabblers out there, this is ideal compared to most of the bridge mounted PUPs. Like so much of my DB amplification stuff, I never got around to using it more than a couple of time YOU WILL NEED TO DRILL A SMALL HOLE IN YOUR BRIDGE TO MOUNT THIS PUP (sorry for shouting but thought I'd make it clear
13. I'm embarrassed to say that, having played violin and cello back in the day I assumed that bowing a DB would be simple. However, I have neither the time or the patience (or really the justification in terms of the music I play) to learn at this point in time. Having bought this lovely bow thinking it might be easier to use than my wooden bow, and then having discovered that it wasn't), it has been used for no more than 40 minutes. My foolishness is your lucky day if you're in the market for a decent French pattern bow! This is where I bought it and the same price, I have receipts etc. http://www.thestring...double-bass-bow Chris
14. And I'd take the 1x15 if price and distance works. Chris
15. Thanks Jase, every man should have a blonde and a brunette at his disposal
16. Now on eBay at http://cgi.ebay.co.u...E:L:LCA:GB:1123 although I'll of course still entertain enquiries here. I may be persuaded to trade/PX with bass gear that might be easier to sell (Fender/MM/ basses, Markbass/PJB amps etc). Chris
17. Hefty stamp duty bill plus lack of decent offers of nice ply/hybrid instruments means this lovely bass is now a cash sale. I will negotiate within reason
18. SVT sold so this is no longer for sale, a man's gotta gave at least one Ampeg rug after all
19.
All round amazing bass. Best fretless I've ever played to be honest. The body is a single piece of mahogany with a stunning koa top. The neck is quartersawn, flamed birdseye maple. The fingerboard and bridge are made of lovely striped tiger ebony. Weight is a ridiculous 5lbs13oz. These seem to be pretty rare over here, and if you want one new you will have to get in line at Bassdirect, wait a few months, and then pay about £3500 for one in this spec (Koa, matching headstock + fitted case) Looking for £1800 shipped (no trades sorry). I'll be very sad to see this go
Looks just like the sort of bass guitar Ovation would like to make Seriously though, stunning sounding instrument
20.
I had the same set up. i used the head with various cabs, and with the 15E it sounded very close to a B-15. Fantastic tone!!
It is pretty lovely for sure, and yes, B-15 can be done pretty easily as well as a whole lot more (and at about 5 times the volume). Head only now for sale and I'm open to sensible offers. I can probably post it at a push and, within reason, at buyer's risk (by that I mean that I will do everything I can to ensure that it gets to you in one piece including packing in a large wooden crate). C
21. Tube(s) need replacing
22. What a lovely looking rig, and I've no doubt a pretty impressive sounding one also. Would that be a cab in one hand, head in the other, and bass on the back job Stu? C PS sorry to hear you're moving on, life is a journey after all
23.
How come you keep on selling all the rigs I want? This, the PJB and the Ampeg! Maybe I want too much or maybe you have been sent to tempt me!
I am the devil Dunc . Now sold so temptation is out of your way Chris
