    As above, the stacked knob feature is nothing more than a circuit configuration. With Jazz Basses, circuits are so easy to change and so varied that I’ve always seen them as being like a bridge or PUPs, that is part of the Bass with which you experiment until you get it right, more than a defining feature of the instrument itself. For example I’ve tried active versus passive, series versus/and parallel, VVT versus VTP versus VT/VT etc. Best advice I can give us to find the Jazz you like best and install the circuit.

    Wonder how the pres might perform with a different bass, as above the string balance both in volume and timbre is the most prominent feature to the casual listener (and I'm pretty casual in this context)?

    How the f**k could you be surprised, it’s about as good a rig as Mesa have ever produced, and given that in real terms it’s between Mesa and Ampeg in the race in question, it was always going to be awesome. Glad you like it however. I’m 100 miles away and haven’t heard it yet, can you turn it up above 2 so that I can check it out?

    Lovely 26 year old bass, suffering from the woes that afflict all the Fotoflame models in the end, that is the Foto finish is splitting. It is however a lovely bass, typical of the early 90s MIJs. I’ve been using the neck on my ‘68 Jazz and was going to strip and refin the body (I did the same on a Fotoflame about 10 years back and the finish comes off very easily). However, I’m now selling the ‘68 and even though it’s a bit cracked, the finish on this bass still looks amazing, so seems best to leave it, or at least let the new owner decide. Price is a bargain, no haggling and no trades please. Chris

    If something is unused I guess it's new. If that were not the case, how long would something have to sit on a shop shelf to become used? Flip side, plenty of musical instruments are well used but still sold as new, having been played over and over again by prospective buyers, but never actually bought. I guess 'new' is a bit vague both ways

    One of the most sublime bass tones out there. I’ve got flats on my Modulus Flea - very similar bass - and it blows my mind every time I play it
