    Mmmm...... Did you use this to get your Zeller and Kolstein to sound more like their acoustic selves when amplified, or to make your Ali-Kat sound more like the other two?

    I find there are two core sounds with my DB, how it sounds acoustically and how it sounds amplified. I love it with Gamuts, makes my soul sing, but sounds very average amplified. Stick some Spiros on it and while it sounds average acoustically, it’s much better amplified. Might be worth some experimentation?

    I think I can be confident in saying that despite having owned some of the more highly regarded tube amps - B-15, SVT-II &III, DB-750, and pretty much every model Mesa ever made - I never heard a bass I was playing at the time sound better than it did through my old WEM Dominator 👍

    That's a shame, although having owned a few MIJ Precisions, the PUP was often the weakest link

    I saw one in the flesh IIRC in Denmark St and it really was a very very nicely put together bass. It had a bound body with a trans finish and the grain on the body was stunning, almost good enough to suspect it was a veneer, stunning. Being MIJ I imagine it was also a very good instrument in its own right 👍

    It was a nice piece and no doubt accurate and useful. Will it make me think twice about using tube amps? Hell no! And I'm pretty sure the word 'heft' wasn't even mentioned 🤣
