Nice bass and nice playing on the youtube clip. Reminds me of when I was at school in the early 80s and we had a history teacher who we nicknamed "beanhead" and we used to sing the chorus to Beat It but change the words to "Beanhead". Cruel I know but I've never seen a bloke go into a rage like he did when the whole class used to sing it to him.

Warwick completely moving production to Korea?
WHUFC BASS replied to sockdeluxe_mikey's topic in Bass Guitars
I wonder if the Germans pronounce Warwick "Var-Vick" ? Personally I think the Koreans don't make bad guitars at all and there's a lot of snobbishness surrounding country of manufacture when it comes to guitars and basses. -

http://probass.co.uk/Home.html I must admit some of them look top drawer. I"m a bit confused about the set neck construction on some of them though

Its LTD so not really ESP - the real ESPs are made in Japan. This is probably no different to any mid-spec Korean / far-eastern bass

Question to Thunderbird players - which strings?
WHUFC BASS replied to Clarky's topic in Bass Guitars
Thanks chaps. I was thinking of experimenting with some TI Flats but the neck is not set up for these (and the truss rod adjustment tool I ordered on eBay has not yet arrived) - plus I wasn't sure flats would suit this bass. As Shaggy said, its quite dark sounding so I assume (perhaps incorrectly) rounds would be better.
You'd be right too. I had a Thunderbird and the only strings that worked for me on it was DR-Hi Beams. Its a dark sounding bass what with the all mahogany construction so the brighter the string the better IMO. -
I am being had a go at by a local promoter for raising money for H4H apparently it makes a nazi, who knew?
Ha ha! I know who you mean. We did a few gigs for H4H and he's tried to get a few of our gigs in Kent pulled too because apparently we're Nazis too. The bloke is a f***ing melt. He's pissed off a lot of people by doing this.

I've got 4 basses at the moment, two Trabens a Spector and this Yamaha. This gets the least amount of use since I got the Trabens. As we're doing some recordings in May we need a decent 4 string so I'm offering this Yamaha in part ex (cash either way) for a decent 4 string. Not interested in Fenders, I'm mainly after a Musicman Sub, a Traben Chaos 4-string, a decent Spector or a G&L. The Yamaha is in players condition. I bought this off a session musician who'd made some adjustments to it. Its got some issues which I'll outline here: 1) Some arse of a luthier drilled a hole for a new jack plug in the wrong place so there's a hole (see photos). 2) There's a few screw holes in the body where a thumb rest was fitted. 3) There's what looks like some glue marks on the pickups 4) There's a number of wear marks on the body - around the control knobs and round the heel of the body. 5) There's a small pick-guard that was attached by the previous owner as it helped with slapping according to him. I don't really use it for slap so couldn't tell you if it does or not! Its in player's condition but it does have the added bonus of having Nordstrand pickups and an Audere pre-amp which sounds the nuts. It plays superbly and has a fairly new set of DR Hi-Beams on it. Its also got Schaller Straplocks too. I've used it a few times at gigs, through an Ampeg SVT 5 and 8x10 and through a old H&H rig and it sounded equally as good through both. I'm really looking for trades on this but would be willing to sell for £[s]375[/s] ono £325. Also comes with Yamaha hard case.

I'd say that Trace Elliot amp, either valve or SS/vavle hybrid are amps you can just plug into and get a decent sound. I really like the sound of Trace Amps - especailly the older versions (pre-Gibson). I've played through an SVT 5 and Ampeg 8x10 and yes, the sound was huge - but this was an outdoor gig in front of 2000 people. I wouldn't want to be lugging that rig around for the average pub / club gig. Its just complete overkill.
