The other bands didn't really have a similar song that had such a wide appeal.

  6. i've got the 100watt model. Worth replacing the stock speaker if it's one of the Big magnet bass heavy ones, but they are an awesome amp. Used a lot in the 80's for bbc session work, built like a tank and make a fantastic sound. Bloody loud too. Best of luck with the sale. Whoever buys this won't be disappointed, much better value for money than fender/vox/marhsall amps

All that this does is make you all sound ridiculous though. Listen to how close minded and absurd the comments are. Clearly the man is a virtuoso performer. Clearly he is pushing boundaries in his solo work. If any of you who bothered to comment on his music and use of his instruments capapbilities had bothered to check his playing out in other scenarios you would know he is absolutely the real deal as a composer and (more importantly to a lot of you) a straight ahead bassist too in more standard bass situations. If any one of you can compose anything as beautiful as Selene (on any instrument at all) and has had some success with it, and is merely comenting on his composition then really I have no issue with you at all. It's called an opinion and other people have different ones to you. Is it really that hard to accept? I can totally accept that this floats peoples boats and that's cool. But you sound like a preacher trying to convert people and you're coming off as quite frankly rude, eliteist and standing on a high horse that we can't hear you from because it's sooooo high.

  11. usually you'll find that aches and pains and stuff are because you're not standing correctly, or your bass is looking cool (ie slung low) which is no bloody good for your wellbeing. Doing stuff like pilates/alexander technique will help improve all types of things, but it can be hard to get out of bad habits. When I rehearse I always make sure that my bass is usually higher than if playing live, because it's more comfortable.
  12. think it happens to us all to be honest. I go through phases like that. One of the things that I found helped, was actually to put the bass down for a week or two, then come back to it.

I was looking at one of them markbass lm2's, starting to gas now.... grrrr I don't mind getting another cab for bigger gigs, but I'm just not 100% happy with the smaller set up, hence me wondering about a change in head. Will look in to the parametric eq, thanks for the heads up.
  14. Hallo Need some help and to be pointed in the right direction.... At the moment I'm running an Ashdown Superfly with an ashdown mag 2x10 (couldn't afford the superfly cab at the time). Bass currently has jazz aero pups in it. All passive. Whilst it's ok for rehearsing and small gigs, I'm seemingly having problems getting a sweet sound out of it that I'm truly happy with. I've got a zoom b2 which I sometimes use to give it a bit of ooph, but am looking to maybe just get the amp situation sorted out. I'm currently in 3 bands, so it's needs to be quite versatile, but not massively so. Most of the stuff I play is funk/soul but need to go from the smooth jazz style sound to fleaesque kick. Not looking for a stack as I can't be bothered with lugging it about. So, I know it sounds a bit vague, but if anybody can start pointing me in the right direction I would be most appreciative

  18. depends on how hard the music is that I'm playing. Sometimes it would be suicide not to stare at the neck, but from an audience pov, it's better if you can look out instead of looking all moody and introspective on stage.
  19. yeh, walk away. give them the reasons why, but you're just going to get more and more frustrated as time goes on. Having a similar problem with one of my bands at the moment. Lots of talk, not much do, and lots of chickening out. So I started another band at the same time Oh yeh!

I gave up playing, well as in had a strum every few months, for about 2 years, and then when I came back to it I was more frustrated that I couldn't play what I used to, then got saddened at how much better I could have been if I'd stuck at it. You can add me to the list of people who couldn't even pass grade one theory I think also, once you have that buzz off a gig, you'll never want to leave As for the equipment, I'd say keep the instruments, as those are the things you'll regret the most if you ever got rid. As for the amps, get rid if you're not using, and get something you can use properly in the environment you need it for. Unless you've got a ultra rare vintage amp, chances are you're going to be able to pick up the same or something better further down the line. The wood however.... As for bands, I've always like to take the approach of going out for a drink with a new member or a new band before we've even played together, because if I can't get on with socially, then I don't see much point because I love doing a gig, then getting drunk with the band and having a great time. Plus I want to be enthused about playing music with those people, not dreading it or not looking forward to it. Good luck!
  22. Sometimes I'll play my friends left handed guitar, but in a right handed fashion. It's good as it gives me a different perspective on riffs and tunes, because you're doing things you wouldn't normally do, so the strumming sounds different and I end up playing things I may never have played in my standard fashion. However, as people have said, trying to play it left handed, it does feel as though I've just started playing from scratch. Either way, go for it and give it a try, can't hurt
