It's a bit coincidental that the woods we're told give the best tone are the most expensive and rarest raw materials. Imagine how much less money they would make if MDF or plywood were the best woods for tone.

I used to hear similar arguments in mountain bike racing. Considering we were smashing down a mountain side cover in rocks at 30mph people would argue that their carbon frame was more forgiving or the titanium shock spring gave more of a linear spring rate or their 2mm wider rim was too stiff. It was all bollocks and they all knew it. It was basically just excuses for buying the fanciest, latest kit at daft prices or excuses for being slow. I think its tge same with instruments to a point.

British Leyland only lasted 11 years and they were on strike most of that time.

I saw Corrosion of Conformity live once and Pepper Keenan admitted on stage to smoking the devil's lettuce. Myself and several others formed a prayer circle in front of the stage to pray for his soul and his recovery from the terrible addiction. I say prayer circle, it might have been a circle pit.

Fair point but they did make one new engine about 15 years ago. I rode a Harley once and absolutely hated the experience!

It's pretty poor that their work is virtually given away by Spotify. It's easy to see how bad it is, when I was a teenager in the 90's if I wanted to listen to my favourite band I had to go to HMV and but the album for £12 and Id buy a couple a week. Now I can pay £10 a month for unlimited access to millions of songs. I still like buying a physical copy of records but I'm very much in the minority.

I can't think of another industry where a manufacturer could make basically the same product for 70 years with nothing more than minor tweaks.

It was all good until the vocals started. Im not saying she's a bad singer but I just hate that particular vocal style.

I've been trying to work out the bass part for GNT by Pigsx7 this evening. It shouldn't be difficult but for some reason I just can't get it. Is there something a bit weird about it or am I an idiot or both. https://youtu.be/HkcwgI-l2aw

That looks ideal. I think it's between this and the Orange Two Stroke which has slightly less eq range but has more boost.

Dinosaur o JR are definitely near top of the list of bands I need to see live.

If you can still hear you haven't really been to a Motorhead gig

Thought rawk had nowhere to go? Prepare to be rocked!

Im not saying satan is good but you want good rock you have to go with the red horned dude. -
Has anyone mentioned Motorhead yet?

I can listen to bands on Glastonbury pyramid stage from my garden, around 15 miles away. The wind has to be blowing the right way but Motorhead, Foo Fighters and Muse have all been very clear. Fortunately, I couldn't hear Coldplay or Kanye

Sleep in Brixton. Matt Pikes mighty wall of Orange amps definitely isn't just for show. I don't think they needed to put the guitar through the PA.
-
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Live in Paris They're a band who are far better live than on records. Queens Of The Stone Age - Live in London Actually recorded in Bristol, I know, I was there. It was one of the last club tours they did and they absolutely destroyed it.

Doyle from Misfits said in an interview his signature guitar is shitty. Matt Freeman did have a signature Squire P bass while he played an American P bass with Seymour duncan pickups. The signature bass didn't even look like his.

I have a couple from Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein (Misfits & Doyle) and one from Lars Freidrickson (Old Firm Casuals and Rancid). Fat Mike of NOFX threw one at me right between the eyes, beautiful shot but someone else picked it up. Front row at the Fleece in Bristol virtually guarantees you can pick one up.

That's what's great about music. What's awful to one person is amazing to another. I like that most people dislike my favourite styles of music.
-
Dude, you can't say that about the band who invented heavy metal and were the gods of doom metal! I know Geezer Butler took pride in people describing them as a horrible racket.

Machine Head in Bristol Academy a couple years ago. They decided that instead of having support bands they would play a three hour set. The first hour and a half were great. After 2 hours it was going on a bit and they were playing second rate filler tracks. I lasted 2 hours 15 minutes, the audience was definitely thinning out by then. Id rather one hour of explosive metal than three hours of filler with the odd killer tune mixed in

Not usually no, super strength weed is their preferred drug.

That is awesome. I don't think he took that seriously. My regular tattooist used to babysit a funeral band for a record label and described them as a dull as f##k bunch of miserable c@@ts who wouldn't even crack a smile when she persuaded them to try ecstasy. Apparently straight edge punks were more fun to be around.

The B1 4 is really impressive, especially for the price. I just checked out some videos and the sound is great. It would be a bit limiting though. It would replace my compressor but then it has to go in front of my fuzz and overdrive pedals which means I won't have the option of EQ after those it could also replace my chorus after the fuzz and keep my compressor separate but removing my chorus doesn't free up much space. Im not sure it would work for me. I know it has fuzz and overdrive effects but I really like the ones I have. I have also found the Joyo R12 EQ has really good reviews. I might give that a try.
