  1. When I was gigging with a band, we used to quite often miss entire verses. We got good at it though, me and the drummer could pick up pretty quickly when the singer/guitarist went to the wrong section. We all missed notes or played the wrong part occasionally. No one in the audience ever notices. It's all good. I've seen some of the biggest rock and metal bands in the world completely screw up songs and have to start again. They make a joke about it, make fun of the person who messed up and its all fine. Perfection is boring anyway
  2. I had an Ibanez SRMS805 fan fret. To be honest, it felt completely natural and took no adjustment in my playing. The clarity on the B string was excellent and the tone was much more consistent across all strings than other 5 strings I've used. Ideal for heavily distorted, low tuned modern metal sounds
  3. Wreck of the SS Needle - Cult Of Luna / Julie Christmas This is a modern metal masterpiece
  4. Birth of Violence - Chelsea Wolfe
  5. Radio - Rancid
  6. Gibson 5 string? What model is that?
  7. Judith - A Perfect Circle
  8. It's got to be BC Rich. Was it inspired by gentlemen vegetables or lady front lumps?
  9. King of the Road - Fu Manchu
  10. Dirt by The Stooges but a sludge metal version. Aged 42, Size 11 Dr Martins.
  11. 50 Million Year Trip - Kyuss
  12. Marijuanauts Theme - Sleep
  13. Electric Messiah - High On Fire
  14. Jesus don't want me for a sunbeam - The Vaselines
  15. Supercharger Heaven - White Zombie
  16. All the wrong thickness and shape?
  17. My 5 string was multi scale with an extra long neck. Amazing sound on the low B and similar tone across all 5 but not as easy to play as a standard 4 string. It was a bit of a modern metal weapon but sometimes it was just nice to play a normal P bass
  18. Sponsor a bassist. For just £5 a month you can help toilet train a bassist and teach them basic English. Help integrate them in to normal society and buy them basic hygiene products. Get regular update with photos and you can choose the name for your middle aged bassist.
  19. Some of them don't even change their strings because they can't afford new ones. They say they like the sound of dead strings. Some of them can't even afford a decent effects board.
  20. Plectrums are a good present. It seems many bassists just can't afford a plectrum so resort to finger picking
  21. We just got back from my daughters bands gig. Their first headline show. They filled the venue, I've never seen so many people in for a local band. The support acts were good and then her band, Butane Skies, were amazingly good. Loads of confidence on stage and a superb performance. All band parents were proper proud of them
  22. Beer, wine, whisky or something herbal
  23. @Kirky they're excellent. Plenty of energy and great playing
  24. The event was organised by Riverside Studio in Chippenham who also recorded and filmed all the bands who took part. It's really good for a live recording.
  25. This is my daughters band (she plays bass) playing one of their original songs at a young bands competition they played last year. There's no single winner in this event but a group of promoters pick their favourite band in the finals to play their festival. They ended up getting three gigs out of it.
