1.
Glad I could help. I knew I'd seen it over on TalkBS because I was searching for exactly the same thing a few days ago. I've not been brave enough to try it yet though,. I'll let you be the guinea pig if you want
Will do!
 2. Pah you had my hopes up there... they aren't basses they have too many strings for a bass! Please amend your title to show ERB!
 3.
This thread over at talkbs may be of some help: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=500416
Really appreciate that, I tried searching but there were so many permutations of words that I kept getting loads of irrelevant stuff so gave up!
 4. Any idea how the heck you remove the grilles from these cabs without damaging the cab edge or the cloth/frame? I want to give the mounting screws/bolts of one of my cabs the once over but can I heck find an easy way to get the cloth grille/frame out! Cheers
 5.
So in theory, if you plugged the bass into one these TC Dual Parametric EQ jobs: And then in to the rig, that should do the job? I've found that adding a pickup to an acoustic guitar for example, doesn't give you a real true interpretation of the guitar's sound, but that these jobbies work wonders.
That would do the job spot on. If that is a preamp as well as EQ you could try putting that into the effects return and thus bypass the main amp preamp and just utilise the power amp section, just an option.
 6. If the amp has some form of parametric EQ it might be better suited to acoustic bass as you then have more scope for sorting out feedback, eliminating problem frequencies etc. but essentially there isn't any reason why you can't. A few bass amps have notch filters to help with the troublesome nature of amplifying acoustics and my old H&K BassBase 600 had such a thing built into the 2nd of its 2 channels to accommodate said acoustic basses.
 7. Levinson aren't really mainstream enough to warrant many 'collectors' of their instruments so I wouldn't pin hopes on getting a huge valuation, especially as your bass is refinished! The problem with prototypes is that it would be far too easy for someone to stick the neck onto a homemade body and claim it was 'unique'... and before you leap to refute that, I'm NOT saying that is the case here BUT it can be one of the reasons that getting a value on such an instrument would be difficult. Could your relative who gave you the bass not give you an idea of value? If you don't want to sell it then tbh the value is pretty immaterial isn't it? If it helps you I've seen early Blade basses sell on eBay for £500ish, while one was advertised (but afaik didn't sell) on here for £750... oh and the Blade that sold for £150 needed a refin! 8.
which bass have you got Guven?
I'm wrong on a regular basis but I'd be amazed if 'Psittacus erithacus' didn't now have this in his ever-expanding collection.
The tread stater and i have agreed a deal on this bass subject to trying etc.
9. Toto - Hold the line Queens of the Stone Age - No-one knows 'Slightly' different styles but both for the same band.
 10. As a Stage II fretless with LED's it should be worth over a grand all day long BUT in the present market! I'd say the bass started life as a fretless mainly because that doesn't look like a wenge fingerboard (which a fretted would have had), too smooth which does look ebony and my eyes might be off but I can't see any fret filler (though I concede it could be colour matched). The thing that I do find odd is that the serial number on the back of the neck suffixes with 94 which would indicate it was made in 94 and the prefix looks to be a G which means that it was made in July. Now if that is the case then Zender may well have had to do some Space Cowboy style travelling without moving (see what I did there ) as the preported recordings were released in 94, so I'd have thought they would have been physically recorded earlyish 94! I'm not saying the time scale isn't plausible and it certainly isn't impossible but if someone knew a bit of JK or Zender history they should be able to say when stuff was recorded. Thinking about it... Zender may well have literally just taken delivery of the bass during recording sessions and felt the need to try and include it on JK tracks, so it may be correct.
LeFay Singer IV.... local german bass builder around the corner... check it out: http://www.lefay.de/ He builds the most amazing fretless, too.

I Love LeFay basses.. go on, show us some pics!
Ever since they reviewed one in the old Bassist mag I've wanted to try one but they are like the proverbial Rocking Horse stuff and most of those I've seen advertised have been 5's and 6's.
 12.
Not now they won't!
I think you missed my point. I was trying to say that now it is down to the highest bidder which potentially could be the bidder on £700.
 13.
Anyone get the feeling someone messaged him and told him he was selling a little too cheaply? still at 900 quid its still a good buy!

"23/3/09 - sorry guys / gals, but I have been advised by several very generous individuals, that I have seriously underpriced this baby (especially as it's an early one, and has LEDs in the neck), so I'm afraid the price has had to go up" Why would someone do that?!

obviously they're a twat
Of course the fact that someone has placed a bid means that the BIN of £750/£900 is gone and immaterial... Increase in BIN or not, someone could now potentially scoop this for less than the £750 any way!
 14.
I really want this. Anyone have any idea how much it would have cost new? I realise it's pretty much completely a custom job, but i've never even seen a Warwick with this finish...is it rare? He's also selling a 6-er (slightly cheaper!) with the same finish... Also a plague on the house of the person who said he should sell it for more!
Just my idle musings. New back in 1989/90 the 4 stringer would have been about £1600 (if it were a standard bass), if it was a custom order it could well have cost £2000 - £2500 (+LED work). The paint job looks very professional and could well be from the factory BUT... the fact that the LEDs are retrofit and hence the battery compartment was put in at a later date (originally it would only have required 1 battery) makes me wonder if the paint job isn't post production. I accept that SIMs would have routed the battery compartment very professionally but something is niggling my subconscious. I have no idea how SIMs fit the LEDs but would this need any modifications to the bass that would have marred the finish? Also the fact that he owns a 2nd Warwick with an almost identical style paint job (though different colour) in almost perfect condition (as per the 4 string) makes me have a 'sneaking' suspicion that he is pals with a professional paint finisher. Either way both paint jobs look very tasty and without seeing the end of the bass in the flesh it will always be speculation unless he has some form of authentication from when it was new. As to why someone bigged up the price - They obviously DIDN'T want to buy it and may well own a Thumb bass themselves and would rather see similar basses going for more money there-by increasing the perceived value of their bass!
 15.
Anyone get the feeling someone messaged him and told him he was selling a little too cheaply? still at 900 quid its still a good buy!
If LEDs are your thing then this is a decent price however not half as good as £750 would have been! This may well go for the BIN but in the present economic climate I have my reservations.
 16.
I'll see your 2x12 and Mini 15 and raise you a 6x10".
You beat me to it... though I still think that I have the edge Steve and trump you as I used the 6x10 with the Tech Soundsystems 1000w BlackCat amp! These Tech cabs are pretty damn good and I can't imagine the new owner being disappointed.
 17.
thru neck custom grey finish with sims led's for 750 quid, bargain! 18. See me mate and we'll see what your x2 GS cabs with my x2 DB cabs sound like!
 19.
Hence the sale of my Warwick in the sales thread.. plug plug http://www.nashguitars.com/timewarp/timewarp_basses.html
Ah but your modern Warwick sounds 'different' from vintage Warwicks as the production techniques were different back in the 80's!

 22. AS a complete EUB novice can you (or a previous owner of this bass) let me know what the action is like and what state the strings are in (age, condition etc)? Cheers.

 24.
They're high sensitivity and low excursion drivers. That means they don't require much power to get loud but also means that their max clean LF SPL is relatively limited because they can't move all that much air before going past Xmax. However with four tens in unison that should be pretty high SPL - I think if you were using one cab on its own then you'd notice the limitations much more. Drivers like this do tend to sound rather nice but you have to be willing to carry enough of them! Alex
Glad I'm not losing it then as I did comment to Michael last night that I noticed that the driver excursion was very small for the perceived volume/output. I know that sometimes driver excursion only varies by mm but I've known some cabs where the drivers are literally bouncing and the Bergs appeared to be barely moving.
 25.
Sold in just over an hour! Gotta be a record?

MB1. No its not!.....think Beedster owns that one?
Very recently a Warwick bass went up for sale @ 9.29 and by 9.44 I had confirmed the purchase but I agree I think that Chris beat even that!
