1. I keep a KORG Pandora in my gigbag so that worst case scenario I can use that as a preamp and then go into the PA/Foldback. Carting around even a cheap spare amp (regardless of weight) seems excessive for the very unlikely event that your main amp goes belly up... do those who use a single cab carry a spare cab or at minimum replacement driver?
2. Eventually tempted Col to buy a bass from me! Straightforward bank transfer payment and he booked a courier, stress free, the way that it should be on BC. Now... about that parker Fly!
3.
good point... but it is an awesome class D that might be the... er end of lunch? and clarky is miles and miles away down south. Will be going no where near him! (hi clarky!)
Not wishing to derail Clarky's thread but I will confess that the Tecamp 'Blackcat' class D amp that I had was probably the best class D amp but even that didn't stack up against the TF.
4.
I am not warwickhunt, although people have often said it of me
Oy! That's my line. Would the EA amps fit the bill then? They seem to come up now and again and the prices are way low for a used one.
5.
If I was coming down to newcastle in the next few weeks I would lend you my Puma1000 while I move house, but I'm not going anywhere near. Thunderfunk is pretty lightweight isn't it?
It isn't my thread Luke, I'm not the one wanting an amp! I'd not give up the Thunderfunk for anything... regardless of weight.
6. Does the Hartke LH1000 fit the bill? I have to confess that I'm still out to lunch on class D amps for bass but everyone has different needs and wants so the GK may well do the job.
7.
I'd be a little worried about being asked though...
What's to be 'worried' about? What could a potential buyer do with the info? The alternative (as above) is to refuse and that could indicate something to hide.
8.
Assuming you know your bass and the serial number doesn't turn up anything random like it's been previously stolen at some time or that it's a different year than you think, then I'd see it as follows: 1) Provide serial number to buyer. Risk: buyer uses it to clone your bass and this causes confusion in the future. Probability: Low. 2) Refuse to provide serial number to buyer. Risk: you lose the sale. Probability: High. Personally - I'd just give the buyer the serial number if he sounds like he's genuine and interested.
Agreed. It's likely to be more of an issue with vintage basses of high value that 'could' be cloned and where the serial number could validate the instrument and authenticate it.
9. Where'd the pics go... they were there a minute ago!
10. Didn't see that coming Chris! I'd have this back but the only 5 string I have is the Hamer and the cash I have set aside is for a fretless... hmmm!
11.
It would be about 25% - it's VAT at 20% & the import duty (which is around 3-5%). This is added to the combined cost of the item & the shipping cost. The other things to bear in mind, especially with electrical items, is that you'll need some kind of transformer to use it in this country (unless it has user switchable voltages) & also if it's made for the US market then the warranty will probably not be valid in this country, and even if it is shipping the amp back to the US for any repairs will be pretty expensive. If it was me buying this & I was only saving £50 I'd just buy one over here & save myself all the potential hassle.
+1
12. Me! I'll drop you a PM.
13.
Hi, Did you sell your buzz finally ? I am looking for one. Regards Arnaud
I think the original first post says 'no overseas' Arnaud!
14. Recently bought this from a fellow BCer but despite my best efforts I am not, nor ever will be, a 5 string player! Original thread. http://basschat.co.u...page__hl__hamer £350 +postage (no case but will pack very well or could possibly sell a case for it to go in). The 2-Tek bridge certainly helps the sustain but luckily this is the Mk II bridge and as such the bass is lighter than were it the Mk I (9lb 12oz). The neck is nice and shallow and the action is pretty low and light. All round a really nice bass, just a shame it isn't a 4 string... coincidentally I would swap for the 4 string version! No major dings, dinks or worming, with a light bit of player wear to the back of the neck behind the first position/3rd fret.
15. I'm the original owner (bought from Sound Control Newcastle, 5 or so years ago... might be more). Excellent nick, there are some light plec marks on the front but you need to tilt it to see them but it has never been out of the house. Complete with the original heavy duty gig bag and has all of the original hang tags etc. (shoulder straps are still in the pocket and never fitted). I can do pics but there's not a lot to see that you couldn't find on Google. £250 +postage
16. 'And brushed affect varnish.' WHAT! It's an 'affect' as in he has tried to achieve this level of crappiness!
17. Still got a couple of these left (only available as I have gone back to a heavier gauge).
18.
Pm'ed
I bought this mate!
19. I've covered a few of the tracks from the first album but agree that recent direction is pants!
20. Not a lot of money for a German Warwick and the Streamer derivation Jazzman doesn't come up for sale as often as the Corvette! Oh and before you ask; yes I would but blue isn't my colour.
21. I've loved my Sadowsky PJ since I got it back and as a result I've just bought one of these RV4s and I have to say they are a stonking bass!
22. As a sideline our posters double up as a pub quiz round; 'Name the bands'.
23.
The Rockbass Corvette is a very impressive bass. In the last 2 years they were completely updated, and now feature the same pickups and hardware as the German basses.

They are not German MECs, which are sealed with epoxy. These are cheaper MEC versions (Far East I think) and are not epoxy sealed.
That's why I was querying the initial statement.
24.
warwickhunt - Yes, since revamping the entire Rockbass line - they come with MEC pickups, and the same 3D 2-piece bridge, tuners, and Warwick security locks as found on the German made basses. Thanks!
Is it the 'exact' same parts or similar style but made in a different factory. It could hardly be justifiable to charge the replacement part prices quoted when they are supplied on a cheap Warwick bass for a lot less... if you were after a new set of pups and hardware for a project (or updating hardware on an existing German Warwick bass) you'd be better off buying a rockbass and taking the parts off, then selling the Rockbass skeleton!
