1. cheers - i fitted a cheap Artec 3-band pre-amp to it last month which drives the fuzz easier. With a passive you just crank up the output knob a bit.
2. awesomely massive fuzz with the wool cranked up, even makes my little practice amp sound huge
3. Thanks Pete, do you think there's space on your pedalboard?
4. Here's the Mammoth fuzz finished Heres a rather crude sooundclip of the pedal running my Warmoth Gecko into my little Peavey guitar practice amp. http://youtu.be/zAHifbWw4AE
5. its a great idea, i remember posting an identical thread on a guitar forum a few years ago. Only EMG as far as I know, have the modular connects. The issue would be getting all the guitar manufacturers all to agree together and adopt a standard for the pups and pots, then we'd save up to £2.65 a month on solder.
6.
i did also change two things from the diagram too. A 10uf output cap instead of 1uf, and a 4.7nf cap for the bright switch instead of 1.8nf.
was this down to inventory restrictions or technical benefits? If the latter, what were the benefits?
7. Hurrah! Its back up again, so much good stuff on there www.beavisaudio.com
8. Little veroboard jobbie currently on the WIP pile
9. ridiculous.
10. Pete just trusted part of his income to one of my homebrew bass pedals, great comms, immediate payment and great feedback when it arrived - many thanks sir!
11. Pleasure dealing with you Pete, glad you're happy with the pedal
12. i had a marshall 4210, was struggling to establish an authorative bass presence at loud oub gigs, we do play very loud. I bought the 15" extn cab but after a few months both developed isues with crossover card and went down mid gigs which i was most unhappy about. Marshall sent me out replacement crossover cards but they also gave same problem after a few months. The design meant a component was subject to stress and vibration and the soldering snapped through. Now they may have solved this issue now but personally i'd look for something different - i would not recommend either for bass.
13. EHX BMS is a classic pedal - I have one of the older ones bought from another forum member - it was a trade-up from the Boss SYB-3 pedal I alos bought second hand. Easy to tune in, some useful sounds, requires a bit of time experimenting, depending on your style, the bass output and the sort of sound you are after. I have great affection for my BMS.

Mini Polytune

Just got my mini polytune. It's so cute! Don't care if it is a downgrade or lacks polyphonic functionailty, this is a tiny little must-have on anyones board. Also for me the clearest in-gig tuning display of any stompy pedal and fast response. Did I mention how cute it is?
15. good price for a Geddy - these are great basses with super slim necks
16. Heh, thanks; I have 4 small clone chorus PCB's etched, so drop me a line if you're interested in giving one a good home
17. simply gorgeous - all i look for in a working bass, i'd love to take one for a spin, and with this level of hardware a really good price. I really cannot see why anyone would spend similar money on a US fender when they could get themselves an instrument like this.
18. superb! A lot of hard work but what a beauty! I'm a big fan of danish oil/wax, it gives a lovely soft warm finish and it really suits the vibe for your P-bass.
19. Mark bought a Polytune pedal from me - great guy to deal with, excellent comms, fast payment transfer, all prompt comms updates, buy/sell with confidence! Cheers Mark
20. At the risk of offending the purists, the standard fender bass bridges really are pretty pants in terms of design. I tend to add a little angle to mine so the string tension actually holds them tight together. Then I swap it out for a decent bridge and flog the original on ebay. Blu-tack is wonderful stuff though and should not be belittled.
21. looks to me like fine plastic powder plus superglue or acetone to redissolve the plastic then set it hard. You can use similar method to re-build up an over-filed nut slot. Will be ok for some plastics but harder ones are often a problem since they have plasiciser content which is a little oily and glue can't stick to it. The plasticiser helps with moulding and any brittleness.
22. This week mostly I have been learning Monkey Wrench in drop D by the mighty and melodic Foo Fighters. It should be gettings its first airing at tomorrow nigt's gig.
