Filling and drilling holes for tuning heads
PaulThePlug replied to Jamieboy's topic in Repairs and Technical
Matchsticks and PVA... Cocktail sticks are very hard and mire likely to cause a drill bit to snap or move if you catch the edge. As you gave mentioned, the thread bush attaches the machine head to the headstock, the 2 screws stop it from rotating. -
Breaking collarbone in first learning period
PaulThePlug replied to lvrossem's topic in General Discussion
It's all about the Phisio... tin of beens at arms length, drawing small circles etc... I got one of these (Gyro Power Ball) after a Scooter Crash and dislocated my shoulder (the wrong way) and breaking my wrist https://ebay.us/m/LftLSw ... and no Sniggering at the back... -
Fender HiMass brigde minimum string height
PaulThePlug replied to Nordskov's topic in Repairs and Technical
The High Mass doesn't go as low as the BBOT... a thin shim in the neck pocket might get the bridge saddles back in to the adjustment range.- 1 reply

Cheap, Light-ish 6 String... How about an SR306?

?.. Round Core benefit from being bent before cutting, to stop the core unwinding. Perhaps this is what is meant? Although i do it with all strings, why wouldn't you.

Just swap the saddles - but make sure they are the correct thread - Fender USA likely Imperial, others Metric. I swapped out the Chrome for Brass on my HB50 Modder.

Disappointing new bass day...I would appreciate some opinions.

We are yet to see the headstock... Are the tuners in line, or has 'our man who shall not be named' has moved abroad? 🤣 Serious Q. Why not a Squier (or Fender) Jaguar and an Electronics Mod? -

Alibackers... I commissioned this, my design mixing the normal ric-ish 4001/3 with the 4004 Lemmy-alike as i likes a No Pickguard rear route, from a vendor on Aliexpress. A cut and paste computer job mock-up was done whilst layed up with a broken ankle, and sent to a couple of vendors.. But Ali's are 34" Scale length Thick Body, Neck raked back - think Les Paul Which was the biggest issue as it meant a BIG elevation at the bridge, The cheap ric-fake bridge overhung the body in order to intonate! It's still work in progress with a Hipshot Ric Bridge to be tried, but thats gonna need a spacer. Landed at about £250ish no inport/customs fees. If i were you - I wouldn't... The Bad outweighs any Good... How i would love a Cheyenne

Why the EQ before the Tuner? Howz about WR > Tuner > Amp to keep the Mute, with EQ in the Fx Loop.

If you have already messaged them and not had an acceptable (to you) reply... The thing with complaints is how things are handled, and what you find acceptable by my means of recompense. Who is it? You might save a Basschater similar disappointment. -

Wanted a Dream Bass, not a Nightmare! Nope... But how does it feel neck wise, and play un plugged, action etc. Whats the wording on the agreement, are you able to return/refund? If it feels good and likely to play well with the 'lectrics fixed, would you be willing to send it back for a fix? (Don't think i'd trust 'em to have it back. Thats a lot of €£$ to be unhappy with on something special. If it's likely you need to be keeping it, it will need to be at a hefty discount, it's not like its a Scratched Squier or a Harley 'B Stock' Benton. If it can't go back for a full refund, and the issue is mainly the finish,.. Min of £500 off for a Full Strip, Refinish, Reassembly? But i think a sore eye would remain. -

Bass-ed more on the SR than GSR... -
I like the nylon bush approach, and used simply bearings for stuff before... Maybe Brass or Copper pipe olives for compression fittings? Might need to 'slot' them for fit with a thin dremmel wheel.
