1. Oh my, if I was certain my car would get through the MOT next week, I'd have it off you right now to replace the body on my Squier VMJ... That is seriously tasty and I'm sure the squier black blocked maple neck would look great on it as well. I'd leave the pickguard off until I could source a clear one... gosh... I'm salivating right now at the concept... I may be back later if there's no big repair bills (or if I feel I can risk it) and you've still got it available. Then again... I've just noticed your signature and may start putting away for one when I can better afford it...
 2.
Do I need a special tool? I've had a look at all the allen keys in my possession, but none seem to fit!
you should have received the two allen keys with the Bass...
 3.
Just waiting for someone to buy the lovely 50's Precision in Lake Placid Blue.
planning to get mine for my birthday... but that's next year in April... got to sell off some first as well...
 4. OK, I've just checked using the metro 4 pattern. It is every beat. Metro 4 has four beats to the bar and beat one is emphasized and the light flashes for each beat.
 5. set it to Metro_4 (pattern 38) which is a 4:4 pattern... that'll tell you what it's doing. Otherwise, off the top of my head, I can't quite remember.
 6.
Pretty sure Fender strings have black silk too
the Fender roundwounds that came on my Squier VMJ had red silks...
 7. is this Bass collectors anonymous? I currently have only seven basses and three guitars... It's easy finding reasons for buying the new addition (ie it's an absolute bargain you can't pass up), however, it's deuced hard trying to sell off the ones you no longer want in this current market... hmmm, methinks I'll defret one of my Encore P basses and set the other up again but with flats and down tuned a semitone. Get some use out of them...
 8.
Bren Travis ready to launch (geddit) a run up to the 32nd fret.
I'm sure with a bit of a squeeze, you could get 48 frets on a bass...
 9.
If you have problems with a lead, make sure you coil it up and put it back with all the others so you can have exactly the
I keep my dodgy leads separate so I can lend them to guitarists who've forgotten their lead... same with PP3 batteries that are nearly dead...
 10.
I thought gaffa tape was black and duct tape silver.... maybe that's just me picking things up from nowhere though?
Duct tape is silver cloth based tape used to seal the joints between sections or air-conditioning and ventilation ducts... great at the start, but goes all horrible and powdery after a few years and the ducts start leaking... a real pain to fix later on in the life of the building... we would use speed tape when installing ducting because we knew it wouldn't fail in the lifetime of our support contract... a little extra money spent up front saves loads later down the line... speed tape is aluminium sheet (not too thin) backed with a heat sensitive adhesive... we used it for battle damage repair on aircraft in the RAF. Cut it to size with scissors, slap the piece over the hole, smooth it down and set the adhesive with a hot air gun... I did a spell as a commissioning engineer after being in the RAF, my suggestion to use speed tape instead of duct tape got me a big prize for saving the company a fortune...
 11.
Wash your hands with warm water before you go on. That's what I like to call the "ghetto" warm-up. Handy when the rest of your band tells you you're on now and not in an hour, like you thought.
pee can double as an extremely effective emergency screenwash... or radiator coolant... amazing the things you learn in the military when you have to... pee can also be used to warm your hands up in a hurry if there's not hot water, just give a very quick rinse off with cold and dry them off... Never eat yellow snow... always keep your drink with you, never leave it unattended... you never know what some tosser might think is funny to put in it... I nearly got done for drink driving because some idiot thought it would be a laugh to spike my coke with vodka (I was designated driver) luckily I smelled the vodka before drinking it...
 12. this guy posted very recently... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=24570 he's looking for one...
 13.
The bass looks like this at the mo, It's a stag neck and I've reshaped the headstock as I didn't like the look of it nor the metal badge. I also had to plug the original holes in the neck and re-drill them as the last bloke just used the original holes and the neck didn't sit right. And yes they are Roto Tru-bass strings (nice to)
you lucked in with some tasty grain on that body... Mine has absolutely no grain at all... I've got the LaBella black nylon tape-wound flats on mine at the moment...
 14.
Just to ask, what strings are they? The black string effect is kickass! What neck does it have then? and Trade for a Squier Vintage Telebass?
they're Rotosound Tru-Bass black nylon tapewounds... I've got a set waiting to go on my VMJ... got to get a new nut first as the E string is .115 way fatter than standard... and the G string also runs the risk of breaking the nut at .065 I've currently got LaBella black nylon tapewounds on mine... I'm planning to track down a black Badass II bridge, black tuners & string tree and also try to find a black chrome control assembly plate... I've already replaced the existing knobs with black ones... you've got me tempted on the telebass... but I ain't trading my VMJ for it...
 15.
In this day and age it doesn't take much to figure out the true value of something. Even if you don't have the Internet someone somewhere will have and can find out for you!
there are plenty of little old ladies who've no idea of the value of the vases their hubby collected while he was alive... plenty of people who go to car boot sales selling off highly collectible china without realising the true value of it... how else would antique sellers manage to make a living? Same with basses, this guy probably thinks it really is only worth £300 as it's all beat up with a broken tuner and he probably only paid something like £300 for it himself years ago...
 16. Ah good, I was wondering why the iPlayer had more than seven days before those programs time out And I've now got a chance to record them onto VHS... I've ripped the audio from the iPlayer to MP3 for both shows... can't rip the video, nothing's exposed for me to grab... Unless someone else knows a trick or two for ripping iPlayer content... oh brilliant... I've found a ripper for Linux...

 18.
MEMEMEMEME!!! I'll help!!!! twice the number of livers, half the damage!
won't work... I've just tried steaming the labels off the few bottles I've already "collected" and they won't come off cleanly... I'll need to get unused labels from somewhere... I think there's several places on t'web that do them...
 19. BBC iPlayer... watch it again quickly before they delete it...
 20. Thanks... these were so stiff I had to use mole grips and a towel to break them loose... anyroad... the tone is now lovely and mellow... just right for acoustic blues & jazz... no horrible finger squeaks when I slide into a note... the strings that came off will be going onto the Warrior IV so I can try slapping it...
 21. I can't get on with the as supplied d'addario roundwounds that the bass came with, they have too much string noise. I'm thinking of putting on a worn in set of Picato flats I've got kicking around, however, the actual task of changing strings has got me stumped... There's these peg things in the bridge that are stopping me from removing the existing strings and I'm a bit confused as to how to remove the pegs... Do you pull them or unscrew them? I've chickened out at the moment as they don't want to move either way...
 22.
I've genuinely never understood this argument, which always seems to be thrown at Behringer.
the problem Behringer now face is some of their earlier stompboxes were very close in external looks & colour schemes to several big name pedal makers pedals... so much so, that they were succesfully sued. They settled out of court and changed the appearance enough to satisfy the big name pedal makers... unfortunately, this fact has stuck, so they get accused of blatantly ripping off people with every new item they produce... The insides are different, the circuits do the same funtion but they're different. The layout of controls and dials is similar, but that's usually dictated by function...
 23.
Close up
oh dear... it's worse than I thought... I was of the belief that he'd been peeling the labels off apples and oranges and slapping them on his bass... as you do like... now I have plans to get hold of loads of whisky, rye and Irish whiskey bottle labels and completely cover the body and headstock of my Squier in them... unfortunately this requires consumption of lots of whisky... and effectively working my way through the spirits section of my local Morrisons... otherwise all the labels will be the same... I'm not sure if my liver will hold out long enough...
 24. I like it... just not the actual facing wood pattern though... or the stupid price... the fingerboard looks nice and the neck has a monstrous flame...
 25. I floated images of both lefty basses past my teacher today... (he's lefty and has problems finding suitable basses). Sadly he's spent out... he'd just bought a Yamaha lefty 5 stringer about two weeks ago...
