That's the problem - you won't stay away. Can't stay away.

You could do a lot worse than look on the classified here... say, for example....shameless plug alert... a mid 80s Aria Pro II Laser Classic for £125, which would see off your Squier Jag any day of the week and leave you change http://basschat.co.uk/topic/242042-aria-pro-ii-leb-laser-electric-classic-l125/
I did have GAS BB (Before Basschat), but didn't have nearly as much opportunity to act on it as I have had AB (After Basschat). So I blame BC (Basschat). So does the cmd (current mrs discreet).
WHS (what he said) I found 'the one' recently - my ideal bass. MIJ 1984 Squier medium scale Precision. Just feels comfy and right, somehow - plug in a play, simplicity and perfection. Except I have bought two since then...

It varies around here according to the venue. 2 x 45 mins plus encore to 2 x 75 mins incl. encore. £300 would be good money.

As a fellow back sufferer I found this video full of invaluable stuff. I found myself nodding and agreeing all the way through - all familiar techniques I have been taught in yoga and core strengthening exercises. So why haven't I been doing it when playing bass!! Should be pinned for sure.

Mine is sat 2 ft away, a ruler 1ft away - 38mm at the nut, 20mm deep at the first fret position. Not as skinny as the skinniest Jazz style necks such as a Geddy Lee, Jaguar or my Precision Lyte (which is 18mm deep at the first fret), but more like a 'regular' Jazz. Whatever that is.

Gosh. Vow Wow. haven given them a thought for about 20 years. I liked their cover of Helter Skelter, always preferred it to the Motley Crue one. http://youtu.be/KinBq2wHYDg I've always liked Deep Purple, I think they made (and continue to make) good music at all stages of their career. But DP mk II does it for me. DP mkIII was pretty damned good, but Roger Glover has to be my favourite rock bassist.

I pimped my damaged Fender Musicmaster to create a Frankenstein-esque 'Mustangmaster' ©®™ - lookie here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/242658-show-off-your-short-scales/page__view__findpost__p__2519732 Adding a Precision pickup made a huge difference to the tone. I think the bridge on these is functional at best but I decided I can live with it.
Any love for lighter fluid?
Worked ok for Jimi Hendrix...
Might have just given people a decent excuse for a discount should you sell on this forum!
Must be why my Aria Pro II Laser Classic isn't selling.
In this instance however make sure you use a P cloth...
Or P on a J cloth, which is more versatile.

Markbass speaker cones - anyone ever painted them?
So that's why they're yellow.
Could just peel them, maybe? -
Here's a thought - should I ask Andy to do the headstock to match? It should have a matching headstock, really, but I changed it to natural when I made my clumsy attempt at a re-fin.

Just finished putting it back together. It really looks the mutts! And, with a bit of judicious soldering, I managed to cure the slight grounding problem it had always had before - this is fitted with a U Retro preamp and I have found the East preamps need the extra mile with grounding. 7lbs of Fender's finest now looking as it should. Sounds amazing, too! Thanks for a brilliant job, Andy. Literally! Edit - I also managed to put my first dink in the paint, carrying it back upstairs after taking the pics! Nothing serious, but nice to get that out the way now

I use spit (preferably mine), a J cloth and my thumb nail to de-gunk, then lemon oil.

I have a 90s MIJ Fender Precison with a MM maple Jazz neck. It is absolutely lovely, with no issues whatsoever. Straight into the pocket, good fit, no need to shim or do anything excessive on the bridge, even.

Vintage MIJ (formerly J@pCr@p) Spotting
Paul S replied to Bassassin's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
MIJ Vantages were Matsumoku - not seen this model before but it's clearly got Aria Pro CSB, Washburn Scavenger & Westbury Track 2 DNA. Interesting how so many Mat basses were variatioins on one design. J.
I like the look of it a lot. Difficult to know whether it is the top end of the scale or nearer the bottom - I know a lot of Vantage basses are well thought of. Possibly a bit dear for me to get on a whim but I did sleep on it! -

Another interesting looking bass - Vantage. I think there are more than a few. For me the woody tone of a Precision is the nicest of all. Tone control full on or rolled off, it just seems right to me.

I saw them at Hyde Park in summer. I'd never really paid them much attention before then but they really blew me away with one of the crispest, sharpest, edgiest live performances I have seen. The singer, whose name escapes me at the moment (see, I told you I wasn't a fan) was tremendous, real power and control in his voice.

Well, Andy, as with the headstock, I couldn't be more pleased with the job. I am almost ashamed to stick the old hardware back on as it will make the bass look a bit shabby compared to the paint finish, which is a deep piano black gloss. When I do, I'll stick some pics on the thread just to complete the circle. Thanks again, Andy - I really can't praise your work highly enough.
