I recently acquired this - a Yamaha BB414 in a kind of discreetly flecked metallic black. Lovely condition - then again I have no idea how old it is! Lots of love for these on the forum and rightly so. For the price point these are astonishingly good basses with an aggressive P bass tone from the middle pickup - mix it with the bridge via the toggle switch and you have a very nice sound indeed with a character way beyond a bass this cheap should have. This one is set up nicely with a decently low action, neck is 40mm the nut and plays well. Weight is around 9.5lbs - and that is my problem as it is a tad too heavy for me. I considered changing the tuners for lightweight ones but decided in the end to move it on. Plus, having already decided I have too many basses, I have just given in to GAS and bought a Squier Katana bass that just popped up on eBay. Something had to give and this one got the straw. I am asking a very reasonable £140 collected from SS7, meet half way or deliver for fuel costs within a reasonable radius. No case or bag but lots of packaging for courier - Interparcel would be around £17 on top. Bank transfer, PayPal no fees or cash.
And there's your problem. It's all in the ears, and we all have different ears.
+1000 I really like TC Electronic amps, some people can't stand them. Once the band kicks in most of the subtle nuances of different amp tones can be drowned out anyway so that it why it is important to get what sounds good to you as you and your amp will spend a lot of time alone together on cosy nights in.

+1 for Shure SE 215s - they are incredibly good for the money. They sometimes come up with damaged packaging on eBay - I got a set that were brand new with all the bits and warranty but no box for under £60.

I've just 'upped the anti' to an RH750 so this is now surplus. Anything you might want to know about specs is on this link http://www.tcelectro...com/classic450/ I've been using this with Barefaced cabs for last couple of years and it is very easy to use and set up in a gigging situation. The Tubetone in particular I find very good as you can dial in a passable tube overdrive emulation from warm to dirty without affecting the volume hugely - so you can make changes on the fly for different sound options. Also the compressor isn't in your face if used with discretion. I tend to use it with the eq flat which, through the Barefaced cabs, is pretty clean - coloured more towards 'old school' than the 'Genz Benz brittle', if you see what I mean. Volume-wise I've used it into 8ohm for rehearsals, master turned up to just 11 or 12 0'clock, less into 4 ohms for gigs. I've now gone over to a one cab set up so felt the need for extra headroom but kept to TC Electronic as I like the tone and overall 'user-friendliness'. This is in pretty decent nick. No issues with the knobs whatsoever. There is a slight dink in the ali casing in one corner and a very slight scuff at the front, other than that is is much as came out of the box. I have no spare kettle leads, though, so this comes without. Speaker out via single speakon, not jack. I'm asking £250 for this, collected from SS7. Could meet half way or deliver for fuel within a reasonable radius. Insured next day courier would be around £15. Not really looking for trades at the moment. Would make a nice partner for my Barefaced Compact, also for sale... I bought Geoff's TC Electronic RH750 in what has to be one of the smoothest transaction I have had. Great price, great comms, arrived really quicky, well packaged and in better condition that I could have hoped for. I look forward to dealing with him again!!

I really like it. Great groove, good interpretation, nice playing all round.
Don't use WD40 on pots. Or bike chains. Jon.
I never use bike chains on my pots. Not since the first time...

I'm not surprised. I paid 4 x that when I bought one and considered it cheap. Good basses!

I can't believe this. Needs a new volume knob. Collection only Barnet. Someone is going to get a huge bargain. Stickler for detail! Tony said you were being similarly OCD about the playing, too I must barge in next time we are both at Mushroom. -
I switch between a Stag EUB and one bass for one band, one bass for second band. I always take a second as back up but never use it. Third band not yet gigging - still one bass but I am having to use effects a little bit. Difficult to get a Muse 'Uprising' sound by changing playing position...

Not sure postage will be viable for me, unfortunately. I'll have a look and see how much I can arrange it for but I think it would be expensive. Alex charges £30 per cab for next day delivery but I can't imagine i could get anywhere near that. Happy to meet for fuel costs or deliver within a reasonable distance but I fear York is a bit far. -

Left Simple Minds early?!! They must be very good friends, because Simple Minds were totally awesome - set the bar for gigs this year. Anyway, full debrief and vids or it didn't happen... -
4ohm Lightweight & powerful carriable cab for small-mid gigs
Paul S replied to DanH71's topic in Amps and Cabs
I haven't tried the others mentioned but, for sure, a Barefaced Midget weighs just 9kgs and you could carry one all day. Certainly it can be driven loud enough for rehearsals and smaller gigs. Quite mid orientated and aggressive little beast, too, but can be tamed with an eq. -
Warwick Rock Bag - bit tatty but works just fine. ears have only 3 screws. £15 collected from SS7 on the North Thames Delta. Probably not worth the cost of posting. Some pictures, just to prove I have actually got them I put a white dot on the cover to the front side of the handle opening using tippex in an attempt to put the bloody thing on the right way each time. And here with my Eden WT300B Traveller head, also for sale http://basschat.co.uk/topic/260770-eden-wt300b-traveller-amp/
