1.
There is some discussion about Oxford being a possible area for the next 'national' meet - does that sit well with most people?
Just checked and my gear's still insured...so yep that's fine.
 2. Someone was also looking for a flight case on the wanted section recently.
 3.
What's Going On.
Good call.
 4. Sunday would be good...
 5. Interesting...keep us posted. Why are they considered one of the best budget basses? I must admit I don't bother with TalkBass, too many people with chips on their shoulders. Prefer this site - more people with chips in their basses!
 6.
Just had my vintage 1965 Ampeg B-15 restored by Steve Rowse http://www.stevesamps.co.uk/ - highly recommended for valve amps.
+1 on Steve. He's a good guy with lots of great advice. He fixed my Trace Elliot combo for me.
 7.
wow 'i'll collect it in the morning! i've got to go to sheperton, so i could go utside the mm25 then flit back in to wards london, thanks G.
Silverfoxnik contacted me and has first dibs on this. Will let you know if he no longer wants it.
 8. Good God. That's more than I paid for mine in 1984!
 9.
Just be polite,straight..and direct. (and have a clear exit)
"...and bear in mind your nearest exit may be behind you..."
 10.
The trouble I have, even since upgrading the pickups, is that clackety/ reedy/ grainy/ brittle sound, that I suppose is the nature of "the sound of wood".
How about putting the original pickups back in? Maybe it's just the EMGs you don't like the sound of. Failing that, buy a G&L. ;-)
 11. 28" Sanyo widescreen TV and stand (like above). TV has an intermittent fault (sometimes the screen goes green) but it may be easy to sort out. Remote control included. Free to collector. We're near junction 4a of the M3 in Hampshire.
 12. Just go with what makes you feel good when you're up there playing, Nik. Don't start flogging stuff off just yet though - allow for a re-think! Truth be told, the punters at the bar are probably hearing a completely different sound anyway. Mind you with that Peavey head, they won't be listening to the sound, they'll be trying to work out why the bass player's brought what looks like a top-loading VHS video recorder with him.
 13. Are you musical though and do you have a suit? Could be a dealbreaker...
 14. Hey very nice... Looks very solid and 1980s. Is it me or was the ash on basses a bit better then? I've got a cheapy Westone Thunder 1A from 84 and it's got the same sort of grain. Perhaps they were a bit more gung-ho with chopping down nice trees back then.
 15.
Here are some of mine
Bejesus... What earth is that??
 16.
Its that time of year again folks when I get to dep with one of the north east's hardest working rock covers bands. I'll be playing the following gigs next weekend; Fri 31-Aug-07 Washington Football Club, Washington, Tyne & Wear Sat 01-Sep-07 The Pheonix, Cramlington, Northumberland Sun 02-Sep-07 Harleys Bar, Sunderland, Tyne & Wear If any basschatters are in the vacinity, come and say hi
Three days in a row? Ouch. What's the band called? Got a web link pls?
 17.
Thanks for the feedback ... MIJ it is then!
Check out the stock/prices on Guitar Emporium.
 18. Most bass players only have suits for weddings, function bands and court appearances... By the looks of their website, they're trying to do the 60s retro thing, so I guess 5-string's a bit too modern. You'd probably look like Buck Rogers wielding your Ken Smith 6-string ironing-board Kiwi. The band sounds good though - think early Cardigans - and they've got loads of gigs coming up. Defo a good one for a 4-string playing, suit wearing, Basschatter. Court appearances allowing, natch.
 19.
You're definitely the King when it comes to getting them at bargain prices!
Can't resist a bargain, me...
 20.
I have just started playing bass semi voluntarily (friends need a bassplayer and I inherited and old Tanglewood rebel that needed repair) but am finding I am really enjoying it.
Haha, it's a familiar tale... Welcome to the low end, it's less hassle than guitar and more enjoyable!

 22.
I keep checking out Nitrotone's stock on ebay. They have a few real nice looking tribute JB2s and SB2s. $60 shipping to the UK makes them all the more alluring btw your Tribute L2K looks great. DJ
Defo worth it with the £ against the $ so strong.
 23.
Wow!! Very nice. So many G&L's on this forum. I think the blueburst is one of the best colour choices. How does it play and sound in comparison with your USA L2500? How long did it take to arrive, and who handled the import paperwork and taxes etc? Nice score. Smokyflipps.
It's got the same quality feel and punchy sound. It feels nice and new, whereas the 5er feels like a comfy old pair of shoes. But straight out of the box, the action was lovely, really playable. It's got a heavyweight feel thanks to the ash but you don't get the birds eye maple that you do on the US models. Gig bag is top notch too - really thick with G&L logo on. Definitely playing it at the next gig. The bass that is - rather than the gig bag.... Bought it from Nitrotone Music on Ebay for $499.00 (got him to price match another guy selling in Oklahoma). Cost $60 to ship via USPS Global Priority (he sorted - that's a really good price). Came out at £280. Then when it arrived, Parcelforce sent me a letter and I went and paid the VAT, import duty and their handling fee which, all up, was £70. Sometimes they don't bill you apparently, sometimes they do. I was advised to always factor it into the cost of anything imported. Took about a week to arrive. In short, no more difficult that mail ordering it over here - but a hell of a lot cheaper. The guy who runs Nitrotone music is called Roger and is really friendly to deal with and easy going about shipping to the UK. Edit: should add that it arrived with a sizeable ding in the back (about size of a 5p) as a result of transatlantic shipping in a gig bag and cardboard box. It's no massive big deal but would defo buy a hard case next time and ask it to be shipped in that.
 24. Fresh in from the States, my new G&L L2000 Tribute. Blueburst on swamp ash, rosewood neck and the US G&L p/ups and electrics. Fit and finish is great, no rough edges and feels really playable. Raspy Musicman tone easily gettable but you can dial up loads of different sounds using the tri-tone electrics. Only the smaller tuners and neck wood (bit blonde and new looking) give it away as a Tribute rather than a new full price US model. That said, these basses normally go for about £550+ new in the UK, so it should be well made! Landed it, inc all taxes, from the US for £350.
