impedance...

Ok... It has a "link" port on the back of the cabs - I can't go from the amp, into the first cab and link it via that to the other cab can I? I'm probably being very very stupid. Apologies, N

impedance...

Sorry - what a stupid thing i've done! They're both 4 ohms. I had a conversation with someone about it before I typed and they'd gone on about 2 ohms something or other. Same question but they're both 4 ohm cabs! I'm having a slow day :s Thanks for the reply though! N
4. Stupid question to some of you I'm sure... I have a Markbass little mark 2 (older model) and 2 ebs proline cabs - 2x10 and 1x15. The cabs are 2ohms each and the head says: OUTPUT POWER 300W RMS @ 8 ohm, 500W RMS @ 4 ohm I want to know if I can use both cabs at the same time... I seem to have forgotten anything about GCSE physics. :s I appreciate any help you can give me - in English if possible! I've tried to upload a picture of the rear panel of the amp for you. Thanks in advance, Nathan

Troy Bar

Am playing in the house band for the next few weeks. Starts at 10.30pm - jazz/funk/fusion stuff with a great band. couple of hours of music then a jam for people to get up and play. Generally pretty busy and a good night! Hope to see you there... Nate P.S. Gig is at TROY BAR which is on Hoxton street. Nearest tube - Old St. (come and say hello if you come down!)
9. Can you book Hadrien Feraud to play??
10. I think it's very much a question of context. In the right places - it's all good but obviously, there is another side to it! If you know how to slap, it doesn't mean you have to. It's just like speaking English. It's great to have a wide vocabulary but just know when to use it. I tend to use the technique in question a lot more when i'm doing a demo because thats what the people who attend those shows want to see. I've tried sitting on a fat groove with my thumb and fingers and people don't seem to take to it as much as when i'm slapping/popping/tapping/fret w***ing... It's definitely a context thing - like anything else. Shredding on guitar isn't going to fit every musical situation but it can be breathtaking (if you're Guthrie Govan!). Knowing when to use the various techniques you've learned is key. Maturity plays a big part too...
11. +1 but I would've been even more cynical... My general rule of thumb is - if it seems too good to be true, it probably is! Man - i'm only 25 but I sound like my dad...
12. Ahhh TM - he used to be a Cort endorsee too you know... Did any of you try a Cort bass.guitar at all? The Artisan series bases are lovely! N
13. Glad you liked it! I actually stopped playing during my jam with Mr Govan. I figured i may aswell try and learn something from such a player!! I didn't learn a thing because of the sheer speed. I hear he plays a lot of other styles but he was in a fairly shreddy mood...! N
14. That'd be me! Playing with that drummer was so much fun! Perhaps it made me overplay but self indulgence seemed to be the order of the weekend!! However - as I was playing on the stand alone, I did play quite a few slower tunes. I'm sick of hearing the same old s**t. Although this video doesn't quite show it, I'm working on changing my sound. I've been to a few shows recently and everyone sounds the same. Time for a change methinks. I'm also hoping that 2009 will be year of the groove so I don't always feel the need to play so many notes in order to impress the people coming round the stand. People only stay and watch if someone is tapping/slapping etc...!! I realise that was a rather sweeping statement and it doesn't apply to everyone but you get my point! I got to jam with Guthrie Govan on the sunday at Music Live. He's a monster!!!! I've been off this site for a while. Great to be back baby! Nate
15.
Can not believe that Weckl and Chambers have only had one mention so far...
I totally agree...!! I'm a big Weckl Freak. Althought - playing with Chambers or Weckl would probably freak me out and I wouldn't be able to find 1 so would have to wait another few bars...!
16. It would have been cool to be the bass player on the Buddy Rich Memorial Concert concert. He got to play with (in one night...): Gregg Bissonette Dennis Chambers Louie Belson Dave Weckl Vinnie Colaiuta Steve Gadd THEN - he got to watch them have a drum "battle" (thats a stupid term) What a lucky Barsteward...

18. The melody isn't too difficult really. I incorporate it into solos every now and then. I played it in a solo in Germany during a solo spot not long ago - They didn't "get" it. Although - i'm not sure what I expected them to do having thought about it...!
19. She seemed fairly demanding...Good singer though....not a note out of tune which was great!
20. Thank you! This is useful! Keep em comin... I've spoken to Laurence and he expressed "some" interest in doing something - i'm trying to track Pino down but i don't think thats gonna happen. I'd probably wet myself if it did anyway!
