1. Hey... I was working at Music Live and had a go on the VT5. What a great sounding amp! I didn't get long but the grit I managed to get out of it was great. Very Pokey and had plenty of bottom end, Well done Mr DHA!
2. RE: Jaco being a Jazz/Funk Widdler.... listen to some other redordings with him on... not many of our favourite bass players would be doing what they're doing without him. It's like anyone great who has existed...Bach, through to Buddy Rich - yeah, people can probably do it better now but nobody was doing it before them and in my opinion there is greatness in that fact. Think about it... N
3. FYI - The plaster is because of the chunk of skin that flew of while doing some Victor-esque triplets...!
4. As promised, here is a pic of the blisters I got while playing hard over the Music Live weekend... Take it easy But take it... N
5. Shame I didn't know about it sooner. I live in the middle of town. I'm gonna try and catch the end...! Just been invited to play at the European Bass day in Germany in December. Linley Marthe is playing!!!! I'm very excited... Hope you're all gooooooooooood N
6. Hey! Wow - thank you for the kind comments...!! Was great to meet some fellow bass chatters. I'm still extremely tired from the weekend after working two stands non stop. I'll post the picture of my fingers soon. Possibly the best blisters I've ever had!! Though I was past the blister stage....boo hoo. I got to jam with Jerry Brown (drummer) who was doing a clinic. He's a great player - so much fun to play with. Check him out! Anyway - thanks again for the kind comments. The Purple Haze thing was just a bit of a jokey tribute to Jimi and Jaco.... Take it easy N
7. Just wanted to see if anyone will be attending Music Live this year. It's this coming weekend... I'll be working for Cort and Ampeg so come and say hello!!! Take it easy N
8. I'd agree with Alun about his walking theory. 1 finger but sometimes adding a second for a little sparkle. I often use my thumb (not in the slapping or muting sense). I guess that means I sometimes use 3 fingers.....oh dear - I lied in the poll..... I'm trying to use my ring finger too but am finding it gets in the way of consistancy...practice methinks.
9. Try Portriat of Tracy. That'll sort your harmonics out...! Amazing Grace is a fun one to play though. Sliding harmonics is great!

Let's jam!

Well.....?? I like the sound of it. Don't hide the dates!!
11. I'm considering the singing bass player thing.... I suppose it only works for losers like Paul McCartney and Sting etc.....
12. I need a SERIOUS bass player to play in what I suppose would be a Maroon 5 esque band. I'm talking an experienced player who can play the crap out of the instrument with his/her fingers (no pleck players please - its not that kind of gig...) Preferably early to mid 20s... I'm a bass player but i'll be fronting the band and playing g.g.g.g.guitar... Anyway - let me know if you think you're up to it. Wouldnt mind a listen befor I commit to anythin! [email protected] Hope you're all goooooooood Nate

14. Ampeg SVT-410HLF.....have you used one? Wondering how u got on...
15. what a strange one... not asking for any bank details or anything...!
16. OP and I have just finished touring with Gruff Rhys from the Super Furry Animals. I have also worked with John Jorgenson (guitar)...
17. Blimey - Paul Cooke, I was just sharing info with the bassers. Not selling anything to you. Purely thought it migh be of some intrest to a couple of people! I think there are developments in process to have an even more interactive experience. it's called "the multiplayer", i'm not sure what you think that means..., thats just the title. Paul,The - thanks for the kind words....hope you're good! N
18. I'm the musical director for a new company called Showmehowtoplay.com Thought the lovely folks here at basschat would like to check it out. Check out the groundbreaking "multiplayer". Some of the songs on the site may be a little basic for some of you monsters on here but i'm sure you'll appreciate the concept! Theres also a forum where people can chat/request songs/ask questions. www.showmehowtoplay.com Just to clarify - i'm not trying to drive traffic away from here...! Hope you're all well Nate

21. I have a pair of the Samsons.... They work for me!
22. Trumpet player is Rob Heasman... He'll be playing in my band at the Joogleberry playhouse in Brighton on the 22nd of august. Kind of soul r&b tyoe stuff. I'll be singing and strumming a g-g-g-g-guitar though...... eeeek
23. Oh yeah - thats his double bass in the background...!
24. He came into work not long ago. Go to www.showmehowtoplay.com and watch him playin "straight no chaser". Hes on a Live session thing at the bottom of the page. (Me on drums btw) His bass played nicely - he had tape strings on. It's the only bass hes ever owned. It's a fuzz switch on the bass but he said it was a bit sh*te. Mr Fender's signature on there though - can't be bad. N
