  1. I am an electrician, working in London. Several of my customers are musicians; I normally spot that pretty quickly when going through their house and start up a conversation about music. Most are employees of orchestras but I've met the odd bassist. One of my old customers, whose rental properties I work on, needed me to fix a fault at her home. I walked in to find a Ricky 4001 perched up against the kitchen cabinets. It was her husband's and they had no idea I played bass.
  2. Sort of. I like shiny bright coloured basses. When the collection got to 10 following the purchase of the gold/yellow/cream Reverend, I realised I nearly had a rainbow of basses, so I arranged them in colour frequency order in my rack. Anyone else got some bright and shiny basses to show off?
  3. Yes, he makes quite a lot of extremely functional devices. I've been tempted by either the micro or nanapara EQpedals.
  4. I'm very happy with mine. Ordered off Ebay, arrived a day later! Just what I wanted: an HPF in pedal format with decent cut (I wanted more than 12db) and a variable frequency cut off. I have a micro thumpinator, which is quite a bit dearer and has much less functionality (but apparently is a 36db cut off). Mine doesn't work, so I'm not a fan, though I haven't heard anyone else complaining of faulty microthumpinators, so I'll give SFX sound the benefit of the doubt.
  5. Or you could promote the Scottish economy and buy one of these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175805626444 I have one. 24db/octave reduction, variable frequency cut off, operated by a stomp (though I leave mine as a permanent on at about 35Hz)
  6. This is how Mr Rafferty describes his product: The HPF Pre-2 is a very handy utility tool, predominantly for Bassists. This little box is a preamp with controls including an adjustable high pass filter, independent volume control, and a phase switch. This box is a great tool for some sound related issues bass players can experience using amps or PA systems, by tuning out subharmonic thump and wool, and focusing sound in general. It has a filter cutoff adjustable from 35hz to 150hz, and runs using a standard 9v centre tip negative supply. I haven't used this, apart from seeing whether it worked or not. I took it to a gig in the summer, wrapping it in that stuff you see under cutlery trays to stop them sliding about-I use the stuff between head and cabinet. Unfortunately, the weather was so hot, it got stuck to the HPF in places, see photos. Apart from that, this is how I received it from Mr Rafferty. I live in Barnet, close to High Barnet tube, or just south of where the A1 meets the M25, in case anyone wants to come and pick it up.
  7. For sale is my Genzler re/Q pedal. It has adjustable high pass and low pass filters, and a 5 band EQ. The filters and EQ can be engaged together or separately via two independent foot switches. There is also an overall output knob. The pedal is in perfect condition and comes with the box, candy etc. No velcro on this one. I live in Barnet, close to High Barnet tube and not far from where the A1 meets the M25, if you want to pick it up in person.
  8. Aguilar Octamizer for sale. Seems to be in perfect nick, with added velcro on the bottom. Comes with the original box. I live in Barnet, not far from High Barnet tube station and close to where the M25 meets the A1, if anyone wants to pick this up in person.
  9. So its this time of year again! No gigs booked for Nov 11th so I'll turn up. I think I'll bring my Reverend Decision P, Gallien-Krueger Fusion S 1200 and Barefaced Midget. It will be nice to see some faces from last year.
  10. I've got several heads that have an Aux in and a headphone input, so, on those occasions I can't make any noise at all, I just plug my iPad and headphones into those. I bought a bass on a short break in Scotland recently. I practised at night in my hotel room with a GK Legacy/iPad/headphones. The GK Legacy has been my main gigging amp this year.
  11. Welcome to the forum mate.
  12. Congrats on the new Ric. One day, I'll get one myself.
  13. So the Guitarguitar price is £1079, discounted from £1149, which it 'was' beforehand. As this has been on sale for less than 24 hours, how many minutes was it priced at £1149 I wonder?
  14. 🤣 Arsenal's karma. Ask your wife what the George Graham years were like. Arsenal used to have a song: "One-nil, to the Arsenal..." Known to be really boring but then Arsene Wenger came along and everything changed. Ok back to bass stuff...
  15. I was at a Spurs-Arsenal match at White hart Lane many moons ago. We were winning 2-1 but Arsenal were battering us, Van Persie, in particular, was constantly in and around our box knocking shots in. The last 10 minutes of the game were particularly painful, we were just hanging on. I called out to the people around me, "Is anybody enjoying this?". No one answered but one of the other season ticket holders, seated in front, looked around at me with a really pained look on his face. We had all paid good money to be tortured. Gigs are better, even if no one dances.
  16. I'm an ex Spurs season ticket holder. I don't think it's possible to go to matches and also play in a band; too many gigs are on match days. There isn't enough time, to do both and also go to work. I chose to drop the football, I enjoy music more.
  17. And I was just starting to like you😞
  18. No it ain't. I support Spurs. To understand my pain you would have to support them too.
  19. I recall @dclaassen mentioning in a previous thread that you had just moved from the U.S. to the back end of nowhere and were finding it very tough to find bandmates. Well it looks like you found some and if you have 20 songs down you all must have had plenty of rehearsals already. A gig booked is great but you haven't got a drummer, so unless you find one soon the gig isn't likely to happen. I can understand you might want to persevere, as its often difficult finding non-flaky bandmates, even in London, but if the others aren't on the same page as you it's going to be painful. Like you mentioned above, a frank discussion would be a very good idea.
  20. Conveniently for you, Merchant City Music are in Glasgow. If you want a certain Reverend in a certain colour, I would call them.
  21. That's quite a story, reminds me of Constable Savage from Not the 9 O'Clock News fame.
  22. ? tried googling that but nothing came up. Enlightenment required sir.
  23. My default is using a pick but certain songs we play sound right, to me, with fingers. I have come to the conclusion that in a covers band, playing songs written by different bands, keeping the bass tone constant isn't important.
  24. We're playing the Flint Cottage in High Wycombe tomorrow evening.
  25. I will admit I had a slight preference for the Mercalli sound over the Decision P when I tried them both out in Merchant City Music. Both sounded good, but the appearance of the Decision P swung it for me. The sort of music my covers band plays suits the Decision P well too. I would imagine Reverend decided to retire the Decision and bring out the Decision P due to the Decision looking a bit odd, with two mismatched pick ups.
