  1. Love Cross the Tracks. Are you familiar with Just Kissed My Baby by The Meters? What about Roy Ayers' Life is Just a Moment Pt2? Oh the list is endless.
  2. I agree with this. I used the word genre as it relates to the marketing of the product. And the marketing team very often aren't actual musicians.
  3. Let's not leave out Nathaniel Phillips from the band Pleasure. He's criminally overlooked historically. There are many...
  4. Your definition of funk might explain why it's so appealing to dancers. Take it to the dance floor and it might make a bit more sense. The Northern Soul movement(as another example)relies on a very specific sound for the dancers. Repetition and a solid reliable rhythmic pulse seems to be the bedrock and anything else might work against the individuals' dance moves and physical expression. Country dancing music generally all sounds the same,I was forced to do it in primary school. It's music for a specific scene. Not into that particular scene? Fair enough. There's a genre for everybody.
  5. I take learn them and forget them to mean learn a given structure and then apply without rigid dogmatic confinements. Not literally to forget. Something Bruce Lee said apparently. I quite like the philosophy.
  6. Based on the absence of(more) photos can I assume you're in no hurry to sell?
  7. You'll get differing views naturally but I once owned a Sadowsky SPB-2 preamp pedal and it was nothing short of sensational live. Gave me severe GAS for an actual Sadowsky bass that did. Bear in mind it offers no midrange eq and is boost only. Small turns of the knobs go a long long way.
  8. If only they stopped at the Jazz 🫣
  9. Lovely looking bass. Did you mean 9/10 condition or even 10/10?
  10. Yes brand power is very real. When I got my first ever Fender bass (Mexican 70s classic series) I thought I was floating on air for some reason...and Fender knows this happens so...
  11. Maybe not the most prolific but Doug Wimbish has had flirtations with Ibanez and currently Spector. Not sure who else to be honest. Maybe that was it.
  12. The OP listed him as an exception ☺️
  13. Which Squiers tend to do in my personal experience.
  14. Okay so I've been up all night thinking about this(joking of course). Google didn't bring back any results though 🤔
  15. My thoughts exactly.
  16. This MTD Kingston is being released this year? I'm liking what I see of it so far.
  17. Only with the ceramic pickups and poplar body and place of manufacture it's actually just a Squier rebadged at a higher price point. I would compare these to the Squier Affinty Series based on the ceramic pickups.
  18. Ooh I'm liking the look of that 👀
  19. 5 strings. Flat wide fretboard. 19mm bridge string spacing. Parallel frets.I don't do headless basses or white/clear pickguards.
  20. Always had it in my head it was a record label and not a genre 🤔 A bit like Northern Soul is just a certain strain of soul music played in clubs up in the north of England.
  21. I walked away from buying a Fender Marcus Miller V for this very same reason.
  22. Pleased to see the return of Nordstrand Big Single pickups on the Ibanez BTB,this time on the Standard Series. Never ever got on with those licensed non USA "Barts".
  23. With ceramic pickups and poplar bodies these seem a lot like Fender branded Squier Affinity basses to me 🤔
  24. I'll tag along for a reason for this also. I'm a dedicated 5 string player and many tuners don't pick up the low B. Currently getting success with the clip on Snark Super Tight and the Mooer baby tuner pedal. But others I've had have given problems.
  25. That's made my day 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
