1. I'd like one. Anyone selling a 4 string?
2. Apparently he spent 54 pages going on about how right he was and how wrong the judge and everybody else was according to all the reviews.
3. Liked him when he first appeared and bought all the Smiths albums. Since then I've found his solo stuff unlistenable, power-chord Pub Rock of the worst kind and he is now a bitter and twisted narcissistic twit and a colossal bore. Why did he think it was perfectly all right not to pay the drummer and BASS PLAYER in his band? Truculence indeed.
4. Tonight!!!!!!!!!!!
5. Tomorrow! Please come along (very difficult to get Basschatters to leave their homes and come out to gigs - you're such a stay-in and watch Jools or Glastonbury bunch, you lot)
6.
Here are my babies!
magic..
7. I'd love to try this. Never seen one in the flesh before.
8. Flickr drives me MAD looking for the url code! You have to go through several stages to find it. They changed it a while ago and now no one knows how to link to a .jpeg photo anymore. Mind- bogglingly Idiotic.
9. "they could form a band together and escape the confines of south London" What confines? Bloody cheek.
10. Chris Salmon's band, Tuner: http://www.chrissalmonart.co.uk/tuner.htm
11.
Break a leg tonight Kev. I will make it to a gig one day I promise - unfortunately a heavily pregnant wife means no evening hi-jinks for the next few weeks at least.
It'll only get more difficult to get out when the baby arrives!
12. I don't miss any of the basses I've sold over the years, even if they had some good qualities.
13.
there must be some more owners on here, how about some more pics :^)
i don't think there are. I've never seen a CT owner here on Basschat. They're incredibly rare here - and are usually owned by Americans.
14. The other thing I like is there is great emphasis on keeping the body as thin as possible (hence the raised bit where the controls are). A thin-bodied bass feels so much nicer than some big Fender lump.
15. The carving and thought put into how an instrument relates to the human body...that's what i admire. Just simple things like the way the lower horn is carved on the back. It's all designed in harmony with human dimensions.
16. I finally played one early this year. The owner claimed it was once played by Stan Clarke in RTF and had been purchased for £23,000 by a rich girlfriend (I didn't know whether to believe him or not). Truly astonishing instrument in terms of balance, feel, dimensions and ergonomic brilliance. When you play one of these instruments you suddenly realise why the design is so influential - in fact Carl Thompson is the MOST influential designer of the bass guitar after Leo Fender. Some people don't understand - they think it's all about scrolls, ornate woods and cosmetics, etc. Er, no I don't have one, I'm afraid but I admire this example on Talkbass:
17.
Though a lot of people aren't on Facebook, so you'll need something else too.
Virtually everyone who follows music or plays in a band is on FB now. The ones that aren't find it difficult to organise gigs and let their fans know what's going on. Musicians who resist it seem to have some misguided notion that's it's somehow more vulgar to self promote and 'like' in the way FB protocol demands ...but it's really nothing at all.
