the point is it is used again, they cut it for a while then stopped cutting it, it is a part of history (it is a true story), we learn from history not by ignoring it but by learning from it, by seeing how things were we can see how far we've come

sure I heard an interview with somebody who mixed Brown Sugar, Jagger wanted the vocal as low as possible because he was aware of the contentious lyrical content. There are hundreds of songs out there that have dodgy lyrics most people sing along without even thinking about it, I'm certainly one of those that doesn't think about lyrics I just sing them without a clue of what they're about. I've never even thought about that lyric from Substitute before this thread

imo, there's a world of difference between babies a pubescent girls (not saying in any way that's ok btw)

there's loads of pop/rock stars that have behaved badly towards young girls (and Boys), most got away with it GG didn't, if we didn't listen to their records it would be a long list of what we can't listen too, I can listen to his records and enjoy them (fortunately I never got into the Lost Prophets that could be tricky), in fact two of the most memorable gigs I went to were the Glitter Band (different versions) and they went down a storm when they did GG songs, people loved it, probably because you don't hear them anymore and it was a little bit naughty

won't make me like or dislike their music any more or less, but I do make a point of watching programmes when the likes of Rick Wakeman or (in recent years) Noel Gallagher is in them, a little bit of self depreciation goes a long way imo

never noticed that before, but yeah live vocals, I reckon or bloody good miming which, judging by the way they're 'playing' their instruments wouldn't happen

so if you live in London you can just about get away with it (but you must be severely restricting your options) provided the venue has PA and drum shells but I suspect it's a no no anywhere else, I've had a go at busking a couple of times in Nottingham, caught the bus with my acoustic guitar small Roland amp and mic and stand, not a very pleasant experience tbh (the busking or the bus ride)

this, it's not just your own gear, we split the PA lights etc up between us, we all carry our share, I wouldn't entertain having a band member that hasn't got transport

there's been a thread about this before, I think the consensus was being able to make a living at it, i.e. pack up your day job
