  1. Really? I am genuinely shocked. I've uses IPA wipes for ages, and usually find they leave strings almost too clean and clear initially. I don't understand how they could make them duller.
  2. Reading through all these differences in practices and organisations has made me appreciate my own church a lot more. We have three regular bands, each with a regular sound engineer. Practices are in the week before, Tuesday or Friday depending on the band, and on Sunday morning there is a final run through of whatever length is needed, stopping half an hour before the service starts. Newbies, e.g. me, are encouraged to sit in on rehearsals and gain confidence with a band before playing live. We still change keys during rehearsal, repeat verses in the service at no notice, sometimes forget who is playing this week and so on, but there is an understanding from everyone that if we're going to do this we should do it right. Best of all we have a congregation who do like to sing up, appreciate good music, and are very forgiving and occasionally amused when something goes horribly wrong.
  3. That sounds like a great service! Hope it goes really well!
  4. Keyboard players are cool- just keep your left hand in your pocket to make space in the mix for the bass ๐Ÿ˜‚
  5. It's to prove your not a bot. Or a guitarist... Welcome aboard!
  6. I recently found that SongSelect will let you download a lot of the chord charts with Nashville Numbers, rather than chord names on. My plan was to use those, and thus train my ears better to learn where the chords go. Haven't played in church since! On the other hand I have finished a couple of songs, one of which has come out even better than expected.
  7. Welcome aboard! Definitely the place to learn stuff - lots of friendly, knowledgeable, folks here.
  8. There's the one behind the stage where @Andyjr1515 gave a talk on a previous bash. Maybe Weather Report were playing a silent gig there, and the hall just assumed we were the road crew?
  9. Book for next spring (hint - so we can all get it on the calendar!) but put in the condition that they invoice for the one just gone before the end of the year.
  10. Definitely go for a custom stand that lifts the instrument higher than normal so the controls are off the floor. Then you have two bespoke items ๐Ÿ˜ I'll stop now, I have nothing else useful I can add, as I really like the shape.
  11. Oh no..... Burley GAS attack! ๐Ÿ™ƒ
  12. You're obviously not sentimental about the design you made with your father. If it were me I would want to preserve the shape (and potentially not damage that fab tone) and so would go for the option on the far left as the minimal change. To solve the leaning issue? Sit down with Dad again, assuming he's still around, and design a custom folding stand.
  13. You look at the that set of album covers and know it's a sterotypical 1970's white, all male, rock band. Then listening to the first track the slidehow is more of the same, until one of the pictures is of the band - and you were right! ๐Ÿ˜ Good songs though. ๐Ÿ‘
  14. You should be! It looks like it could be old, then you realise the shape is definitely something modern. And the EMGs will be excellent, because they just are. That is officially a Very Cool Guitar.
  15. Still lots available, and as I finish a pot every 12 day or so there probably always will be. ๐Ÿ˜
  16. Welcome aboard! Lots to talk about, lots of different genres, and lots of friendly people. Hope you make yourself at home quickly.
  17. Came up on my Spotify discover playlist. Never heard of the band before, good old AOR!
  18. Welcome aboard! As everyone says if you can find real people to play with you improve much faster than practicing on your own. That said - if you stick with SBL for the technique and theory you'll learn loads. (Like I haven't ! )
  19. Welcome aboard! I think you'll fit right in! ๐Ÿ˜
  20. ๐Ÿ˜ Like that! Duly passed on to Dave, and to a mate who lives in Rhyadar.
