  1. Man, you're getting rid of some great amps!
  2. Anything above a 4-string is weird. There was a 12-string bass on No Treble the other day - NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
  3. I recently upgraded to a proper Höfner hard case, so this very well-made and protective gigbag is now surplus to requirements. As you’ll see from the pix, it’s in mint condition (it’s been out of the house probably fewer than a dozen times) and is really well padded, perfect for any of the Höfner violin basses – the proper 500/1, the 500/1 HCT or the Chinese-made Ignition – or indeed for the 500/2 Club basses. The current Artist Line bags have a slightly different design, as they don’t offer the handy net pocket on top of the main storage pocket, which itself is big enough for a laptop, iPad or A4 sheet music, plus cables, tuner, etc. Thomann retail the current model at £48, so this is a bargain at £30, plus postage – I have a perfect box – or you can collect from Mapperley in Nottingham (tea and biscuits always available!).
  4. I bought this awesome pedal from @Dons of this parish a few weeks ago (who I thoroughly recommend if you find yourself doing business with him), but I’m moving it on as it’s rather too big for use on my desk when cabled up, and bought a much smaller plastic Chinese one instead. The replacement would never withstand gigging use, but does the job in my home studio. The RC20XL, on the other hand, is built like a tank and can be used for looping vocals as well as your bass, because it has a manual anmicrophone input. It’s boxed and comes with all the bells and whistles, including the manual and a very useful library of backing tracks on CD. You can use it mono or stereo and also link it to up to three footswitches – very useful add-on - using the very popular/common FS-5U or the dual FS-6. Liran (Dons) has very kindly allowed me to use his original post and pix, as nothing has changed since I bought it from him, and I’m selling it on at the same price I paid, £70 plus postage. Collection from Mapperley in Nottingham also available, with free tea and biscuits! I can tuck in a spare FS-5U footswitch, if you want it, for an extra £15 (s/h ones usually go for about £20 on Fleabay). I’m afraid it didn’t come with a power supply, but it uses six (6!) AA batteries, which I’ll throw in for free.
  5. Transparency alert: I bought this in an auction a few months ago, when I was on the lookout for a P to mod as a backup for my Shuker JJB, but I’m not going ahead with that project now, so it’s surplus to requirements. The pickup has never been used, as far as I can tell, and still has the clear plastic protecting the covers – see pix – and comes with fixing screws and wiring diagram, as shown. Judging by the YT video I’ve linked to, it creates a really warm, rich and deep tone, but as I’ve never used it, I can’t really provide direct observations. These are around £135 new. Get yourself a bargain for £70 collected (from Mapperley in Nottingham – free tea and biccies!) or £75 posted. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4wgZIfZMFE&t=28s&ab_channel=Fender

  6. There is some very boutique bonkers-ness going on in this thread now. Time for a reset?
  7. Beautiful. I wonder where the “Duck Dunn” bass is now?
  8. Your tolex repair looks great. But how does the 12 ohm thing work in practice? GLWTS, by the way.
  9. But have you seen Living Colour live? Doug Wimbish has a massive pedalboard or three and he’s bl**dy incredible.
  10. Excuse my ignorance, Brian, but what is a 10/90 neck?
  11. What’s irrational about any of that? 🤣
  12. Literally just bought an OEM Hofner one, but thanks for all your hard work on YT and the podcast - I don't imagine trying to make a living from it can be as easy as it might look.
  13. What a fantastic looking bass! Good luck with the sale.
  14. Yeah, but it's... Well, you get the idea 😂
  15. Drivers pulling out right to turn left. People who use wet spoons in sugar. Fodera basses. Gym bunnies.
  16. Oof! That looks awesome. Beautiful, clean work.
  17. I'm really sorry about that - apologies for my facetiousness. I hope the op goes well and that you're back on your feet very soon after.
