  1. TL;DR: It's a super Flea Jazz. You know you want it! This is my Flea Jazz, won back in March in a competition run by BassBros (thanks, Will!). They’re based on a 1961 Jazz given to Flea by a fan, but this one was built in March 2019, so just over six years old. The relic work by Fender Mexico is excellent, and a great deal more realistic than some of the ridiculous stuff turned out by the Custom Shop recently. Given that it is pre-dinged and rubbed front, back and sides, the bass is in great nick. A friend pointed out over the weekend that the fretboard looked a bit dry, so yesterday I gave it some TLC (and lemon oil) and it’s really bucked it up. Weight is 4.1Kg (9 lb). The bass is strung with rounds, I assume Fender’s own, but I cannot be sure. All I have done in the short time I’ve owned it is replace the strap buttons with Schaller S-locks in nickel finish, to go with the vibe of the existing hardware. I had intended, if I’d decided to keep it, to do a bit of careful relicing of the bridge, pup covers, screw heads and the S-locks themselves. The machine heads (reverse-geared) are lovely vintage things with a wonderful patina, so I would have left those as they are. However, I’ve been out of work and on the sick for several months now and I need cash, so I’m slowly thinning the herd when necessary, and it came down to a straight choice between this and my SBMM Joe Dart as to which was going to have to go next. This is a lovely thing, but the Ray has a beautiful neck, which I find faster and more playable, even though they’re both 38mm at the nut and the Flea undoubtedly has more tonal options, with its twin concentric knobs. Anyway, she’s gotta go. Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth! I’m not looking for trades (see above) and – looking at recent sales here – I think £775 is fair, especially with the S-locks. A new Flea Jazz is £1349 in places like Andertons and GuitarGuitar. I’ll also throw in the little teeny-weeny D’Addario tuner you can see in the pix (original machine-head screw and strap buttons included). And there’s a plush Fender Deluxe gigbag, also pictured. I have a suitable box, so I’m happy to post to the UK at the buyer’s cost (it’ll be about £25 insured). Or you can collect from Mapperley in Nottingham (tea/coffee and biscuits available). Or I’m up for a meetup within a 45-minute drive from home.
  2. Wow. The parts alone must be worth double your asking price. If only I wasn’t in selling mode this month. GLWTS, true bargain.
  3. I’m a bit confused (and ignorant). Does it not have the usual P pickup because it’s a Cabronita, i.e. do Cabronitas all have a TV Jones? I suppose I’m asking what makes this a Cabronita?
  4. What’s the Framestrap, NJ?
  5. That’s quite a difference from £1595. You really need to edit your headline. GLWTS.
  6. Really sorry about the arthritis, I have the same issue and I don’t want to think about the future, tbh. Pictures to show condition might be nice, not to say de rigueur on here. GLWTS, it’s a very good price.
  7. +1 Mine is slowly getting worse and I dread the day it stops me playing. GLWTS - you and your luthier clearly did a wonderful job.
  8. Hiya. I'm assuming this is no longer on hold three months later and with a price drop, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Pete
  9. Also perhaps your location, plus another 20 pix showing innards, date stamps, etc., please.
  10. So good, they named it twice! Seriously, these are an awesome proposition at a great price. GLWTS.
  11. I simply cannot understand why this is still on here, Andy, especially at such a ridiculously low price. Have a bump from me!
  12. Or you could go for this one on Reverb! 😃 GLWTS.
  13. It did seem a lot! Mind you, it’s been around for a few days now with no bids.
  14. I know there's a lot of love for these on here (and not a lot for the recent Epiphone version - or was that a Ripper?). Anyway, there's a very pretty one up for auction in Cirencester next week - link here: https://www.i-bidder.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/cotswold/catalogue-id-cotswo10292/lot-483de1ce-d86a-4da4-89e7-b2f900eb6445 Way out of my price range, but the starting price is £1300, with an estimate of £2200 - £2800. Plus all the fees (28.95%). Anyway, if it's your thing, have at it!
  15. I’ve just sold an OLP MM5 Stingray five-string to Ash, in what I think must have been his first BC transaction. He came over (a 90-minute drive), played the bass superbly through my minimalist rig and we had a great chat about basses, gear and life in general. The whole process was an absolute delight and I can heartily recommend Ash to other BCers who might be thinking about doing business with him in the future.
  16. I was a bit surprised, but I think we're on the move now!
  17. @glassmoon Let me have a think (and do a bit of a research). I’ll PM you when I know a bit more about the Sadowsky, probably with questions!
  18. I've just completed the sale of a Markbass combo to Paul and the whole process has been a delight. He's a great communicator and paid so promptly that it took me by surprise! While everything's been going through, we've had a great chat and I can highly recommend him to any other BCer who deals with him in the future. Thanks, Paul.
  19. Perhaps that’s why it’s being discontinued? It’s no longer for “this day and age”. I don’t think it’s normally a problem, having lived for several years in France using British electrical equipment and vice versa, but I have no idea about the warranty thing, tbh.
  20. I did a swap with Paddy last week - my Flanger (ooh, Missus) for his MB super booster. It ws a pleasure to do business with him - highly recommended!
  21. Don't know if this is of interest to anyone, but they're knocking 300 euros off the price of the STU Amp 1000 head on their site as they're discontinuing the model. Link here: https://www.markstore.it/product/mb-stu-amp-1000/ I haven't checked out shipping costs, etc., but I doubt if they add up to more than the saving! Of course, you'd need a plug adapter for use in the UK.
