  5. Yeah! @Dandelion! What have you bought?
  6. There's a thread about them here:
  7. They're really not.
  8. In my (very humble) opinion, the Westone Thunder is a fantastic instrument. My first bass was a Westone 1A Thunder (single pickup, active), and I've never had a bass that I got on with as well. I never used it active, 'cos I used to gig a lot & batteries are just something else that can go wrong. I also used it for all the recordings that we did & would trust it for reliability & tone implicitly. I still have that bass & I'd never ever let it go. They're built like a tank and sound ace! For £150 - condition dependent, you can't go wrong. 👍
  9. Hiya Alan from rainy Manchester! There's nothing humble about a Squier P bass! Good luck! 👍

  11. As this was built during lockdown (#1 ), I ordered the polyurethane spray and primer cans from Amazon. I'll dig out the photos I took during the build so I can confirm what brands and colour codes were.
  12. Good advice - and a lovely looking bass!
  13. They are excellent! I was devastated when I thought mine was unrepairable. (Matamp fixed it )

    Hello

    Hiya Steve
  16. Have a look at the Eden WTDI as well - less than half the price of the Plex.
  17. Now that I've had a chance to have a good mess around with the Plex, a few thoughts: Due to each knob having a secondary function when pressed down, it takes quite a lot of getting used to, as do the very bright white LEDs However, for tone shaping, there are multiple ways to get the tone you're after, plus the 'voice' option, which gives you amp sims of Gallien-Krueger’s 800RB, Fusion 550, MB800, and MB150 heads. It should be no problem to tweak the 'darker' tones of a short scale. The compressor is very good & quite flexible - makes a difference! I don't normally use overdrive, but I had a play and you get 5 settings from mild drive to buzzsaw metal! Plus of course, the usual level / tone controls. I like the mild OD setting on this. It's not cheap, but I'd recommend it - however, I have also used the Eden WTDI for a couple of years in home & open mic situations, and you might achieve something similar with this, at a lower cost. It's also very good. In summary: Pretty comprehensive tone shaping.
  18. Hiya Shep 👍🏻
  19. This thread ⬇️ might be a little out of date, but there's loads of useful info about the Sessioncake thingy on there. 👍
  20. There are lots of ways you can achieve what you're after - the mini mixer approach should work fine. This ⬇️ is another possibility. I got one earlier in lockdown & it's quite good. You can chain them to rehearse together: https://europe.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/guitars_basses/amps_accessories/sessioncake/index.html SC-01 No amp, no cabinet, no pedals… just a guitar or bass, some headphones, and SessionCake SC-01 are all you need for intensive individual practice or a full-blown rehearsal or jam session. Connect up to 8 SessionCakes together to create a fully featured mixing system where everyone can create the mix that works for them. Portable, lightweight, battery powered, and equipped with a Hi-Z input, the SC-01 also features an AUX-in port that allows you to use an iOS device as an effector, or play along with your music library.
  21. Rickenbacker.
  22. Sounds good!
  23. Apologies for late response - not been checking up on my notifications I used poly spray cans, with a metal primer spray as a base. So: metal primer spray -> colour poly -> clear poly.
  24. My Yammy BB has this: https://europe.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/guitars_basses/el_basses/bb_2017/index.html
