  1. I subscribed to @greghagger 's free email service, which I've found mainly useful (I didn't expect everything to be relevant to me). I appreciate the effort that people like Greg put into getting this material together, and although I'm no fan of YouTube, still find ot useful on occasion. I block YouTube videos on this site by default, and only unblock them if they're of interest. I suggest those offended by this sort of thing do the same. 'YouTube Culture' is a thing, but so is going out of the way to be offended/outraged/appalled by other people's posts. Man up. I still sadly remember how Scott from SBL was hounded by some BC people - not a good look. Live & let live.

  3. Either re-shaped the headstock, or more likely, defretted (badly!)
  4. Hiya Trevge1 Really sorry to hear about your flooding disaster - pretty awful! Hope you get sorted! 👍🏼
  5. *whispers* Do it, Ricky, you know you want to...
  6. Good call! I have & would recommend the Gretsch Junior Jet II short scale bass: https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=gretsch+baSS Where abouts are you located?
  7. I've never played a Marlin bass, so can't comment - someone on here will be able to either recommend or not though. For an entry level bass, there are loads available, and the quality of some is very good for the money. Yamaha, Ibanez or Squier (avoid the Affinity range) are all decent at the less-expensive range. https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/yamaha/guitars/bass/ https://www.gear4music.com/Bass_Guitars/Ibanez_Bass_Guitars.html https://www.andertons.co.uk/brands/squier/squier-jazz-basses?#facet:&productBeginIndex:0&facetLimit:&orderBy:&pageView:grid&minPrice:&maxPrice:&pageSize:& https://www.gak.co.uk/en/squier-bass-guitars?page=0#&auto=true&b=68&cat=30 Good luck! 👍🏼
  8. Vous êtes un twerp! Un twerp Belgiqué!
  9. Do it! The build quality is the best I've ever seen.
  10. I'm not sure! I haven't taken a screwdriver to it yet Can't see anything in the blurb, but I think you're right, it probably is for the adjuster. I'll report back when I've found out 👍
  11. When I played it through an amp, it was very quiet when I had the volume on low, and very noisy when I turned it up! To my ears, the bass has a round tone with a bit of growl soloing the neck (P) pup, the J pup soloed has a much more thin & toppy sound as you'd expect. The tone selector gives you the choice of both pups in series or parallel. In series, there's a lovely punchy tone with plenty of depth. However, in parallel is for me where this bass comes to life. Very growly, deep sound with a bit of top-end presence, and a darkness to the sound which I love. Very pleased
  12. Thanks GuyR. The neck profile is very similar to the 'C' shape on my Jazz - maybe a wee bit skinnier. Godin describes it as 'Series Standard', which tells you precisely naff all! With the satin finish, it's very comfortable. 12" radius on the fretboard. From the brief time I've had to play it it's very quick & easy to play.
  13. It's where I store the tears of all those who've taken the P, after I play the bass to them as a punishment.
