4.
Nice one, cheers Nik, hope it turns out ok for you.
Hi Mark Got a chance to check it out yesterday and it's a great piece of kit, really solid and well-made and it looks good too. Within two minutes of using it I managed to balance up the output levels on my Roscoe Beck V string, which has a really low output, with my Wal Pro2e which has a really high output.. Something that's been frustrating me for a long time at gigs. A couple of really nice features on it are the 'bright' switch, which adds a bit of zing back to your sound if the reduction in output levels affects the top end of your louder bass. Plus the Mute feature and Tuner out make it a very versatile addition to your pedalboard. The only tiny niggle I have about it is that whilst it says it's 'true bypass', I'm not absolutely 100% sure that it is. To me, there's a small but detectable difference that it makes to your sound.. However, it's such a small difference (mainly in the top end) that you'd never notice it in a gig situation.. Overall, I think it's fantastic value for the money!
 5. I haven't tried the new Hartke range, which seems to be getting rave reviews, but I did have a Hartke HA3500 2 years ago and I just couldn't get a sound out of it that I liked; it was too sterile sounding even when using the valve preamp to try to dirty it up. But I've had 3 Peavey amps over the years - a Session Bass, the T-Max and one of the old 1980's Mark IV head with 2 channels which I still own - and I much prefer them tonally to the HA3500. It's all about personal taste though, so the only way to know for sure would be to try both amps out if you can.
 6. That's the sort of stuff I can hear in my head but can never play.. He has a charm about his playing style; it looks technically challenging to do but he doesn't make it feel or sound like that, which is really cool..
 7.
BTW - My other half's calling me a saddo.
Goes with the territory I'm afraid.. But who cares when it's such a great idea to have the NEBB; hope it's a good one!

Matt - will dig out that corner piece tonight if I can Glad you're enjoying the combo, it deserves to be used rather than become a bit of furniture as it was doing with me... BTW, Matt and Nik are two of the finest BCers there are, so it's a nice feeling that they think so highly of a tosser like me

Yup when we go see Opeth at rock city this coming weekend we have to go up the fire escape in the parking lot bit degrading really..
Sounds all to familiar!
..bit degrading really but we are not that easy to stop.
That's a great attitude to have in those situations!!

 11.
Hi guys (and gals!) i'm looking for an input switcher / selector. I want two inputs and also i'd like to be able to adjust the levels of each input individually - i have an active and passive bass so i'd like to be able to adjust the levels so they're the same when they enter my effects chain etc. I've spotted this which seems to do the trick, but i was wondering whether anyone has any experience with it? I've already got a Boss line selector, but that doesn't quite do the job - the knobs are easily knocked on my one and sends the levels all over the place. I was thinking about getting a tonebone - price isn't the issue - but it doesn't quite fit onto my pedal board, unless i sacrifice another pedal, which is something i don't really want to do. Or, is there another similar product out on the market? Thanks in advance, Mark
Hi Mark, For the same reasons as you, I'm about to get one this week (due to arrive in the post any day now).. So hopefully I will be able to tell you more when it arrives.. Looks like a very good piece of kit to me, especially for the price! Nik
 12.
Just a quick feedback for Peter (GreeneKing), I bought a line 6 Bass Pod XT Live off of him. Lovely, honest guy with good communication and smooth transaction. Would recommend anyone to trade with him. Ade
+1 Peter's a true gent and a pleasure to deal with, whether buying/selling gear or otherwise..

Wow; that is soooo tempting at that price!
 15. Friend of mine is looking for a good started bass for her son for Xmas - would you be prepared to ship it?
 16. That's a really nice looking bass! Good luck with the sale...

 18.
Thanks Nik. Here's another of the 4000 with my other Rics: The 4000 has been my main gigging bass for the past few years. However after last night (and due to other rather more nebulous factors) I'm actually thinking of selling it. It's a great bass, very aggressive sounding; far more so than my 4001s. Imagine if JJ Burnel played a Ric and you're about there. I found last night that for the first time in years I needed the addition of that deep, mellifluous neck pickup sound, so 2/3 of the way through the gig I switched to the CS. I must be getting old! It does indeed look like I'm hanging on for dear life! I think I was actually doing that strumming/damping percussive thing that Leigh does on such songs as C30 and GSBT; I utilise it on a couple of our songs (although we're nothing at all like BWW).
Gorgeous trio of Rics! I used to have one when I was a kid (should never have sold it ) and have always found them the fastest necks to play. I know what you mean about needing that extra depth from the neck pick up; it's why I stopped using a Musicman Sub 5 a year or so ago. I think you'd regret it if you sold it though?? That Leigh strumming/damping effect is a great sound isn't it.. I use it occasionally and it drives our keyboard player mad as it sends the bass level through the PA way too high.. Sorry for going off topic.
 19.
I bought a Squier Deluxe Active Jazz V from a fellow "chatter" who was extremely kind and delivered it to Cheltenham all the way from Wigan.
Blimey! That's over 250 miles as a round trip!!! Incredible service... Nice bass btw..
 20.
We did a charity gig last night with a bunch of other bands. We're really short of recent gigging experience (only 3 in 2 or so years due to all sorts of factors) so we weren't at our best, and on a personal level I was very poor, nerves having got the better of me. Still, the event was a success and that's what matters. Here's me with my '73 Ric 4000.....
Nice one Shaun! Lovely looking bass, that Ric... got any more photos of it? You do look a bit like you're hanging onto it for dear life which reminds me of exactly how I felt when i joined the band i'm in now, as I hadn't gigged for 12 years before that! So well done for getting through it
 21.
I can see you with that short scale, Nik!
So can I, that's the problem!
 22.
Sold!
That was quick!
 23. This thread is a brilliant example of what Basschat is all about! Fantastic support from one and all which is great to see..
 24.
So that's where it went!
Yep.. to get a bit more playing time than I gave it hopefully Mert!
 25. Sorry to hear such a story gsm.. That's a fine collection by the way!! If you do decide to sell them seperately for any reason, then I'd be interested to know more about the short-scale Aria.. Otherwise, best of luck with your sale and more importantly, your health!
