Hi Folks, It's rapidly approaching that time of year again when we'd like you to dust off your shiny new (& old) basses, your ever smaller, lighter, louder amps & cabs plus all your weird / geeky bass FX, and bring them all down to the.. [b]South East Bass Bash No.8[/b] Last year's SE Bash was a really fantastic day, with some fabulous guest speakers and about 80 Basschatters attending, so It goes without saying that we'd like to see if we can better that this year!! So, please do sign up, come along on the day with all your gear, make a lot of noise, meet some fellow Basschatters and have a brilliant time helping us to raise a few [b]£££s[/b] for good causes! Hi Folks Been incredibly busy for the last week or two, so haven't got round to updating this list but, as we're getting close now, I'm hoping to get a more specific idea of numbers as I've been trying to decide what would be a fair [b]door price[/b] for this so that we can: (i) cover the hall hire costs,and (ii) raise a few quid for a good cause What do you think, is [b]£10[/b] fair? It's what we charge at the South East Bash every year... Hall hire is about £20 per hour, so the total cost will be about £100. We'll have some tea & coffee available on the day at 50p per cup so that will help too... I'm also thinking it might be good to have the times from [b]11am-5pm[/b] and have an extra hour on the day. The idea being that people can suggest some favourite basslines and Jake will deconstruct them.. Here's the idea: [i]"let people make suggestions on the spot as to what they think is a great bassline and I could listen, learn, reproduce and dismantle for analysis in front of their eyes. Could perhaps do 2 or 3, classics from funk, rock, pop maybe?"[/i] And if anyone else fancies doing a short talk about a particular interest of theirs, then please let me know - bass-related topics of course! Lastly, if anyone's interested, I've also got some old Peavey 1x15 cabs which are loaded with Altec Lansing drivers and I'd be quite happy to bring those down as they sound great to me..... Nik
  7. Just bought two 12" JBL cabs with Eminence drivers from Stevie and can't thank him enough for his help throughout! Completely brilliant deal, great comms and he even packed them up and shipped them out to me just before going on his holiday..   13. Hi Folks My band has had to pull out of a gig in Lancing, West Sussex this coming Saturday so I'm working with the venue to try to find a replacement. It's a Royal British Legion Club, so the audience is quite MOR/sing-along/pop-tastic - if that makes sense? Money's quite good though, and they're a friendly crowd! I've already got feelers out for this locally, but I thought I'd also try here on Basschat because BC always seems to come up trumps in the average gigging bassist's hour of need!
