Barbara Thompson's 1980 live recording with Dill Katz on bass Just listening to that album myself after years of it being off my listening list - wonderful stuff, not just Dill's playing Also Jaco's playing on Joni Mitchell's Shaddws and Light live album is sublime

Nice stacked knob Jazz too -
Hi everyone. My son plays a Peavey Millenium 5 and it has developed an intermitant fault on the neck pup. Aparantly it cuts out after a while. I'm told that it's a potted pickup so fault finding a repair is not really possible. There are no issues with the wiring from the pup. Ideally he'd like to replace it but the pickups are not a "standard" size IE not Jazz, Precision,MM or soapbar type. Is there anyone out there in Basschat land who happens to have one of these sitting in a drawer or does anyone know who makes a drop in replacement? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Ah, unfortunately I'm a rosewood 'board guy! Also, that might be a little more than I can really justify spending at the moment.
Ah well...worth a try. Hope you find what you're looking for.

24 fret J type bass..with thru neck....who makes one ?
Urban Bassman replied to alembic1989's topic in Bass Guitars
Just had a swift look round. The Cort A4 of 24 fret thru neck basses and pretty close to your budget as a new instrument...not a Jazz body shape though but hey 3 out 4. Know nothing about them really but they look pretty good - here's one on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cort-A4-Electric-Bass-Guitar-Neck-Thru-Construction-and-Bartolini-Pickups-NEW-/390445088042 Might find a second hand one that would come in under budget. The other option might be the ESP LTD B-1004, not Jazz shape but again 24 frets, thru neck and second hand would be the right price. These are pretty good I had one for a while so can vouch for it. I looked at Overwater's Tanglewood Jazzes and they are bolt-on and 22 fret - close but no cigar I'm guessing. Hope this helps. -

Bass player - 50's, good experience, great gear, reliable transport and easy going looking to join band of similar aged musos. Ideally playing rock covers 70's to now. No metal please, but open to other ideas. Can commit to regular rehearsal, learning the set and of course gigs. Please get in contact to find out more and tell me all about your band. Thanks

pub band songs suitable for a 3 piece ?
Urban Bassman replied to hamfist's topic in General Discussion
Feeder could be added to the list - used to do Buck Rogers, which always seemed to go down well. There's always Budgie... -

Just a swift note to say thanks to Merv. I bought his US Masters Fretless 5 String Bass last night. A very nice chap to do business with. The bass is fabulous, exactly as described and I promise to take good care of her.

Used to do this one in my covers band a few years ago - Drop D - nice! We loved playing it so it stayed in the set for quite a while. Went down well in the more "rockier" pubs we used to play. Use it wisely I'd say.

If you're planning to run a single 15" as an extension cab then I'm afraid there's not much you can do to change the impendance. If you like the cab then you're best bet is to change the speaker for an 8 Ohm, I guess one benifit of this is that when you come to resell you can offer either. But I'm sure that there must be an 15", 8 Ohm Ashdown cab out there in Basschat-land for sale. To answer your other question I used to run 2x10 and 15" cabs in a Peavy Rig and more recently a Trace Elliot 2x10 combo and 15" Ext Cab and had no issues with muddy sounds. Much would depend on the sound you're trying to achieve. It's a fairly common set up.

NOW SOLD VIA EBAY. I have a MXR El Grande Fuzz Pedal. In very good condition. Does have velcro on the back but I have saved the rubber feet so you could peel of the velco and put the feet back on if you wanted too. It will come with the original box and instructions and other literature. This pedal does provide a huge amount of dirt. Too much for me I'm afraid so I'd like to trade it for another distortion/fuzz pedal that is not quite so fierce. Value wise I'd be looking for £50 if someone wanted to buy it rather than trade. What have you got? Please get in touch. Thanks

NOW SOLD VIA EBAY. I have for sale (no trades this time) a 2005 USA built American Series Standard Fender Jazz in Candy Apple Red. Alder Body, Black Scratch Plate and Maple Neck, it also features the S1 switch and now sports a Bad Ass III bridge. I still have the original bridge plus all the case candy and a shaped Fender case as well. It is in great condition and it looks, plays and sounds fab. Why am I looking to move this beauty on? I've just made the switch to 5 strings and this really does need to played and appreciated. I think £650 ovno cash on collection is reasonable. I am prepared to ship it by courier and am happy to arrange this at the buyers expense. This is a short term offer before it goes on Ebay... Here's some pic's of the bass and I can supply high quality images to anyone who's interested. Please feel free to get touch and ask any questions. Thanks for reading.

Porcupine Tree just came up on my random track play and it reminded me just how good Colin Edwin is. That's all - back to work!
