  1. Skybone - Ooh, sparkly!
  2. Hipshot Bass Xtender, that's all.
  3. Loco in Acapulco - Four Tops.
  4. Best: 2019 Schecter Riot 4 Aurora Burst (lefty). Worst: Simply by not being overly exciting rather than bad: Rotosound flats.
  5. The body on that Spector looks quite a lot smaller (in a good way) than the others, I'd never noticed that before.
  6. Thanks. At rehearsals, my violinist (who's also a bassist in another band) was super excited to get an up close look. Fortunately, my bandmates are all righties so no need to fend them off from taking my bass home with them.
  7. Hellzero - apparently, I did not. My mistake for not looking more into the preamp data, thank you for that, it's appreciated.
  8. I've been trying to find out what frequencies on my bass, the three-band EQ is designed to cut and band at but I couldn't find much information. A review I saw by Rodney McG says the mid is set at 900hz but that's all I have (thanks by the way, if you're reading this.) The bass in question is a 2019 Schecter Riot-4 Aurora Burst. In a broader sense, I'm trying to work out where all the EQ's in my signal chain operate and I found the info on my Tech 21 VT Bass DI, quite easily - 125hz, 500hz, 3.2khz for the record. I think it's good to know what exactly we have control over, in general but particularly before throwing down on further EQ options. I understand there may be a case for doubling up, if placement of EQ in a signal chain is going to be a significant factor on sound. Presumably, less of an impactor on a shorter chain than a longer one. Also curious where the active basses of others have their EQ cut/boost points set, so please drop that in below if you want to.
  9. Sacrilege - The Mission UK
  10. Rise - P.I.L
  11. Hmm, effectively a Schecter SLS Evil Twin left-handed but with a few significant mods. Most obviously, my signature is headless and multi-scale. Horns maybe more like those of the Riot series. Fret markers are pentacles except for the 12th, which is my initials. The binding is toxic venom green instead of white. Probably have to be a 5 string unless Hipshot make an Xtender that'll fit a headless. Flamed maple top. Comes fitted with Rotosound flatwound strings as standard. Cost: well, probably made in Korea so for the lefty, and maybe it's only made as a lefty, £1300-1500.
  12. If I had about £3000 just going spare then I'd seriously consider throwing down for an ACG bass. Sadly, I don't.
  13. Red Light - Siouxsie and the Banshees.
  14. Thanks Ricky, that's helpful. It occurs to me too that with your headstock being 4 on a side it's more of a feat to get your E to fit than for me with my 2 on a side headstock.
  15. I kinda want one, just not in that colour. I think seafoam green can look great but only if the instrument leans heavily either into a 1950s Chevy vibe or into a 1920s Art Deco/ Nouveau/ Amsterdam School look. Neither of which this does. For me, bright white or candy apple red would be great and look 80s as heck. A holo finish would too.
  16. Hoi, je bent hier welkom!
  17. I Walk the Line - ASF.
  18. I bought a new bass which allows for through-body stringing and whilst making the purchase took advantage of a 4-for-3 offer on Rotosound 77s. It's only after receipt I remembered I might need Super-Long scale strings. So, my question is, on a 34" scale bass, can I string through body with just long scale strings?
  19. Driven Like the Snow - The Sisters of Mercy
  20. My dream bass is a lefty, has to be. If it's a righty it barely counts as an instrument and is little more than an expensive ornament.
  21. I've not read the rest of this thread but let's see, red Yamaha BB, EHX Clone pedal, ergo a Peter Hook fan. Whilst I've not really played a Yamaha in over a decade, I do use a chorus, and specifically a Bass Clone (previously a Small Clone) because of Hooky. Excellent pedal, fantastic effect.
  22. I use a VTBass DI at the end of my signal chain. I don't lug an amp and cab around with me and I like to not need a venue DI when I gig. It's a small effects chain, compressor, octaver (up, down and fifth up), chorus, occasional delay, preamp. Nothing overly complex.
  23. Thanks. Go check it out in the lefty photo section.
  24. Thanks. I really like the stain they put on the ash, combined with that burst on the burl top it really puts me in mind of the cold of the north and Scandinavia, so much so I nicknamed her The Valkyrie. Yeah, it's great to have so many options. Well, when they can actually be sourced from the suppliers that is.
  25. Pedal order, Mini Ego (compressor) - Quint Machine (octaver) - Bass Clone (chorus) - Carbon Copy Mini (delay) - VT Bass (preamp.) The Carbon Copy only gets used sparingly whilst the others are always on effects. I just switched out the old patch cables for some nice EBS gold flat patch cables so I could use a smaller board but then I worry I'll find something new to add and then not have enough room.
