  1. I bet he doesn’t get this kind of abuse on ‘the fretboard’
  2. Be careful that might be considered as sneery so he won’t answer it
  3. If you are going to be one man on a mission to rid the world of fakes then surely that is a legitimate question? How are you qualified to call out fakes??
  4. I think you’ve been asked this question but have you been a victim of buying a fake? If not why is it sooo important to you? Also what training course did you take to become an expert on spotting fakes? Or do you just call it on based your own opinion?
  5. I think Prowla has just been appointed as chief investigator
  6. I’m thinking of listing this as genuine Fender do you reckon I’ll get away with it??? I think I’d better get the logo police to make a ruling on it
  7. I always thought it was a ‘knot hole’ but potato/potatoe
  8. Is that like selling a non-fender guitar with a fender logo separate ha ha sorry I’m just being facetious
  9. My apologies my post was a bit harsh but Fiat does not own Ferrari, Fiat has a controlling stake in Ferrari it does not own the company outright, the point I was making is the logo for squier says “by fender” on it I have never seen a Ferrari logo with “by Fiat” on it So that is a completely different scenario
  10. How in any way did I say anything like that!! Fiat is a completely separate company to Ferrari so that’s a bit of a moronic question
  11. Sorry but unless you are trying to sell the item as the genuine article then it’s not a “counterfeit” it’s a “fake” or “replica” The definition of counterfeit is : To make a exact imitation of something valuable with the intention to deceive or defraud So only fake or counterfeit items can cause injury or are dangerous to the public sorry but that’s utter rubbish you hear of manufacturers doing product recalls all the time because of issues with the product that came out of their factory Also you say that Limelight make counterfeit’s which they don’t!!! Be very careful in what you say because that could be classed “defamation”
  12. So if a fender guitar is made in a fender factory by fender employees using fender parts and they don’t put a fender logo on it then its not a fender guitar?? Just to be clear I’m asking the question not making a statement
  13. Anybody can also buy genuine fender parts off the shelf so what’s your point? So what makes it a Fender guitar is it where it’s built of the parts it’s built from???
  14. But Cort are licensed to make Squier (by Fender) for Fender and brand them as a Fender product so aren’t you just splitting hairs?
  15. Could you please explain the difference between a Squier body and neck and a Fender body and neck? Aren’t they the same thing? And aren’t they are both built in a Fender factory so if you upgrade the hardware to a Fender spec then surely it is a Fender?
  16. But doesn’t the Squier logo have by Fender written on it? So isn’t it a Fender anyway?
  17. I agree with you and I can’t remember who else said it but if Limelight use all genuine Fender parts to make the guitar then surely they can put a Fender logo on it because it is technically a Fender so I’m struggling to see what the problem is!?!
  18. But how would it work if the “fake” guitar is better than the genuine article then doesn’t the buyer “gain” and better instrument, so would that mean that the seller is the one who makes a “loss”
  19. Everyone keeps using the word “Fake” which is not technically the right word to use, you should really use “counterfeit” as that means to try and pass off a “fake” item as the genuine article (ie deception) so that is illegal All counterfeits are fakes but not all fakes are counterfeits Some people have spouted the definition of copyright/trademark laws but unfortunately the problem with law is it’s open to interpretation it’s not a black and white thing there is plenty of grey areas
  20. I think I changed the design about 20 times before I found the shape I liked
  21. I really feeeling this one..... but not relict and with split pups instead of a buck
  22. I’ve finally started it now, I’ve cut the headstock and I decided to stain the neck to a walnut-ish colour so I’ve just done that got a few more coats to get on it so it darkens a bit more then flatten it and then clear coat it Hopefully after Christmas I’ll get started on the body filling and re routing the cavities!?! But I’m going away from the Black body and I’m swaying more towards either Dakota Red (with Cream pickguard) or Aged Vintage White (with Black pickguard) I do like Butterscotch but I’ve seen lots of them done that colour recently?
  23. I’m fine with the Woodworking side of it, it’s the finishing that lets me down a bit, I think I’m far too impatient!?!
  24. That’s looking really good it has got a lovely flow to it!!
  25. Ha ha I know what you mean you think you’ve done a good job of something then you look other peoples posts then look at yours again and just think “I could have done that a bit better!!!” I’m a bit worried now because I’ve just started a 51 p bass build!?! I better up my game a bit and pull something out of the bag!?!
