  1. I’ve just listened to a few of their tracks on YT and I think I’ll be ordering the album I know what you mean not as good as RATM but worth a listen I really rate Tom Morello I think he’s under rated same as Tim Commerford I think he’s a great solid bassist
  2. I didn’t realise that most of them are from RATM, Is the album any good? I’ve been meaning to give them a listen as RATM’s original album is one of my go to albums
  3. You might have already considered this but use an old duvet like a roller blind that acts as a dampener on the door because you will probably leak noise from there? And also rout and brushed intumescent strip into your door that will also help for a better air tight seal
  4. Hey that’s my Mum your talking about!!! but it ain’t no gorilla suit tho!!!!!
  5. That’s Tom Morrelo’s new band isn’t it? Are they along the same lines as RATM?
  6. Bandnamemaker.com comes up with some classics: Unpaid Doorknob Shrunken horror of the stupid maniac Groping fetish and the subtitle Chemical Dogma and my personal favourite: Daisy Dreamland and the Big Hung Fuzz
  7. I don’t do jazz but rock would be Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast RHCP - blood sugar sex magik RATM - Rage against the Machine
  8. The neck joint should be as you have said should fit with a gentle push and you should be able to lift the body by the neck only without any slipping at the joint Well that’s the rule I work to anyway?
  9. I do agree with you that I don’t think that what wood you use makes much difference to the tone but composites are just cold and lifeless
  10. I’m a bit of a traditionalist carbon fibre has its place but I don’t think it should be used in musical instruments (it hasn’t got any soul), I have enough of a problem with status’s graphite necks let alone start moulding bodies out of carbon fibre etc
  11. That’s what I did I even put the template on the bottom and it looked like I would have had 5mm to spare but I must have put it a bit further up on the top doh!!!! Not too much of an issue tho, I’ve got to rout out the cavity bigger anyway to allow for the pots to move over I don’t know if I’m going to veneer this one as funds are a bit tight (the cam belt snapped on Mrs Jimotheys car £££££!!!!) but I have seen some Red Ebony that has taken my fancy??
  12. It’s probably not going to look anything like a Corvette when it’s done anyway it was just the general shape I’m after
  13. I’m probably just going to dye the fingerboard black and just colour match the headstock to the body and I’m thinking maybe a custom pickguard but I haven’t decided yet?? I bought it a couple of years ago (£45) and never got round to doing anything with it the electrics are shot except for the pickups so I’m just going to re-wire it, I like some of the more expensive SR’s but this is just from the gio range so its cheapest of the cheap so that’s why I thought I’d have a go at modding it?! I really like the shape of the corvette and I can’t afford a real Warwick so I thought this build will be just a bit of fun?!, I’m not going to spend a lot of money on it
  14. I’m interested too on how’s this is going to turn out?? I’m kinda winging it at the mo!?!
  15. This isn’t the build I planned on doing fist but I’m waiting on some veneer for the ‘51 P Bass so I thought it start on this instead Ive got a Ibanez GSR205 that I don’t particularly like so I thought I’d modify it into more of a Warwick Corvette-ish shape So I made my template (that ended up looking a bit like Frankenstein’s bride but it should work???) Made sure the template fitted ok Cut out the template then had a B******S!!!!!! moment I thought the bottom edge didn’t go over the edge of the cavity But it did!?! Filled the old holes and a few crappy bits round the outside (bloody bearing came off the router bit) and sanded the edge, so next job is sort out the edge of the cavity and start contouring the body..........
  16. My nomination would have to go to the Psilos bass because of its uniqueness and craftsmanship but..... Bastav also needs to get a big mention tho for both his builds they are both stunning
  17. That sounds like a good idea but first I think my next thread will need to be “Donations needed please give generously”
  18. I know exactly what you mean I still haven’t managed to start my ‘51 P Bass kit yet! Hopefully I can start it in a couple of weeks?!
  19. Looking really good! Did you decide against the duck decal the end?
  20. Like most other people I couldn’t narrow it down to just one band Mine would be Iron Maiden, Nirvana, RATM and Guns and Roses
  21. If you don’t feel confident with a hand or electric plane then you could always use a router with a straight flute cutter in it? Measure the distance from the outside edge of the router bed to the inside edge of the cutting blade Clamp a straight edge on your timber a couple of mm moure than the distance you’ve just measured making sure it’s parallel Carefully rout the timber making sure you keep the router bed flat on the face of the timber (because you are only taking off a couple of mm you should be able to do it in one pass but if the router starts labouring then do the passes in stages lowering down the router after each pass) Then you will have a 90 degree edge do the other piece of timber and hey presto 2 perfectly square edges to glue together and as Norris said use as many sash clamps as you can making sure you clamp from the top and bottom of the timber so to limit the amount of deflection Or the other option is go out and buy a jointer planer and that would make your life a lot easier
  22. Thanks everyone for the advice on the best method to oil the guitar, I think it’s gonna be trial and error to see which one works best for me I won’t be starting the Jazz project till after Christmas so I spose I better finish the ‘51 PBass first I’ll do a build diary using the other thread and no doubt I’m going to have to pick your brains regarding that one as well
  23. I think I’ve found the winner!! That would set the paisley off lovely
