I'm swaying more towards a Meteora Bass with a PJ pickup config but I'm definitely going to do a semi hollow soon I'm probably going to do a '51 P style......👍🏻

On a few of my recent basses to name one my 51 p bass build I used tinted danish oil then used quick drying water based polyurethane and its have been fine butas far as I understand I don't think solvent based lacquer can be used over a solvent based stain as the solvent in the lacquer will dissolve the stain?.... 👍🏻

You can oil it to bring out the grain then let it dry thoroughly then you can use water based polyurethane over the top and it won't react..... 👍🏻

I got some flooring delivered and it came on what I think is a pallet made out of Poplar which will probably make a few nice 10mm thick tops and its got me thinking of what I should build next? I've got a few ideas for a couple of guitars one being a kind of double cut Nashville Tele-ish/Strat-ish 'Mongrel' type thing But I'm a bit stuck on a bass, I'm thinking either Stingray, Jazz or a Meteora? Or maybe a semi-hollow? But I'm open to any other ideas of not the usual suspects......... 👍🏻

Well I think the bass is a hit!!..... 👍🏻

I've decided to make the neck for this build (Oak with a Rosewood fretboard that I took off the twisted Squier neck) so to make my life easier I've bought a set of 51/54 p bass neck templates I'm thinking of making it reverse headstock?........ 👍🏻

My scales aren't working at the mo but I reckon its about 2.5kg 👍🏻

All finished and set up! Headstock logo is on I've named it the 'B Bass' as my little boy is called Bradley One slight problem is that even though I used short scale stringd I had to wind the thicker part of the E and A strings and it had stretched the string a bit but it seems to be stable tuning but I might have to look for some 24" scale strings, I don't know if they do them?....... 👍🏻

Yeah this was the red/packing one I'm kind of using this body to try out some different finishes The Sapele one I mentioned is a separate build thats just going to be kept natural 👍🏻

Here's it all refinished I'm probably going to change the pickguard for ply as I think its all a bit dark with the black pickguard?....... 👍🏻

I wasn't happy at all with the finish on this build So I decided to refinish it I'll post new pics tomorrow when I get in the workshop Also the Sapele bodied Corvette build that is going to have a Thumb inspired pickup config keeps staring at me in the workshop so I'm going to have to get moving on that one aswell..... 👍🏻

I've almost finished 2 guitars (a firecaster and a tele 🤫) I don't really play guitar but I'm finding reasons to keep them but I need to sell them to pay for some more bits for some other projects for a few basses I'm building which are the P-rick, Fenderbird, another corvette style build 'The Chevette' and a MM P bass build which I need to sell a couple of them also! 😭 Building is a slippery slope before I started 3 years ago I had 2 basses now I've got 12..... 👍🏻

I think that there should be a cheap bass subforum (sub £100-150 maybe) for us poorer bass players 🤔

You'll plan to make and sell but if your anything like me you'll make one and then convince yourself that its not good enough to sell just so you can keep it for yourself! 😂 You've done a great job on your first build! 👍🏻
