  1. They do now you mention it! 😂
  2. Congrats on being in the No treble top 5 readers basses of the week well deserved!! 👍🏻
  3. Yeah I think I'm going to do the overhang on the fretboard, I very rarely play up the dusty end so I think it will be fine 👍🏻
  4. I couldn't sleep so I thought I'd make a start on the pickguard/fretboard extension here's what I've come up with?....... I think @Pea Turghis right a ski-slope down from the end of the fretboard would probably be the best option but I do like the idea of a pickguard it makes it look slightly different? What does everyone else think?....... 👍🏻
  5. Ooooohhhh thats a good idea that could work!! Its a rosewood fretboard that had been painted matt black before I got it so it would be easy to blend it in 👍🏻
  6. If I go down the pickguard route I'll make it out of wood and stain it a sapele/Mahogany colour so its in keeping as such? I really wanted to keep it a Double buck
  7. I'm thinking of doing a different style than on my refinish? I need some opinions please I'm thinking maybe a darkish wood Jazzman style? 👍🏻
  8. I hung this build up next to my other corvettes and realised I've pink torpedoed it up!! 🤬🤬🤬 I've cut the neck pocket too long by about 30-40mm so the bridge would need to hang off the edge to get the scale length correct!! I measured the neck pocket off the original body which was longer than this one! If I try and piece in a bit of Oak its going to stand out a mile so I think this is going to need a pickguard to save the day!!
  9. Thanks, I dont understand why Oak isn't used more I think its a lovely looking wood 👍🏻
  10. Unless you visit poultry farms or have poultry yourself then its nothing to worry about, only 1500 people have died from avian flu in the last 50yrs If you have got poultry then they just need to be kept indoors or like my chickens they are kept in enclosed roofed run......👍🏻
  11. The headstock has all been cut and drilled Heres a little mockup 👍🏻
  12. The top has been grain filled and had a little coat of danish oil Can't really do much more till I get the MM pickups. 👍🏻
  13. Turned my attention to the headstock now Its all cut and the extra wings and new Oak capping is all gluing up ready to reshape it 👍🏻
  14. Rounded over the top and finished the belly carve and neck detail! I think its coming along nicely so far? Next job is the neck pocket! 👍🏻
  15. Managed to get the body all cut and sanded today, the back rounded over and started on the belly carve and the detail on the back of the neck pocket which is turning out to be harder than I thought! Will start rounding over the top tomorrow and post pics of how its turning out 🤞🏻
  16. Book has been delivered to Germany 👍🏻
  17. I'm from Colchester originally but moved to North Wales a few years ago my parents still live there 👍🏻
  18. My opinion would be no scratchplate it would be a shame to cover up that lovely figuring and if I see Tort I come out in an itchy rash!! 😁 Are you based near Colchester just wondering because of the names of your basses Iceni and Boudicca have strong links with Colchester?
  19. Awesome!! Not much else I can say! 👍🏻
  20. That is what I want to put on this one but funds are a bit low at present will probably get some down the road so its going to be rounds on for the time being 👍🏻
  21. Thanks, I was thinking about a matching headstock but I'm not sure as yet? 🤔
  22. What's happened to Christine I haven't seen her on here for a while?
  23. The body and top cap is all rough cut All ready to glue up! I think I need some more clamps tho
  24. Finally got round to starting this couple of changes tho.......... Its going to be a corvette shape and I'm using a old Ibby 5 string neck that I'm going to cut and splice some timber on the sides of the headstock so I can reshape it to more like a Warwick style Had a little play with the grain filling and I think it will look good in the end? The Sapele blank is gluing up now so I'll rough cut the shape tomorrow then hopefully get the cap glued on aswell 👍🏻
  25. Almost finished! I think I'm going to keep the pickguard on 👍🏻
