  1. The timber is from an old conservatory roof joist...... 👍🏻
  2. New body is cut and sanded, I've given it a quick wipe of danish oil to see how the grain will look and after reading @Andyjr1515post re finishing to see if I've missed any sanding which I have on the lower horn! I think it will look good with the contrast of a maple fretboard?.......👍🏻
  3. @fleabag I didnt think they were that bad they needed a warning! ⚠ 😂
  4. Just a quick mockup....... 👍🏻
  5. Hi I've just listed some tuners and the listing has a triangle with an exclamation mark next to the title I'm just wondering what it means?
  6. For sale 4 Unbranded Fender Style Chrome Tuners £8 inc p&p (sorry no screws tho as they were really soft so got a bit chewed up!) If you want 5 I've got an extra one so I'll throw it in at no extra cost Or willing to swap them for a set of 4 Black Fishtail tuners........ 👍🏻
  7. Got my first coat of colour on the body today I'm colour blind (might explain some of my colour choices! 😁) but the pic makes it look a bit Orangey to me but its quite a strong Red in the flesh....... 👍🏻
  8. I've just won this neck on Ebay so I'm going to reshape the headstock but its only a 22 fret so the neck pocket is still going to be too short so I think I'm going to remake the body with the body extending under the neck a bit..... I'm thinking of making the body out of Sapele so hopefully it will turn out a bit like this one i
  9. Managed to get a little bit more done, I've decided just to go for the split coils instead of a P/J...... 👍🏻
  10. Well I modified a neck to use on this from a fender style headstock to an angled headstock, it is very secure with no movement as I used 2 x 2" long 8mm steel bar going through from the neck into the headstock and routed 2 timber strips into the back of the neck as well and I'm happy with the result just filling a few little gaps and then it'll be ready for painting Black but......... As it is only a 21 fret neck and the template for the body I use had be taken from a body with a 24 fret neck the neck pocket wont be long enough for my liking! so I'm trying to win a 24 fret Westfield neck off ebay at the moment as i didn't want to have to mess around with the body I've decided that I'm going to make the 4 string p/j version and I'm going to extend the body under the neck pocket so I can use this neck its going to look something like this........ The body is pine and I've just rough cut at the mo, it's going to be painted Satin Red with Black hardware....... 👍🏻
  11. Hi WB Where abouts in North Wales are you? I'm in Denbigh..... 👍🏻
  12. Got the pickups and control cavity routed out today Its going to be a 4 string so the bridge is just for the mock-up........👍🏻
  13. I like this version....... 🤘
  14. Looks great!! Well done on your first project!! 👍🏻 I keep looking at them and think I'm going to get one but then I notice the tort and start to feel really queasy!! 🤮🤮🤮
  15. My wall of Corvettes is coming on nicely!! 😁
  16. To be honest I've never heard a Thumb with the angled bridge pickup in the flesh so I can't really comment about the difference it will make to the sound but on a couple of videos they do sound different to a Corvette so I thought why not give it a go!! and also I like the look of it as well........👍🏻
  17. This is basically what I'm thinking now.........👍🏻
  18. I'm slightly rethinking this build I'm struggling to find a 5 string neck in my budget so I'm probably going to make this a 4 string instead, Also I'm thinking of changing the pickup config aswell to a Thumb style with the bridge pickup angled and the neck straight??......👍🏻
  19. Did some more work on the body today........ 👍🏻
  20. Crazy Train - Ozzy Osborne
  21. Thanks I've now started screenshotting my pics as it take the file size down to 200kb instead of 2mb I'll just delete some of my old pics...... 👍🏻
  22. I've always wondered about that, what happens when you use all your space can you still post pics? Because I've got 4.15mb left?
  23. I know what you mean, ots not as far as barncaster rusticesque but I think it just gives it a little something but to touch its completely flat and smooth as I attacked it with a stiff wire brush to get the grooves then painted it black then sanded back to take the high spots off leaving the painted grooves flush with the top......... 👍🏻
  24. I was thinking that if you make a jig with a small piece of timber fixed to the bottom that sits in the truss rod groove then rout out a slot each side of it for the carbon rods then you can fix that to the neck and use a top bearing flush cutter the same width as the slot that will run down the slots and viola!! You have two grooves for the carbon rods..... 👍🏻
  25. I've tried to make the back a little bit more interesting than plain old Pine I'll do the sides when I've glued the top on....... 👍🏻
