  1. Yeah I did think that but it’s only an idea if I have to do them straight then it’s not the end of the world, I just thought that it might look better slanted..........😀
  2. I’ve had a little play with the saddles and I probably could get away with slanting them and keep the saddles all in a straight line I think this would work??...........🤔
  3. That’s a point! I didn’t think of the tonal difference it will make by angling the pickup...........🙄(Doh!!) I’m leaning a bit more towards the single straight pickup slightly closer to the bridge position as most of my basses have a 2 pickup config.........🤔
  4. And I can’t decide on the pickup config My options are: 2 pickups straight? 1 pickup straight? And if I go with angled saddles 1 pickup angled and have the end of the fretboard mirror the angle of the saddles?
  5. I’m going to use the individual saddles that I got off Mick but I’ve got a query about how to set them out?? I've seen them on some Dingwall basses and they’ve been slanted (E closer to the fretboard and the G furthest away) and I’ve seen them on some Harley Benton basses and they’ve been straight are they slanted because of the Multi scale fan frets or is it just an aesthetic thing? I like the look of them slanted but if you just have a conventional 34” scale then would having them slanted make it a problem to intonate properly??
  6. I’ve done the first coat of stain front and back the front has come out exactly how I hoped it would but the back is still a bit too brown so another coat on that tomorrow......😀
  7. It’s been a very long while since I’ve even picked up this build let alone done any work on it but I’ve decided to finish this one before I build anything else!! I started re-shaping the neck today and sorted out the poor access at the dusty end frets and decided to add a bit of a cut away on top as well I’ll post pics tomorrow when I get back to work, I’m going to stain it all trans black hopefully the lighter parts of the veneer on the front and the accent lines on the back will finish lighter than the rest so it won’t look solid black 🤞 Now just got to order the truss rod and fret wire then hopefully I can push this on a bit!?! I’m toying with the idea of a flat fretboard any opinions on the pros and cons would be gratefully received............👍
  8. As always your builds look gorgeous!! I’d be really interested in getting your opinion on a flat board as I’m think of doing one on my Neck Thru build............👍
  9. If I’m right in thinking please correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the 60 1/2 designed to be used mostly on end grain because of the low angle of the blade I’ve got both and over the years I’ve had Stanley and the Irwin equivalents which are cheaper and in my opinion just as good!! But I prefer the 9 1/2 as it seems to work better on the face or sides of the timber.........😀
  10. Cheers Gents!! I think your right no control looks better.......👍
  11. Here’s the new decal I think it looks a lot better......... But my dilemma is now with or without the control plate ...........🤔
  12. Sorry I meant to put asked
  13. Both really also @SpondonBassed called it steampunk style but it’s not really so we were trying to think what style it’s actually called ie barncaster, rustic, fake barrel top etc..........🤔
  14. I think I’m going to do this decal but it’s going to be bigger than the others...........🤔
  15. I said be nice!! There’s no need for that kind of language!!😀
  16. How about a....... Rusticaster or a Barrelcaster Bass?
  17. It does doesn’t it I reckon it will catch on ha ha Your good with names what style would you call it?? (Be nice tho!!.....😜)
  18. I don’t really know how about ‘fake barrel top-ish barncaster-ish rustic-ish’ style??? .........🤨
  19. No need to be sorry mate everyone is entitled to their own opinion! but I see what you mean about it being sanded back then the decal applied I think I need to do it again but danish oil it first and I’m not 100% sure about the decal anyway so it might change again I’m thinking a bit less busy maybe like this And by the way this is steampunk!! Which is not my cup of tea at all!!.....👍
  20. I decided in the end I didn’t like the Jameson fake branding so I’ve changed it This is now called ‘Lucky 13’.........😀
  21. Nice touch!! that’s exactly the same reason why I put ‘Brash’ on the headstocks of my builds (my kids Bradley and Ashden)..........👍
  22. Pickups are now in on ‘Ole Smokey’ I’ll solder them up later this evening...........😀
  23. The effects pedal is finally finished!! it’s got a nice range from slight break up to full on Overdrive I tried using a bass but it definitely sounds better through guitar instead The kids are in bed now so I’ll try and post some sound clips when I get time another day I’m getting the bits together to do a Analog Delay and a Axis Fuzz/Octave Up (2 independent circuit but In the same box)......😀
  24. I don’t normally like coloured burst bodies but that look really good!! 👍
  25. I’ve started trying to use recycled wood as you can’t get much more eco friendly than that maybe it’s to offset my carbon footprint as I drive a transit for work and have a Ford Ranger as my own vehicle I better watch out I don’t have people gluing themselves to my front door 😬
