  1. I’m about to start building a pickup winder but I’m going down the route of 12v motor with a PWM speed controller, LCD counter and a on off on switch to control the direction, I’m going to do a build diary on it when it’s complete Looks like you’ve done a lovely neat job of the winding!! just out if interest are you using 42awg or 44awg wire and where did you get it from?.............😀
  2. I suppose everyone’s playing style is different and everyone’s action is different I’ve always played close to fret and my action is very low on bass and guitar so I don’t need to press hard.......😀
  3. I just re-read my post and I hope it didn’t come over as being arsey........😀
  4. I must not press the strings as hard as you then!?! I find that if I press the strings to the fretboard it raises the pitch of the note past what it should be? Maybe it’s bad technique on my part then but I was taught to have a deft touch??.......😕
  5. Well I wouldn’t fit decals if I was you then!!.........😂
  6. I’ve never had one get damaged yet, TBH unless you push the string so hard that it touches the fretboard then that would be the only way to damage them.......😀
  7. That’s what I was thinking, blocks can look nice on a Tele but I think your right the dots suit it better.........😀
  8. Still waiting for my pickups to arrive hopefully should be here in a few days but in the meanwhile I decided to put the block inlay decals on ‘Ole Smokey’ not sure whether to do it on ‘The Bulleit’ as well??.........🤔
  9. Nice!! Good luck with the learning.......😀
  10. Hi Spoofa Welcome to the forum!! Congrats on taking the first step to learn to play the Bass, What have you bought? My personal favourites for learning on YouTube are BassBuzz and Become a Bassist but I’m sure you’ll get lots more suggestions.........👍
  11. Looks like it might be a nice little project for someone............😀 https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F303433543573
  12. Yeah most of the time they have tattoos instead of brains!!
  13. I can play the spoons a bit can I join your band?
  14. Thanks @rubis the scaffold boards are either Pine or Douglas Fir but they are nice and light I do like the idea of using reclaimed wood as it is more eco friendly (and generally a lot cheaper!!) and like a couple of the builds on here that used an old piano as it does have a story to tell I would love to be able to say that the scaffold board was used when they renovated Big Ben or something along those lines but alas the only story I can tell is it was stood on by some hairy arsed brickies in a North Wales holiday park...........😂
  15. Thanks, No I’m probably going to leave them natural........😀
  16. That’s just all kinds of wrong but I suppose It could work if you have a boost pedal in front of it called ‘FingerBang’
  17. Now your just being silly you can’t call an Overdrive pedal Barry.........Everyone knows that the name of a octave pedal!!......🙄(tsk)
  18. Not everything I do is yellow I might just keep them all brushed Alu with black writing but you never know what terrible colour combo I might choose!?!.....😄
  19. I did think of Screaming Blue Murder but when I did a mock up it was a bit too big to fit on the pedal........👍
  20. I was kinda joking but because pedals have such random names now I’m surprised someone hasn’t called one that before!!.........😀
  21. I think there are too many sub genres of Rock to be able to clearly say that’s “Blah Blah Rock” It’s like everything it is very subjective I might think something belongs in a certain category but other people might think it belongs in a different one IMHO I couldn’t give a flying F*** what it’s classed as if I like it and it fits into a set and the punters like it then that is more important than its label!!.........😀
  22. I like your thinking!! I think we’ve got a winner!!
  23. I agree some of the names are just over the top especially Metasonix pedals are named things like Butt Probe, Foreskin Soup and Scrotum Smasher and some are just plain weird and have nothing to do with the pedal at all like Swollen Pickle, Fat Sandwich, Aqua-Puss, Pork Loin and Pork and Pickle?? I just want a quite normal sounding name but I can’t come up with anything that sounds good?? And preferably something that hasn’t been used before just incase I decide sell it down the line (no copyright infringement)??.........🙁
  24. I’ve just built a DIY pedal which sounds a bit like a cross between a Tube Screamer and an Overdrive pedal (very Blues sounding) and all the names I’ve come up with are a bit pony........Blues Overdrive, Blues Screamer, Dirty Blues Driver, Dirty Blues Box See what I mean!! Please post any ideas for names that you don’t mind if I use............👍
  25. The box is all drilled out now The top of the pedal will look a bit like this except I might change the name on it to Blues Screamer instead but I haven’t decided as yet......... Where it’s white will actually be bare Alu with chrome knobs I’m going to try and do an image transfer again then spray a clear coat over the top...........😀
